Oxycodone 30 Mg Dosage

I was prescribed 270 30 mg oxycodone take one every 2-3 hours as needed for pain. Is this a common dose? It seems extreme to me but my prior dose is not effectve anymore. ## It is not common, but if you are tolerant to Oxycodone and have been using it for a long time, then it is no necessarily dangerous, either. Many doctors will try this when their patient has build up a tolerance to their current dose and dosing schedule. Especially if alternative medications don't work. I normally use 30-50mg a time each day to maintain my pain. ## Hi Connie, Based on my research, the usual adult dosage for Percocet 2.5/325 is one or two tablets every 6 hours- the maximum daily dose is 12 tablets. Have been taking 30 mg of oxycodone. Went to a different pharmacy to fill. It is a blue pill the only marking on the pill is K 9. Normally will split the pill with a pill cutter. It tends to shatter when I do this the other pills normally would split clean. Relief is not as effective as the other prescription. Wondering if the new pharmacy gave me the wrong dosage. I have been on regular Oxycodone- one 20mg pill every 4-6 hrs a day for approx 6 mos I used to be prescribed 10 MG TWO PILLS every 4-6hrs prior to the switch by my doc. Now, my pain has greatly increased and NOW he has given me 30 mg 4x a day and another script for oxycontin 60mg 2x a day. So a friend of mine was trying to tell me that they make a 60,80 and 100mg IR oxycodone. Not ER oxycontin but IR, I told him he was crazy the highest mg they make for IR is the 30mg Roxicodone. He said they do make them in pill form but choose not to tell us about them because of the already crack down on opioids. Florida now has 32 milligram Capsules Coming from compounding pharmacies they are not allowed to do 30 milligrams capsules because of copying right infringement laws. The pills are solid white with no markings But have 32 / 5 The five is 5 milligrams of dextrose to keep people from them shooting up. there are actually 5 more milligrams in a capsule than there are in a regular oxycodone 30 milligram pill. in a regular Mallinckrodt or other 30 milligram oxycodone there is only 27.5 milligrams in each pill ## I find it odd how drug companies are now (all of a sudden) unable to use a particular dosage because of copyright infringement laws. I'd like to know how much stronger in milligrams the difference is between 30 mg of Methadone and 30 mg of Oxycodone? Of course, the Methadone always worked better and the Oxycodone, same dosage, is not nearly as strong. Consider this! With the change related to Oxycontin my problem is the OP type of Medication just doesn't work! So... My doctor has added additonal 30mg Oxycodone's to my monthly medication list. The problem we are having is coming up with a near equal dosage. Depending upon which phamacist you talk to we are getting differnet answers. It doesn't matter howe many tablets you are prescribed the research is done by considering one 80mg Oxycodone and trying to come up wit hthe equal dosage using 30mg Oxycodone. My brother takes Oxycontin 80 mg. for timed release pain management and 30 mg. roxycodone for break thru pain. He has seen the same doctor and went to the same pharmacy for over 10 years.
