If so, then no, you cannot get pregnant by skipping those ones, you are still protected as long as you've taken all of the active pills as you are supposed to do. Ok I just recently got on birth control about 4 days ago and I just thought about something. Before I took birth control my period always lasted around 3-4 days. Now that I'm on the pill, there are 7 white pills for your period.... arent the white pills just to keep you on track? like they dont protect you at all right? so do I have to take the white pills all 7 days...like if I end my period early, do I have to keep taking the white pills? Like if I start taking the white pills on sunday, get my period that day, and then it ends...say...thursday, do i just take the white pills still for the rest of that week or do I start taking the next blue pills? ## I am not very familiar with Sprintec, but I have been on Beyaz for years now which is a 24/4 birth control pill (24 active pills ...

I have been on tri-sprintec for the past 6 months. I recently skipped the sugar pills, that way I wouldn't have my period for a special occasion. I started my new pack right away and this past week I have been bleeding, very lightly, but I was wondering is it normal to bleed if you skip the white pills and start a new pack right away? ## Yes, this can happen and is perfectly normal. Your body was just ready to continue with its normal cycle and you disrupted it. It can also happen because your body just isn't used to having the hormones that week. If the bleeding doesn't stop or gets heavier, then please see your doctor. Do you have any other questions? ## Hello - I take Tri-Sprintec but it has recently changed to Tri-Previfem. Anyways, I was wondering if missing the last 2 ...

I take Tri-Sprintec and I was wondering if missing the last 2 white pills in the package (for Friday and Saturday made any difference at all and if it's okay for me to just ignore those and begin my next package which starts Sunday? By not taking the last 2 white pills, will my period stop for the last 2 days of my cycle? ## The last week of pills in the Tri-Sprintec 28 day pack are inactive, and can be skipped, however, this will not alter the duration of your period, it should still last as long as it normally does, unless your doctor states otherwise. Ref: Tri-Sprintec Information The FDA lists the typical side effects of hormonal contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, weight changes, mood changes, and irregular vaginal bleeding.

This month I skipped the white pills so I wouldn't have my period. Instead of the white pills I went right to the new pack of blue pills. The sunday the white pills would have stopped, I started to spot, it's not a full period but it is annoying and has now been going on for a little more than a week. Is this normal, how long should the bleeding last, is is okay to be taking the blue pills while on my "period"??? ## Basically, your body was expecting that one week break from hormones and it didn't get it, you continued to take the hormone tablets. It is normal to have some spotting and breakthrough bleeding, when this occurs. I can't say how long it will last, for some people, it could be several weeks. And yes, it is okay to take them while you are having the bl...

I have been taking the triaprintec pills now since I had my son 6 weeks after my pp visit, which about a bout 6 1/2 months ago, I had my regular period every month from the 7th-12th, and my period was due the 7th but I've not gotten it yet I've taken all my white pills and started the first row of blue in a new pack should I stop taking the new pack I started til I get my period because I took a pregnancy test and it was negative this happened once before so if I've not started by tomorrow I may call my obgyn ## This is a hormonal based contraceptive, so it may cause you to skip your cycle, once in awhile and it is really nothing to worry about. And no, you shouldn't stop taking them, that will stop your being protected from pregnancy. By all means, if you're concern...

I started sprintec a week ago, I've never taken bc before. I took the first blue pill in the pack before I got my period, my doc said to take the Sunday after my period but I didn't wait, I started taking it when I bought them, now im late and I just had a single spot of blood in my undies. Is this normal for a person to miss a period and when do I take the white pills? Do I have to stop the blue ones and take the white ones inorder to have a period? ## I will explain a few things, so hopefully this will clear up your questions for you. The reason your doctor tells you to start them the first day of your period is so that you will be immediately protected against pregnancy. If you start at any other time, you must take the pills daily, for at least 7 days, to be protected. Howev...

