My prescription states: "Take 1 tablet by mouth once daily in the morning as needed." Does this mean that I take it (I have 30 tablets) until the pain/stiffness subsides and then quit? ## Hello, LeTigre! How are you? Yes, that is what that directive would mean. It is sometimes prescribed that way, for instance my mother-in-law takes it in a similar way for her allergies/asthma, after years of dealing with it, she knows that it usually only takes 5 days of taking it to knock her symptoms out. However, if you're unsure, consult your prescriber or pharmacist. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, insomnia and acne. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you, Verwon. I anticipated that reply, so it gives ...

So if you're still unable to determine whether the cause is stress or medication related, it would still be wise to contact your doctor in the meantime just to play it safe. He/she may then suggest that you stop taking the medication until further notice. Hi I have just got back from the hospital and the Dr had given me 28X prednisolone. On the sticker she's wrote : Take 6 tablets once a day for 3 days. Does this mean take 6 tablets all at once or spread it through the day? It just seems a little wild taking 6 in 1 go... why not just put me on a higher dose...? ## Hello, Charlie! How are you? Unless the instructions say otherwise, you can do either, or; you can split them up, or take them all at once. This medication can cause nausea, anxiety, insomnia and nervousness as side effects, so some people do prefer to take them all at once, in the morning, so they aren't dealing with such issues at bedtime. It could simply be that the dosage you needed is hard to find. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been give Trolic 5mg tabs by a MP but I'm a bit worried because I have to take 3 tabs once a day.Is it safe in pregnancy and what is it for. ## Trolic is listed as containing the steroid Prednisone and, as to taking it during pregnancy, there have actually been no studies done, though its active metabolite Prednisolone has been shown to cause fetal harm. Learn more Prednisone details here. What are you taking it for? Since you are pregnant, it would probably be best to sit down with the doctor and discuss the benefits and risks of taking it during your pregnancy, so you can make an informed decision on what you should do.

why am i prescribed ent 5mgprednislone for phlem in throat ## Hi Kate, Listed below is a pretty detailed explanation for reasons why this drug is prescribed by your doctor: "Prednisone is used alone or with other medications to treat the symptoms of low corticosteroid levels (lack of certain substances that are usually produced by the body and are needed for normal body functioning). Prednisone is also used to treat other conditions in patients with normal corticosteroid levels. These conditions include certain types of arthritis; severe allergic reactions; multiple sclerosis (a disease in which the nerves do not function properly); lupus (a disease in which the body attacks many of its own organs); and certain conditions that affect the lungs, skin, eyes, kidneys blood, thyroid, st...

Need help with tablet count for prescription. I'm a student and I have to calculate the number of tablets needed to fill the rx. Prescription reads Prednisone 10MG # QS. Alan ## Hi Alan, I'm not quite familiar with your method for calculating the number of pills. Is there a type of formula you are following to get where you are? It's definitely something that one would consider to be as simple as putting the right number of pills into the right container, but I can see that it is much more than just that. Below are a couple of sites that I thought could be of help to you when calculating or co...

How to gradually reduce 40mg daily dosage of deltacotril having taken this for 3 days. Unsure if GP said to reduce by 10mg or 20 mg daily. Thanks ## Hi, Ann! Calling your GP to check is never a bad idea. However, I doubt that it was a 20mg reduction, such tapering is usually done in 5 or 10mg increments, but you should definitely call them to check and be sure. It's really for your own health and safety, since there are serious risks associated with the sudden withdrawal of a high dose. Is there anything else I can help with? Have been given a 4 tablets daily for 5 days for server bug bites. Should I take them as stated or reduce after 2 days so it would be 3 on 3rd day 2 on 4th day then 1 for the remainder of the pills. I hear these should be tapped off or maybe not for just a 5 day period. ## Hello, Linda! How are you? No, they only need to be tapered if taken in high doses for over 21 days. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, insomnia, nervousness, acne and fluid retention. Is there anything else I can help with?

My dosage is 4x5mg daily for 5 days then 3 for 3 days then 2 daily for 3 days then 1 tablet daily for 3 days then stop My question is ! On the daily dosage for example 4 tablets per day do they have to be taken altogether or do you space them out over the day ## Hello, Alan! How are you? They can be taken either way, depending on what works best for you. Some people prefer to split them up to try to minimize the side effects. The U.S. FDA lists them as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, acne, insomnia and nervousness. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been prescribed 6 tabs of 5mg a day. Do I take them all at once or spread out over the day? ## Hi Frankie, The "usual adult dose" varies for each individual, but is generally taken in divided doses 1 to 4 times a day. Your doctor may recommend that you take it at various times throughout the day or all at once, but that is for him/her to decide since it's different for everyone. Unfortunately, because of this, I can't really give a more direct answer; but I hope this general advice helps! ## Hi I was diagnoesed with bell's pulsy around 6months back and dr asked me to start deltacortil, 30mg per day, thrice in a day. I forgot how I took these pills the first time and I'm trying to contact my doctor but I've not heard from him yet and I'm leaving on vacation very soon, I remember weaning myself off them after taking a larger dose to start with. ## Hello, Joe! How are you? It actually depends what you're taking them to treat. What condition were they prescribed for? If they are started from a larger dose, tapering usually isn't required, unless you're taking them for 21 or more days. This is a steroid class medication that may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, fluid retention, acne, insomnia and elevated heart rate.

I have trouble telling the difference between my 25 mg tablet of metoprolo by Ranbaxy and my 5 mg tablet of prednisone by West-Ward. How can I easily tell the difference when in my pill case? ## Take a closer look at the imprints on them, the imprints are on the tablets and usually placed on most prescriptions labels, as well. The 25mg Metoprolol from Ranbaxy should have the marking RE 79 on it. The 5mg Prednisone has the marking WEST-WARD 475. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Just because you're taking generics doesn't mean that you cannot ask for the same generic company for your meds. Perhaps you could ask your doc to Rx both meds from the same generic company. The Metropolol and the pred 5 from Ranbaxy (for example) do not look alike.

86 year old woman been prescribed 8 x 5mg tablets a day for a week can they be evened out over the day or do they have to be taken in one go ## Hi, Lyn! If her doctor didn't specify otherwise, she should be able to split them up throughout the day. Many times people are just told to take them all at once to make sure they don't forget to take the next dose later. It's been proven through medication compliance testing that people will usually remember to take one dose, but subsequent ones are typically forgotten. It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and fluid retention. Learn more Prednisone details here. Is there anything else I can help with?

I don't really want to take drugs whilst pregnant so I can I start n stop this once I feel better before the dosage ends? ## Hello, Josanne! How are you? No definitive proof of harm to the baby has been proven, when a woman takes this while pregnant, but risk can't be ruled out, so it's placed in pregnancy category C and is recommend that it only be used during pregnancy if there are no alternatives available. But, if you do start it, you should finish all of it, as prescribed. Did they have you try any other medications...
