Prucalopride, brand names Resolor and Motegrity among others, is a drug acting as a selective, high affinity 5-HT4 receptor agonist[1] which targets the impaired motility associated with chronic constipation, thus normalizing bowel movements.[2][3][4][5][6][7] Prucalopride was approved for medical use in the European Union in 2009,[8] in Canada in 2011,[9&...

I have had difficulty with orgasms after taking Resotran for the past seven months. I also take Senokot and Colace. I am 63 and post menopausal on Bio identical estriol and Progesterone. Could this be due to the laxatives? ## Hello, Judy! How are you? It is most likely due to the bio-identical hormones that you're using, both play a role. How much of the progesterone are you using? It's usually the one that turns such off, so it could be the culprit. Estrogen usually does the opposite.

Taking prucalopride 2 mg for 4 weeks . I had a headache to begin with which settled . Occasionally feel light headed . Much hungrier than normal with hunger pangs and rumbling which are hard to ignore - really hope this goes as I lost 20lb with diet and exercise last year. Bowel wise it didn't work well until this week -not used laxatives . Might give up taking it if the hunger doesn't stop though ## Hello, Harvest! How are you doing? It might not actually be hunger, but rather just GI pain that you perceive as hunger pain. GI issues are the most commonly reported side effects of this medication and I experienced the type of thing, where I was feeling hungry, but it was due to pain, not actual hunger a few years ago… it turned out that I had gastritis. The doctor told me i...

CAN THIS NEW MEDICATION BE PURCHASED? ## Please tell me if this medication (Prucalorpride) can be purchased? And where I can buy it? Thank you very much. Miles ## Hi Miles, According to the manufacturer: " Resolor ® (Prucalopride) is approved in the European Economic Area (27 EU member states, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) for the indication 'symptomatic treatment of chronic constipation in women in whom laxatives fail to provide adequate relief'. Because of different pricing and reimbursement processes Resolor will be launched in the countries of the EEA at different timepoints. Resolor® is now commercially available in Germany and in the UK. A collaboration with the company IDIS was set up in order to provide pre-launch access to Resolor® in those count...

Taken prucalopride for approx eight months with good results but it did stop working. Realised it had stopped since taking baclofen (changed from diazepam due to hype). Even after months of meds being changed the prucalopride was no longer effective. Research states taking more than the prescribed dose does not work but out of desperation I tried 2mg both morning and night with instant results. Bowel Clinic has confirmed I can continue this if it works for me. She states there is just no evidence that Prucalopride works by increasing the dose.... Sadly there is no system to show the feedback that it can sometimes work. I will try returning to the advised dose after regaining continuity and use the am-pm doses for a booster when required. Presently so grateful not to have life on hold an...

I have slow G.I. motility and am taking Resolor (Prucalopride). Been on it for 9 days and not really working. Been in pain for a year with tummy troubles. Laxatives stopped working. How long before Prucalopride really works? ## It can take 4 to 5 weeks, before it reaches its full level of efficacy in your body. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, flatulence, and constipation. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications? ## I have been given it for severe slow transit . Had 10 days and not working . Really don't know what to do next ??

Just started 2mg tablet today and was wondering if they can be cut in half? reason being it may be too strong (gave me diarrhea) after a couple of hrs "much to my shock/surprise" (and headache) and they are so expensive in Australia - G'day all. My GI has given me them to try after having a subtotal colectomy 10 weeks ago for severe slow transit, that hasn't worked -hence the prucalopride. thanks in advance

Is anyone taking prucalopride resolor? Im just worried because since i started it four months ago, i feel very hungry all the time even 10-15 minutes after a meal. Is anyone using having the same experience? help ## I have been on prucalopride just 6 days 1mg. I do not feel hungry nor as yet have I had a result. I have CC for along time. Does any one know how long the time factor before i can increase to 2mg? ## Resolor, which contains the active ingredient Prucalopride is used to treat chronic constipation. Increased hunger and appetite is not listed as a side effect, however, it does have an effect on the brain chemical seratonin, just as many antidepressants do and most of them do cause increased appetite and weight gain. Its common side effects are listed as: headache, abdominal pai...

when do I expect a result after taking the tablet and do you have to rush for toilet? ## Resotrans (Prucalopride) is a medication designed to treat chronic constipation. I don't think you'd have to rush for the toilet as you say, but I would definitely know where a bathroom is at all times if you leave the house after taking this medication. That way you can handle any surprises. Lol The article linked below seems to have a lot of information on this drug that should be able to answer some questions about its efficacy: medpagetoday.com/Gastroenterology/GeneralGastroenterology/9630 I hope this helps and wish you safe and effective bowel movements! :)

Is Resolor available in the United States and if not, does anyone know if it can be purchased from another country. I would like to hear from anyone who has taken this drug and what the results were. ## No, it appears that Resolor, which contains the active ingredient Prucalopride has not been approved, yet, by the U.S. FDA. As to purchasing from another country, it would only be legal to import into the U.S. if there is no equivalent medication available or if a patient has not responded to those available medications. Then the FDA and U.S. Customs would give permission to get it. Otherwise, you would have to be in a country that has it available and have a doctor there prescribe it for you, then you would be allowed to bring in 3 months worth. I haven't taken it, but from the avai...
