I increaase my dosage of pristiq to 100 mg and got a terrible headache for two datys Is this typical? Does it go away? Does pristiq come in lower dosages ## Normal dose is 50 mg every day. Doses of greater than 50 mg per dayare rarely more effective, however my increase the likelyhood of additional adverse reactions. Consider 50 mg every other day if poorly tolerated in the elderly. Taper dose gradually to D/C. Do not cut/crush/or chew. Yes, one of the possible side effects is headache. ## Rb is correct, headaches can be a side effect, especially with a dosage increase, you may also experience nausea, drowsiness and dry mouth. I've been on 50 mg for a while and haven't been doing as good as I once was- my dr wants me to go to 100 mg but now that they finally make a 25 mg pill. Do you think 75 mg would be good? I'd prefer to be on as small of a dose as I can- lemme know guys or girls if anyone bumped to 75mg with success or 100 mg too when 50 mg wasn't working as good. Thanks and all comments would help out a lot! ## Hello, Chris! How are you? If your doctor agrees, there is no reason to go to the 100mgs, trying 75mgs is perfectly fine and will leave you somewhere to go, if you become tolerant to that dosage. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

How are you? What dose are you taking? It is normal for your body to eventually get used to any medication you take for a long period of time and for it to stop working as well for you. The time frame can vary from person to person, so there's no way to say when it will happen. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Have you consulted your doctor? You may need a dosage adjustment or to try a different medication. ## I've been on pristiq for 8 months. I did improve with depression and anxiety b...

My fiance was recently taking Pristiq for about a year. He recently was changed over to Brintellix. He sees that it works extremely well during the day, and really helps. As the night gets later we have noticed it wearing off so to speak, mind begins to race, anger becomes an issue, not able to sleep, etc..... What would be the best thing for us to do about making it last longer through the day??? ## Hello, Amber! How is your fiancé doing? What dosage is he taking? It could be that he needs a dosage adjustment, or it may not be the right medication to help him. Has he informed his doctor? There really isn't anything that either of you can do that make it last longer. The FDA lists its typical side effects as including nausea, dizziness, vomiting and vision changes. ## I take br...

I have been on Fludrocortisone, Midrodrine, and Pristiq for depression, the first two 3 months for POTS , but, now depression has gotten bad. What can i do to stop the steroid since depression is one of the side-effects? ## Hello, Sandy! How are you? I'm sorry about the way you're feeling. Since you've been on it this long, a slow taper is the safest and best way to stop it, to avoid dangerous complications. Have you consulted your doctor? They should be able to help you set up an appropriate tapering schedule. What dosage of Pristiq are you on? You may need a dosage adjustment, or to add another medication. The typical side effects of Pristiq may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes.
