I went to my Pain doc and he changed some of my meds..increasing mg dosage from 15 to 20mg oxycodones..along with oxycontin 10 to 20 mg. Is 20 mg oxycodone time release or not and how can I tell ## If you're prescribed it, there will be an ER on the bottle, what color is the pill and are there any #'s on it? ## The only time released Oxycodone available in the U.S. is the brand name Oxycontin, which has either an OC or an OP on the tablet and would have a 20 on the other and is pink. I have a pink small pill that says k 57. It looks like the grey k 57 oxycodone. Is it the same drug? I was told it is a 20 mg oxycodone. ## That is a 10 mg Roxy. They are pink. The 20 mg ones are gray. The 15 mg ones are green... Usually a light green. The 30 mg ones are blue. Depending on the maker of each of these they can be different shades of pink, green and blue. This pill imprint of Pliva over 468 with a score on the back is identified as an oxycodone hcl extended release 30mg tab. ## Teva Pharmaceuticals, the company that purchased Pliva, lists this tablet as containing 20mgs of Propranolol, which which is used to treat high blood pressure, and certain cardiac conditions. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. There is no generic time released/extended release formulation available, at this time, in the U.S. It is only available from Purdue Pharma as the name brand, Oxycontin. Oxycodone or Oxycontin is this time released? Or immediate release? ## There are no generic formulations available of Oxycontin, there are only generics available of the instant release and the regular release. Additionally, the instant release is only available in 5mg capsules. Thus, if you have a tablet that does not have the OP marking and it is from the U.S., then it is fairly safe to assume that's most likely a regular release tablet. I HAVE BEEN TAKING PAIN Medication it was great for years.The past months I've have noticed a big change the 20mg. I've been on 30mg oxycodone for 10years one month I filled my RX & they were a different brand, they were KVT Tech. The entire month I had no pain relief! I was in so much pain! The next month I got actavis the brand I've always taken & it was night & day! A complete difference I finally got pain relief! We are looking for the Oxycodone Hcl liquid that does not have saccarine sweetner in it. ## Most of them are going to contain some type of sweetener, to prevent the oral solutions from tasting awful. I am not sure which company makes any that don't have one of them in it. Have you tried asking your pharmacist if they can located any? I have been on regular Oxycodone- one 20mg pill every 4-6 hrs a day for approx 6 mos I used to be prescribed 10 MG TWO PILLS every 4-6hrs prior to the switch by my doc. Now, my pain has greatly increased and NOW he has given me 30 mg 4x a day and another script for oxycontin 60mg 2x a day. NOW, I am really drowsy ALL DAY where I was not at all before after this recent change in script. I also DO NOT get the same pain relief. Seems weird----go up in strength and dosage yet now just very tired all the time and less pain effective too..WHY, WHY?. Every time I have to go in the hospital (ANY HOSPITAL) I'm given roxicodone 20mg ( one 15 mg and one 5mg). At home I take a 20 20mg oxycodone. I currently take 20mg methadone twice a day with MSIR 30mg tabs 4 daily=120 total. I am trying to find which dose of oxycodone would be the equivalant of my current dose of Morphine IR. Its been VERY hard filling that script for approx 6 months now and is getting worse. So one option is switching to another medication. Some of the problem is that medicine isnt used as much as it once was.
