I have chest congestion and want to know which medication would work best for me. Promethazine vc syrup or mucinex ## Use Mucinex, don't use promethiazine it's not very safe with any continued use. It wouldn't help your congestion anyway, it's mainly for extreme nausea. ## (A second opinion): I would also recommend Mucinex for the same reason that Steve suggested. Also, you may want to consider cutting out any dairy products from your diet as they are mucous forming and can work against Mucinex in terms of clearing the congestion sooner rather than later.
