Even knowing it's an over the counter product, with the basic description and letter M leaves it open to many possibilities ranging from actual medications to herbal or Ayurvedic products. I can however, add one warning, that regardless of what their source or origination, all of them are known to cause dependence in some people, which means terrible bouts of insomnia, when someone tries to stop taking them. Does anyone have any idea of what this might have been?

There doesn't seem to be a definitive ID for this pill online, but usually, when the imprint starts with an L, in the way you described it, then it is an over the counter type of Acetaminophen or Tylenol with Diphenhydramine.
