It is usually prescribed to take every 8 to 12 hours, unless it's the extended-release version which gets taken once a day. Good idea is to take with food or milk, it can be rough on the tummy. I used it for all-over aches with fibromyalgia and it worked well. My fibro has lessened so now I just take Advil as needed. I took the same dose, 50mg, but a doctor MAY prescribe a higher dosage if you don't get releif from the dose he/she starts you at.
