I have been taking oxycodone 10-325 for 8 years with no problem and my pain was managed well. But I had to change Pain Management docs and the new doc has Added (not replaced) Opana 7.5 ER to my monthly script. Thoughts on this? ## It is a normal practice to try to help someone get better pain control by adding a time released medication, such as the Opana ER, while using the regular released one for breakthrough pain. Have you tried taking it, yet? The FDA warns that narcotic analgesics carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. ## It is correct that two types of painkillers by working together yet working differently Does help with the pain better. I take 2x a day MS Contin ER 100mg, one in morning...

Can a pharmacist change the date of your next prescription of OPANA because you had some left over from the prior months and didn't pick the new Opana prescription up for 7 days after it was filled. The pharmacist adjusted the next OPana prescription 7 days longer the next time I get the Opana filled ## They sure can. Make sure you always get your rx on time ## Thank you very much for the information. It is good to know. I never thought that would be the case. Steve ## Pharmacists are now responsible for helping to curb opiate issues, such as over prescribing, improper prescribing, and etc. So yes, if you tell them that you have some left, they are expected to adjust accordingly, to avoid anyone being able to stock up on an excess. I'm not saying this is what you were trying to ...

I am on both of these meds do to severe medical issues. I take 40 Mg of opana 4 x daily and 30 Mg of oxycodone 5 x daily as well as Nortriptyline 150 Mg twice daily and neurontin 600 Mg 3 x daily. Needless to say a few different stomach medication due to chronic nausea. Oh and also phenergan pills and injectable. My question is has anyone found anything other than multiple medications to relieve severe chronic pain. ## I also have severe medical problems and nothing works. For two years was on 3Mg iv dilaudid every three hours and 120 percocet 10/325 every month. Zofran for nausea. Overdosed a couple months ago (imagine that) and been dropped four 5/325 percocet a day and now in constant pain... Not sure how to adjust. ## Have either of you ever tried the Fentanyl patch? It's a very...

I never had a problem going to any pharmacy and getting my prescription filled. Now CVS Drug chain states they can't fill it because "They are at their threshold"? What?? Smiths Food and Drug Pharmacies who I could always count on are always out stating "We've gone through our monthly allotment" What?? Does anyone know what morphine withdrawals are like? Just give me a shot gun please!!! Where can I go in Henderson, Nevada to get my medication to just take the edge off of my pain? I can't find a Pain Management Dr to prescribe what I've been taking for years and gives me some quality of life. The Ignorant Pain Management Dr I see monthly now cut my Percocet from 180 ct. to 120 ct. monthly and blamed the (DEA) Drug Enforcement Agency who claims to have don...

5 mg of Opana is approximately equal to 85 mg of oxycodone... ## Hello, LBrown! How are you? I'm sorry, but that is not correct. Opana is actually only twice as strong as Oxycodone, so 5mgs of Opana would be equal to 10mgs of Oxycodone. The FDA classifies these medications as narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects such as nausea, dizziness, constipation, dry mouth and drowsiness. Is there anything I can help with?

is opana a mixture of morphine and oxycodone? i know that it is oxymorphone, but i don't know what that is and i am allergic to morphine. ## No, Oxymorphone is a complete, separate compound, it does not contain Morphine or Oxycodone. However, it is distantly related to Morphine and there is a warning about it being used in patients who are sensitive to or allergic to Morphine. While it is rare, some can be allergic to this, as well. Has your doctor prescribed it or suggested using it? Are they aware of your allergy? Learn more: ## I'm allergic to Morphine and I take 4 40MG Opana ER a day.I've been taking them for 4 months now and no reactions. ## I need a new strong pain killer, not the gradual release kind. I've been taking 8mg. Of Hydromorphone 3x a day for 4yrs. My Pa...

How are you? I'm sorry, but there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. What you need to do is just set up an appointment with a new doctor and then discuss your treatment options, at the appointment. If you ask for a specific medication, ahead of time, that's most likely going to be viewed as being drug seeki...

