Consider this! With the change related to Oxycontin my problem is the OP type of Medication just doesn't work! So... My doctor has added additonal 30mg Oxycodone's to my monthly medication list. The problem we are having is coming up with a near equal dosage. Depending upon which phamacist you talk to we are getting differnet answers. It doesn't matter howe many tablets you are prescribed the research is done by considering one 80mg Oxycodone and trying to come up wit hthe equal dosage using 30mg Oxycodone. Opinion's - One 80mg Oxycontin is supposed to last 12 hours giving 80 mg of oxycodone for the ful 12 hours, so if that is true then there has to be 960mg. of Oxycodone in each 80 mg Oxycontin. 30mg of Oxycodone tablets are prescribed for 3 - 4 hours. So it would take ...

I have been on regular Oxycodone- one 20mg pill every 4-6 hrs a day for approx 6 mos I used to be prescribed 10 MG TWO PILLS every 4-6hrs prior to the switch by my doc. Now, my pain has greatly increased and NOW he has given me 30 mg 4x a day and another script for oxycontin 60mg 2x a day. NOW, I am really drowsy ALL DAY where I was not at all before after this recent change in script. I also DO NOT get the same pain relief. Seems weird----go up in strength and dosage yet now just very tired all the time and less pain effective too..WHY, WHY?. I have read somewhere that the brand of oxycodone I take (KVK) ESPECIALLY the former 20mg was almost worthless for pain, yet their 10 mg was very effective. When ever I would take 2 of the KVK 10mg in past, it INDEED WAS MORE EFFECTIVE than just O...

I also suffer severe chronic pain with RSD (not too many know what it is), which is something you never want disease, back surgery and because of walking awkward from the RSD in my leg/foot causing even worse pain and osteoporosis, I just felt the need to reply. Listen up, I worked in medical for years before my crippling injury, and I take 10mg oxycodone (percs) x4 a day. Please read. If your meds lessen your pain and not totally relieve it, be grateful. If YOU TAKE TOO MUCH OR INCREASE YOUR DOSES TO FEEL NO PAIN (which we all desire), you are really messing up. If you are in a really bad car wreck, any severe injury, then you are SOL. nothing will relieve any pain because you take so many meds and your body is used to it, NOTHING is going to help you. Another point is these kind of me...

I take 120 mg of OxyContin twice a day and 4 30 mg oxycodone's a day for breakthrough pain about 4 hours apart from each other. I also have a spinal cord stimulator in my back. The battery in my back has to be charged about once a week. I thought it was the battery in my back that made me so hot!! I start sweating if I get nervous, anxious, and especially during the summer!! I can't get off my mess bc of the pain I'd have. An ex-boyfriend pushed me through a wall in our house and my back took the brunt of it! I'm just tired of the sweating for so many reasons! I look like I just got out of the pool! What's the point of hair and makeup when I sweat it all off? I'm so sick of this! Is it the meds I take, my battery or a combination? Please help with any advice!! Th...

We are looking for the co that makes this medication so we can get it at a discount. Please help me with what you can on information. ## Oxycontin is manufactured by Purdue Pharma, however, unless you are pharmacy, or some type of medical service, such as a hospital, you are not going to be able to purchase large quantities directly from them, since it requires a doctor's prescription. Oxycodone is a generic and has many different manufacturers, which can vary from country to country. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Purdue offers a discount card that is accepted at most pharmacies. It is usually good for 1 year, and makes a huge difference to out of pocket costs. You can call their customer service 800 #, and they will send your card within a reasonable time. ## Purdue ph...

I am suppose to take 150 mg of Wellbutrin twice a day. I was also prescribed OxyContin 10 mg every 4-6 hours, along with OxyCodone 10mg every 4-6 hours (as needed). So, here is my problem. (Y, the Doctors do know that I am on all 3 of these meds together). I don't know how long I need to wait after taking a Wellbutrin before I can take an Oxy w/o running the risk of Seratonin Syndrome(?). Oxy doesn't make me loopy at all. It hypes me up like Adderall, and that's before I add a Wellbutrin. Can anyone help or advise. My Doctors just say a couple of hours. But, so far, 2 hours isn't working. I need something more precise. How soon can you take an OxyContin after taking an Anti-Depressant??? ## Hello, Alex! How are you? I'm not finding anything about a risk of serotonin ...

I have been taking Oxycodone 10 mg tablets four daily and Oxycontin 10 mg once daily at bedtime for several years. For the past month I've been going from hot to cold daily. Sometimes it only lasts for a short while, but more and more the episodes are lasting most of the day. Could this possibily be caused from my doses needing to be increased? I really don't want to increase the amount of these meds, but these hot/cold/hot/cold spells are driving me crazy. I'm a 71 year old woman and even the amount that I'm presently taking continues to make me sleepy, and this is why I don't want to increase the amount that I'm already taking. Thank you for any help you may offer. ## It is really hard to say, according to FDA reports, there are many different issues that could...