I recently skipped the white sugar pills while taking tri-sprintec, and I've been spotting for about two weeks now. Is there anyway to stop the bleeding? ## Hello, Emma! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. No, there is really no way to stop the spotting. Things will eventually get back on track and balance back out, most likely after your next period. Your body is expecting that break every month that allows a period to happen and by skipping that week, you've thrown your hormonal balance off. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, weight gain, breakthrough bleeding and PMS like symptoms. I've been on tri sprintec for about a year now. Im on my LAST white pill today (saturday) bUT still have not had my period this week and I usually start on Wednesdays. Is that normal and should I still start my new pack tomorrow even though I haven't started my period? ## Hello, Angee! How are you? Yes, you should still start the new pack on schedule, unless you missed any pills, so there's a risk of pregnancy, or your doctor advises otherwise. Some women do skip periods, start late or stop having them entirely, while on oral contraceptives. The FDA lists other possible side effects as including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on Sprintec for about a year now, and I always renew my prescription on time. However this time I did not. I just got off of the white pills yesterday, and I have no blue pills for today. Will I continue to bleed or will I stop? ## Hello, Nya! How are you? It should still stop, but you will no longer be protected from pregnancy, until you have taken a full week of the active pills. Restarting may also cause some spotting, according to the FDA. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, cramps, and PMS-like symptoms. Tri-sprintec pack of birth control pills my daughter just started this month. She got to the 4th row of white pills and stopped taking the pills. I think she thinks they are sugar pills. What is in the 4th row, should she take the 7 days of white ones? She only missed 2. TX! ## Yes, they are essentially sugar pills. She should take them just as a reminder tho; she may remember this time, but over the months/years one could forget... ## That is correct, they are placebo pills that are meant to keep her in the habit of taking them. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irregular bleeding, mood changes, and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Really confused on why my period hasn't stopped yet...How long does it take for the bleeding to stop if i am already on another pack? I have been bleeding for almost 3 weeks... somebody please help!!!! ## Hello, Tiffany! How are you? Irregular bleeding can occur as a normal side effect, for the first 3 months or so, as your body is getting used to the hormones in these oral contraceptives. I started Sprintec on a Tuesday because of my very irregular periods. I was not on my period when I started taking the pills. I am now on my first day of the white pill and I have not had any type of bleeding. I'm confused because I thought I was supposed to get my period on the last day of the blue(active) pill.?? ## No, you would not get it on the last day of the active pills, because when you experience a menstrual cycle, while taking hormonal contraceptives, it is actually a withdrawal bleed from stopping the hormones for a day or two. Thus, you would need to be taking the inactive pills for a day or two, in order to experience a menstrual cycle. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. I started my pills on Thursday 8/6 and didnt relable the days of weeks. I started right on thursday, now I'm down to taking the white ones. Do I take the 4 blue ones that are left or start a new packet? ## Hello, Carol! How are you? Really, you should have taken them before you started the last week of the pack. However, since you didn't, if you're already having your period, then you should most likely just start a new pack and dispose of them, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain and breakthrough bleeding. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi I have been on sprintec for about 7 months now. Last month I forgot two blue pills and two white pills but used another form of protection. Then when I went to go get my new pack the doctor hadn't ordered it in yet and I had to wait three days before started my new pack. Now I am at the end of this pack and my second day of white pills and no period. Should I be worried? ## Hell, Ananda! How are you? There is always some risk of getting pregnant if you are actively engaging in intercourse, regardless of what contraceptive method you used. If you had to wait 3 days before being able to start your new pack and didn't take them for a full 7 days, before having intercourse, then there was an increased risk, because ovulation could have occurred. However, only being 2 days late is...

Hi this is my first pack of sprintec I take my pills at 11:00 everyday and never missed one and I'm on my 3rd white pill but still haven't started my period I also had unprotected intercourse on the 7th day of starting this birth control .. I don't know if I should take a test or just wait it out ??? Help ? Please ? ## Hello, Buttercup09! How are you? Did you start the tablets the first day of your period or at another point in your cycle? If you started on the first day of your period, then you were immediately protected, but if you started them at any other point in your cycle it would take a full 7 days for them to become effective to prevent ovulation, so it wouldn't be safe to have unprotected intercourse until the 8th day, or later.

I am 2 weeks late for my period so I went to the doctor. They checked me out and did a pregnancy test which was negative. I did 4 at home which were all negative as well. My doctor then prescribed me birth control (Sprintec) to help me regulate my period... So I can start it... My question is, since I haven't gotten my period and it's not Sunday, do I start the blue pills first still or take the white to help get my period? Idk... Please help. ## The pills that you take the week you are supposed to get your menstrual cycle do not contain any active ingredients and will not help you get your period. They are placebo pills and usually cause bleeding due to breakthrough bleeding, since it is a week off of the hormones in the other pills. That said, you do not have to start these on...

I am currently taking Tri-Sprintec. I started my first round this past Tuesday. Today, a week and day later I started my period. My physiccian said it was fine to start the doese before the Sunday and 1st day rule. My question is now that I'm on my period do I keep taking the blue pills (I have 13 left) Or do I start taking the white pills? Thanks! ## You should continue taking the active pills (blue) just as you are and then take the inactive (white) exactly when you are supposed to take them at the end of the pack. Break through bleeding, such as starting at an odd time, can be normal when you are new to taking hormonal contraceptives, since your body has to get used to them. Are there any other questions?
