Skipping Period On Sprintec

I am going on a trip in a month and do NOT want to have my period while I during it. However that is the week I will be taking the placebo pills and having my period. I have been taking sprintec for one month and have had no side effects at all. I never miss a pill and take them at the same time everyday. I know I can try to skip my period by starting the next pack immediately but I also know it might not work. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who have had no side effects from the pill and who have successfully skipped their period for 1 month with no breakthrough bleeding or spotting during the week that they skipped. Thank you all in advance! ## Hello, Kate! How are you? Yes, there are many women who have done so, including myself when I used to be on an oral contraceptive...

I want to skip my period. Can I skip the white pills on sprintec and start a new pack? ## Yes, unless your doctor has told you not to do so, it is perfectly safe to do this, occasionally. Many women use oral contraceptives to skip having their menstrual cycle on special occasions, or other times when it would just be inconvenient. There are even some on the market now that allow you to only have 3 or 4 menstrual cycles a year. Are there any other questions or comments? ## I don't really think you should do that until talking to a doctor, just to be sure.... My doctor is having me skip the placebo pills for two months then taking it the third month so that I'll have a period every three months. You don't want to mess anything up, so talk to a doctor first. ## I have just star...

Can I skip my period and take the placebo pills one week later? As in when I'm supposed to take the placebo pills I take the next months hormonal pills then after one week I take the placebo pills then continue on the hormonal. ## Hello, Nicole! How are you? Yes, many women do that to control when they will get their periods, because sometimes they may be due to arrive at a very inconvenient time, such as during a long awaited vacation. Please check with your doctor first, but as long as they clear it, then there shouldn't be any problems with it. Is there anything else I can help with?

I need to skip a period next month to go on vacation.....can this work? ## Absolutely! I take them continuously and skip the white ones completely. No periods. It's great! My MD says there's no reason we need to have a period at all, so have at it! ## This is correct, it will not harm you at all, though it is recommended that you let your body complete a normal period cycle at least occasionally. I do it regularly, especially when traveling or facing a special occasion. There are even pill packs available now that you take for several months straight without having a period. Do you have any other questions? ## My boyfriend is coming back from college and he is only going to be in town for the weekend. I started my white pills this past Sunday but want to be done with my period b...

I am currently taking Tri-Sprintec and my boyfriend is coming home on leave for a week. I am going to be on my period that week. I was wondering if I could just skip the white pills and just start a new pack and if that would make me skip a period? How safe or effective could that work? ## Yes, you can do this, it is something women have been doing for years. It is perfectly safe and allows to skip your period when needed, one of the advantages of being on birth control. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## hello there! the link didnt work but thank you for your help. but i have another question. even though the 3 weeks of active pills are different colors which means they contain a different amount of hormones.. would the whole skipping the sugar pills still work? and your pr...

I take Tri-Sprintec and I was wondering if missing the last 2 white pills in the package (for Friday and Saturday made any difference at all and if it's okay for me to just ignore those and begin my next package which starts Sunday? By not taking the last 2 white pills, will my period stop for the last 2 days of my cycle? ## The last week of pills in the Tri-Sprintec 28 day pack are inactive, and can be skipped, however, this will not alter the duration of your period, it should still last as long as it normally does, unless your doctor states otherwise. Ref: Tri-Sprintec Information The FDA lists the typical side effects of hormonal contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, weight changes, mood changes, and irregular vaginal bleeding.

Hi. I am on sprintec and forgot to take day 9. on day 10, I took 2 blue pills day 9 & 10. On day 11, I took my pill as normal, and now I am bleeding. Its dark in color. Is this normal? I've done this before and don't remember mid cycle bleeding. thanks, ## Hello, Faith! How are you? When you're taking oral contraceptives, your period is actually a withdrawal bleed that's caused by withdrawal of the hormones. Thus yes, anytime you miss a pill or take it late, there is a chance of experiencing bleeding. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on tri-sprintec for the past 6 months. I recently skipped the sugar pills, that way I wouldn't have my period for a special occasion. I started my new pack right away and this past week I have been bleeding, very lightly, but I was wondering is it normal to bleed if you skip the white pills and start a new pack right away? ## Yes, this can happen and is perfectly normal. Your body was just ready to continue with its normal cycle and you disrupted it. It can also happen because your body just isn't used to having the hormones that week. If the bleeding doesn't stop or gets heavier, then please see your doctor. Do you have any other questions? ## Hello - I take Tri-Sprintec but it has recently changed to Tri-Previfem. Anyways, I was wondering if missing the last 2 ...

I started Sprintec a week and a half ago, first time ever on birth control, on the Sunday of my period, for the purpose of skipping my period two cycles from now. I noticed nausea almost immediately and pretty much everyday. I'm okay with that because I've been eating less. I started spotting three days ago, very light, but still need to wear a panty liner. I know it says that spotting is normal, but I just don't want it to last for weeks, all to skip my period for 5 days in two months. Could this be my period? Or how long does this last? Also, I was taking vitamins, which I will now stop taking, as I read that increases side effects. I just want to see if this will be worth skipping a period in two months, and it will actually skip. Thank you! ## Hello, Rita! How are you? A...

Hi! i've been taking Sprintec for more then one year now! this month I skiped one blue pill, and after 2 days, even if I took the pills at my regular hour in those days, I got my period! Should I continue to take the pills form this pachage until I am done with them,or should I discontinue them and start a new cycle on Sun? ## If you've only skipped one pill, it is fine to just continue the current pack. Skipping it caused the breakthrough bleeding, but your body will get back onto your normal cycle, soon. However, missing a pill does increase your risk of getting pregnant, so you should use some other form of back-up protection for at least a week. Are there any other questions?