I was just given 20mg Oxycodone ER instead of Oxycontin 20mg ER & am wondering if I'm to expect same relief & duration? ## Hello, Rick! How are you? Both contain Oxycodone as the active ingredient, so they are equivalent. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been prescribed and taking oxycodone 10 hcl, 1-2 tablets every 6 hours. Today saw my spine surgeon (nurse practitioner) to get a refill prescription and what I was given was oxycontin 10 mg extended release, the prescription says to take 1-2 tablets every 6 hours. Isn't this too much from what I have been taking? My pain level has been maintained on the oxycodone 10 hcl every 6 hours along with tramadol 50 mg every 6 hours and neurontin 600 mg 4 times a day. ## No, it's still the same dosage of the relevant medication, because Oxycontin also contains Oxycodone. The different, however, is that what you were taking was the regular release formulation and the Oxycontin is the time released formulation. It's the time interval that could be problematic, because the Oxycont...

I have been taking 10 mg of oxycontin at night, but I hate extended release medication so I am switching to 10 mg Oxycodone. I am concerned I will have withdrawals. If there’s only 10 mg of the medication in both formulas, the only difference should be that the instant release wear off faster, right? ## Yes, exactly, the Oxycontin is just a time released formulation of Oxycodone, so there shouldn't be a huge difference from switching. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth Are you on any other medications? ## Lol yeah, but I have been going to pain management since 2017 so I have a doctor dealing with all that. Thanks for your prompt reply. ## You a...

I am currently on 4 30mg oxycodone ir a day and 2 2mg dillaudid a day. I've had 2 major surgeries and I'm I'm only 24 and day in day out in extreme constant pain. My question is would switching to OxyContin the new formula be as effective? Does it have the same euphoria or is it less effective than what I'm on? If anybody can help me out with that I would appreciate it. ## One thing I can say right off the bat is that Oxycontin is an extended release formula of Oxycodone. Some people say that it's not quite as potent as its immediate-release counterpart, but offers much longer relief in return. I do think though, that you'd have be your own best judge when it comes to that, since everyone is different. The thread linked below seems to have good information compar...

I have oxycodone and OxyContin a few different strengths. Oxycodone HCL IR 15MG TAB, Oxycodone 10MG immediate rel tabs, OxyContin 30MG controlled release tabs, OxyContin 40MG tablet, Oxycodone HCL 20mg IR Tablets. They are name brand not generic. My father passed away from cancer last month. What's the best thing to do with the remaining pills? Pharmacy won't allow a return for a refund. ## Hello, Kyle! How are you? I am very sorry about your loss. While they won't allow a return for a refund, they can safely dispose of them for you, if you take them in and ask them to do so. Alternatively, the FDA says the proper way to dispose of them would be to add them into some undesirable substance, such as damn used coffee grounds, or dirty cat litter, place the mess into a sealed co...

I was on oxycodone, 40 mg. and live in N.J.. The pharmacy's are telling me that as soon as they run out of it , it will only be available in oxycontin, has anyone else come accross this issue, it happened last month, 7-08.? ## yes,i also take the same thing, and i was also told the same thing.I live in Tennessee. ## That is exactly correct. Due to rampant abuse and theft, the time released Oxycodone is no longer available for generic production, only the name brand will be available. ## Yes, I have heard the same thing. I live in NJ. It was because of a lawsuit. The brand name company doesnt want to keep losing their business to the manufacturer of the generic. I have been on oxycodone for 5 years. I am currently without insurance and had to pay 100% of the generic. It cost 424.00 fo...

OxyContin Oxycodone

Oxycodone, sold under the brand names Roxicodone and OxyContin (which is the extended release form) among others, is a semi-synthetic opioid medication used for treatment of moderate to severe pain. It is highly addictive[12] and a common drug of abuse.[13][14] It is usually taken by mouth, and is available in immediate-release and controlled-release formulations.[13] Onset of pain relief typically begins within fifteen minutes ...

I had extensive back surgery 5 months ago and i also have severe migraines. i have 1 oxycontin 10 mg tab left and i am in a lot of pain today. can I take the oxycontin ? i took 2 tablets of 5/325 oxyco/acetam 3 hours ago ## Hello, Andrayan! How are you? You should be able to take it, as long as your doctor approves. It would best not to combine them, without checking with your doctor, due to the fact that you may risk an overdose, if the dose higher than what you usually take. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Which is stronger? My new insurance won't pay for oxycontin and substituted generic percoset but it doesn't seem to work as well. Is it my imagination? ## Hello, John! How are you? Oxycodone and Oxycontin are the same medication, Oxycontin is just a name brand for the time released version of it, so the 30mgs is stronger, it's just released slowly over an 8 hour period, as compared to the regular release that is released all at once. The FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. You may want to ask our doctor about possibly trying MS Contin, it is a time released formulation of Morphine that is also available as a generic, so most insura...
