Rough Cough

I've been taking cephalexin 500 mg 3 times a day for 5 days now for my upper respiratory infection and sinus infection per dr request but i still feel pretty rough. Still coughing and blowing out nasty stuff. Why isn't this working yet? ## Hi Janice, Sorry to hear about your situation. Depending the severity of the infection(s) some doctors prescribe these antibiotics for up to 7-10 days, so it's possible that you may not get full relief for another 2-5 days. On another note, Cephalexin also has some strange side effects that in my opinion could inadvertently be mistaken for an ongoing infection. Took 15 ml by accident - Am I ok? I want to make sure I didn't overdose. I took it before bed time and just want to make sure I'm ok before going to sleep? ## You're fine. My dr has said to just take a gulp from the bottle for severe coughs which is roughly equal to 20-30ml, aside from getting a little sleepy and completely knocking out my cough there were no ill effects. ## I have cheratussin ac syrup and when I leave it for a while it gets little white stuff in it. I keep it in the frigidare so probably aint suppose too could this be the problem because I thought something might be wrong with it. ## @Faye, I've never had that happen to a bottle of cough syrup before, with the white stuff accumulating and what not. I just wanted you all to know that I am the one prescribed medrol dose pack 4 mg for the cough and fluid in lungs that would not clear up. Everyone told me that by day 4 of being off of that 1 dose pack ( that I did not complete) I would be back to normal and it should all be out of my system. They were wrong. It is now 10 days after I took the last pill I was willing to take of that pack. I feel the most normal today that I have so far. It has been a really rough almost 2 weeks, but I made it through. Hope this helps some of you. No one could give me a timeframe for the meds getting out of my system. It has taken at least the 10 days for me. I went to hospital they gave me a prescription for cherratussin ac syrup and Ventolin inhaler plus gave me a steroid shot for bronchitis. Took cough syrup 2 hours ago still coughing so hard I am vomiting. Can I take phenergan? ## I have a full bottle of Cheratussin AC Syrup that expired Feb 13,2014. Can I still use it? I have had scripts for hydrocodone as well as codeine since 2009, roughly about 4-5 bottles. Also recently had bronchitis so I had 2 bottles of cough syrup. I never used the scripts for the hydro or codeine up until this last year and 6 months or so. I have arthritis, a shoulder and bone spur, also had wisdom teeth taking out and see a chiropractor for back pain. My question is, i've already tested positive once for "norco" and I sent them a picture of 1 of the 3 bottles I had and it was fine. I have another hair test coming up and like I've said been using the scripts I had the last year all gone now.
