how do you keep sintrom blood level between 2.0 and 3.0, as it seems to sometimes go lower ## Sintrom is an anticoagulant that contains the active ingredient Acenocoumarol. There is no hard and fast way to keep the blood level constant for these medications. That is why your doctor has o do a blood test regularly to check and see if your dosage needs to be adjusted. My mother in law is taking Sintrom 4 mg and she wants to know if there is a device or tool to do the blood tests at home, instead of going to a laboratory. We live in Tampa, FL. and we dont know. She just came from Spain to reside with us. Your feedback will be highly appreciated. ## Yes, there are meters available for self INR testing, at home. I am not sure of the prices or specific details, such as whether or not she will need a doctor's prescription, but Philips has one available, you can contact them for more information at: 888-744-5477 Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes! There is a machine called Coagucheck in Canada...it is great. Cost about $500 Cdn and is completely portable. I am sure there is a simailr one in the US.

I am 74 years old. I am using Sin trom about 2 years, after implementation of the Pacemaker due to arithima absoluta. I have difficulties to maintain recomennded level of INR, between 2 and 3. During those 2 years I had tried with different dosage schedulle - changing dosage from 1 - 2 mg per day. For example: 2-2-2-1; 2-2-2-2-1; 2-1-2-1-2 etc. I have measured INR regularly at home with CoaguChek Roshe apparatus, or in professional labs, every week or more frequently depending on the oscilation of INR. Up to now I did not succseded to find proper dosage which can maintain INR in the range 2-3, nor can find reason for so unexpected oscilations in INR. No new medications, or life style changes have happened during this period. ## I am 74 and do not normally have a problem with the Sintrom...

My father has INR 1.43. He has taken 1,1, 2 mg sintrom in three consecutive days. How mg sintrom will he take in matter his INR to be 2-3? Please ask to me as soon as you can. Thank You ## Sintrom contains the active ingredient Warfarin, this is an anticoagulant. It is hard to say, it can take several weeks for most medications to reach their full effect in the body. His doctor should keep testing his levels regularly and adjust the medication as needed, accordingly. You can read more on this medication here: Have you tried asking his doctor about it?

i had a 1 blood clot on each lung. Will I be on sintrom for the rest of my life ? ## Some people do need to take it for life, but not all, it depends on the severity of your condition, and whether or not you develop anymore clots. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising. Are you on any other medications?