My Dr. was prescribing me MS Contin 30mg. q 8hrs & Dilaudid 4mg q 4-6hrs. + Celebrex 200mg 1 daily. Now he suddenly took me off the MS Contin, I have been in extreme pain! I asked him to prescribe Opana 40 mg or Oxycodone 30 mg., he said NO that Opana and Oxycodone are the same drug. How true is this? And which pill is the strongest? ## Hi I was getting 90 30s oxycodaines. But 3 days ago.I moved from.New York's to.upstate and I can't find doctor here ## Hello, Mikky! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. What type of doctor has been prescribing them? If you've been being treated by just a regular GP, that may be the problem. There were new regulations put in place that restrict their prescribing practices and those who need such medica...

I am currently on 4 30mg oxycodone ir a day and 2 2mg dillaudid a day and the oxycodone only last 2 hours and the dilaudid doesn't work at all.I've had 2 major surgeries and I'm I'm only 24 and day in day out in extreme constant pain. My question is would switching to OxyContin the new formula be as effective or would swithing to opana be better? Does it have a good euphoria to it Does it have the same euphoria or is it less effective than what I'm on? If anybody can help me out with that I would appreciate it. ## The euphoria that some people experience from these types of medications is purely a temporary side effect and has no bearing on whether or not they are working. It will always wear off as your body gets used to the current dosage and you'd have to keep...

My doctor currently gives me roxicodone 30mg #360, Opana IR 10mg #180, Soma 350mg #120, and Xanax 2mg #90....the only problem now seems to be finding pharmacies willing to fill the oxy's. I was told by my pharmacy (cvc) that they now dont fill beyond 240. Anybody else have this problem in San Diego or know of a pharmacy that will honor the script? Or is this a new state-wide restriction I am unaware of? ## Hey Painman, I haven't heard anything about CVS, but it wouldn't surprise me, they've always been annoying when filling my scripts for the 30's in the past. I always found that Walgreens always had a huge supply of 30's, especially if near a hospital. IF you can't get 30's filled, I would go back to the doctor and have him split your script. Have him wr...

Walgreens said and I quote , " corporate tells us not to refer mail order to patients taking controlled substances/Schedule ll Narcotics. Walgreens does provide a mailorder for your specific prescription needs such as oxycodone. You will need Group insurance through Blue cross blue shield or through United Health Care. They're so much bigger, I sure hope they do because right now I'm getting no relief from my er opana 20mg. One more question, I heard the generic er oxymorphone is better than er Opana, true or false? ## Hello, Tammy! How are you? Have you tried them, yet? There's really no way to say that any particular one is better than another, because we are all different, so what works for one person may not work for another. It's really a matter of finding which works for you to alleviate your pain. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may ...

Hello there. I have been prescribed oxycodone as well as Opana for many years now due to a genetic bone disease. Osteogenesis Imperfecta. I've recently moved to North Myrtle Beach SC. These meds are the only ones that have ever given me any relief. I have been to many pain management clinics with no success in the past. I am simply trying to find a local doctor that understands my condition and can simply write what I need. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My medicine has been changed from oxycodone 30 mg with opana 60mg to the oxy 30 with morpine sul 30 mg er** I was wondering will it work as well? ## Oxymorphone / Opana is quite a bit stronger than morphine, so unless your taking alot more morphine pills I can't see how it can. But maybe you will have a good reaction to it. Good luck! ## I agree with Denzidrine, in that every medication can effect each person differently; so the only way to find out is to actually try it and see how it works for you in comparison to what you're used to taking. Keep in mind though that the inactive ingredients in each tablet also play a significant role in how you react to the medication. Any feedback appreciated. Tkanks Barb ## Both Oxycodone and Opana are very powerful narcotic pain medications, that carry a risk of serious side effects, addiction and overdose. That said, we aren't medical professionals to advise you on this, you really need to speak to your doctor.
