Hello, I have been diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome since the age of 6 and have always been taking Corticosteroids. Although this year the doctor has prescribed me with Prednisolone for the first time. The side-effects have been worst than what I thought, to be honest the cramps and the muscle pains have been really bad but nothing that I wasn't already used to. I couldnt do sport anymore because I couldnt breathe after only 2 minutes of activity. Swollen face was also something I was used to..as well as the acne all over my face and body. Stomach ache so strong I couldnt walk. Im an 18 year old Male, supposed to be a fun time being 18 and all….but boy has prednisolone stuffed up my last year or so. Hi I have just got back from the hospital and the Dr had given me 28X prednisolone. On the sticker she's wrote : Take 6 tablets once a day for 3 days. Does this mean take 6 tablets all at once or spread it through the day? It just seems a little wild taking 6 in 1 go... why not just put me on a higher dose...? ## Hello, Charlie! How are you? Unless the instructions say otherwise, you can do either, or; you can split them up, or take them all at once. This medication can cause nausea, anxiety, insomnia and nervousness as side effects, so some people do prefer to take them all at once, in the morning, so they aren't dealing with such issues at bedtime. I have kidney problem with about 3.2 gm protein discharge daily. Doctor had suggested taking Prednisolone 120 mg A/D.With the first doze itself, I had serious chest pain. Later on another nephrologist suggested me taking Defcort 30 mg x 21/2 tablets daily. I am afraid due to the first exprience with Prednisolone. I was prescribed Prednisolone to treat Polymyalgia 11 years ago. Initially I took 15mg a day which was quickly reduced to 10 and gradually to 5mg. I have tried gradually reducing the dose many times in the intervening years but always ended up with a severe return of the original problem. I have now managed to reduce the dose to 4mg daily. My condition is aggravated by my having type 2 Diabetes for which I take insulin because of the steroid treatment. I have recently noticed swelling in my legs and ankles during the evening more especially during periods of hot weather. Also my stomach and breasts seem enlarged. I have just started a course of Panafcortelone 50mg for 5 days, tapering by half every five days for 20 days. I have been sick with acute bronchitis with existing asthma. After one course of antibiotics and still a lot of shortness of breath, I have resumed a second course of antibiotics and starting to feel better.