I missed Wednesday pill last week and missed Saturday and Sunday so I took Sat and Wednesday pill today. Then Tuesday I'm gonna take Sundays and Mondays then Wednesday take Tuesdays and Wednesday pill so its back on the right day.. BT I'm also on my period for the secons time this month on the blue pills I been in a lot of stress too...should I stop taking them and start a new pack? ## Hello, Shay Shay! How are you? Skipping pills will also cause you to start your period at odd times, because it is lack of hormones in the last week of pills that actually allows you to have your period. There would be no point in taking Wednesdays pill so long after missing it, the doubling up thing only helps within a day or so of missing it. You need to just get yourself back on track by taking...

I missed the last 4 white pills. Can i still get pregnant? ## Okay, if I remember correctly, those are the inactive tablets that you take the week you have your menstrual cycle? If so, then no, you cannot get pregnant by skipping those ones, you are still protected as long as you've taken all of the active pills as you are supposed to do. Does It Matter What Time Of Month My Period Comes In Correlation To The Sprintec Birth Control Pills? ## Why did my period come in the middle of taking the blue pills?

Last month I accidentally took two pills in one day and the next time I just took one like nothing happened. When it was time to take this month's pack I waited and skipped a day to get back on track with the days. I usually get my period Monday night or Tuesday morning but it hasn't came yet. Am I going to get a period? ## Hello, Kay! How are you? Your hormone levels have likely been thrown off, a bit, by the doubling up and then skipping a day. It may take awhile for things to balance back out. Have you gotten your period, yet? You may skip, or it may come later. If you're very concerned, then you should speak to your doctor. I recently skipped the white sugar pills while taking tri-sprintec, and I've been spotting for about two weeks now. Is there anyway to stop the bleeding? ## Hello, Emma! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. No, there is really no way to stop the spotting. Things will eventually get back on track and balance back out, most likely after your next period. Your body is expecting that break every month that allows a period to happen and by skipping that week, you've thrown your hormonal balance off. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, weight gain, breakthrough bleeding and PMS like symptoms. Ok so I just started the sprintec. If I'm on the white pills and want my period to stop, should I start on my blue bills again?? ## Hi Boo! U should really stick 2 the directions of taking the pill. Even though the white pills r 2 keep u on track, u should still take them. U want 2 keep your body on a schedule. Did u just start the pill, recently? If so, your periods could b off 4 a couple of months. Then, usually, the periods will slow down. Some women don't get their period, after a few months. Hope this info helps. ## To prevent your period, you'd basically have to let it not start, but going straight into a new pack of active pills and skipping the white ones. It is usually perfectly to safe to do, once in awhile, unless your doctor gives you some reason not do. There ar...

I have been on tri sprintec for four yrs. Always worked like clockwork every month. This month finished pack and no period. Felt like I was going to start but never did. But I went ahead and started new pack just to be safe. ## Hello, Debidoo! How are you doing? Skipping a period can sometimes happen when you're taking these, because you are adding hormones to your body, plus your own natural hormonal fluctuations can have an affect. Have you consulted your doctor? It would be best to discuss it with them, to rule out any other problems, but generally just skipping once, here and there, isn't considered harmful and many women do it deliberately when taking oral contraceptives to skip their periods at times when having one would be inconvenient.

This is my third month taking sprintec. I completely overlooked taking the pill last Saturday and didn't realize until today when I took the pack out of the holder entirely. I've taken every pill at the same time except for last Saturday's. I therefore took two today. Should I be worried that skipping a pill and catching up today caused ovulation? ## Yes, there is a risk of that, though only a slight one. You can use backup protection for the next 7 days, until you've made sure to take a pill each day, without missing any, so you'd be sure they are preventing ovulation, again. Otherwise, the only thing you can really do is wait and see if you start your period, when it's due. Oral OCs may also cause side effects, such as irregular bleeding, headache, irritability...

My question is I have been on sprintec 9 months and my question is Im going to get married and on that week i finsihsh the white pills so my worry is one i start the blue pilss is there a chance i can get pregnet, i dont miss pilss so am curiosu about that. ## No, as long as you haven't missed any pills, you are still protected from pregnancy for the entire month. You should check with your doctor, before doing this, but it's usually safe for most women to just continue the active pills and skip their periods at a time it would be inconvenient to have it, such as right after you get married. To do so, you would just skip the inactive week and move right on to a new pack of pills. Are there any other questions? ## okay my question is not skipping my period cause two days before t...

I am on my 4th week of my 2nd pack of Sprintec 28 pills (the white pills) My 1st pack, I only took 3 white pills, up to Tues, had my period 4 days, then started my NEW (2nd) pack Sunday Nov 27. I had sex Dec 6. It is now Dec 21, & I am into my 4th day of white pills, & no period yet. Is there a chance I could be pregnant since skipped those few white pills in the 1st pack? Arent those white pills just sugar pills & only there to "remind" you to take them? ## Yes, you are correct, I double checked the information to confirm, the white pills contain only inactive ingredients to keep you in the habit of taking them daily and have no bearing on the pregnancy protection. However, you did say you are only on your 2nd month of using them and that may explain the issue, as w...

I skipped the last gray pill from week 1 and the first blue pill from week 2. I was on vacation and spaced it. I then restarted taking one pill per day, per schedule. Then my period started with terrible cramps. I continued to take the one active light blue per day. It is now the second day of my menstrual cycle and as I'm reading all the comments and drug guide I now realize I should've taken the pills as soon as possible instead of skipping them altogether. I realize that not taking the pills causes the cycle. woops. I'm wondering if I should just continue on schedule, (take the active pills and also have menstruation now) and then just focus on being compliant in the future? Or should I do something else? I'm not in a great place to access medicine so I don't know...
