Is it a generic for viagra? My boyfriend was told it was viagra by the person who gave it to him but we don't think so. ## Hello Sally, I wasn't able to locate a pill that has the imprint Teva 4199 or even one with markings relatively close. Teva is a pharmaceutical company that manufactures the pill in question. Just because I wasn't able to find the pill on any American databases does not mean that Teva does not manufacture this pill as they make pills for countries all around the world and their markings will differ from ours. My guess is that the pill was manufactured either a very long time ago or is not something that is manufactured to be sold in the U.S. Most likely you would get more answers contacting the company itself on their website or on the phone line 888-838...

The only discrepancy I see is that you said your pill is "oval/elliptical". Whereabouts did you come across this pill? Maybe if it originated from another country that might explain why it...

Is there any difference other than price? ## Has anyone any information on this thread please? ## No, they are the same medication, Sildenafil is the active ingredient in Viagra. I'm not sure how it works there, but in the U.S., under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, generics are allowed to different from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% of the active ingredient. If such a difference is allowable there, you could only be getting an 80mg dose in the generic, which may not be enough to work for you. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, ...
