This month I have been getting the pain relief from my Oxycontin as before. I am now informed that they hanged the formula from OC to OP and that the OP do not contain Narcan. What am I supposed to do when I am no longer getting the relief I had before. I don't want to have to go to the higher dose just to get the same relief. I had to fight the insurance company for what I was getting before. ## That is correct, the new Oxycontin OP does not contain Narcan, however, if someone tries to misuse the medication, it does turn into a gummy substance that retains its time released properties. This formulation change has resulted in many complaints that it does not work as well as the old formulation and causes off side effects. We have had many posts regarding this, for the past several m...

Opana is terrible both IR and ER, same with Exalgo and even the 8 mg Dilaudid stinks soo folks those of us that truly need pain relief are now screwed. ## I am very sorry to read that you are having a problem. The Exalgo and the Dialudid both contain the same active ingredient, the narcotic Hydromorphine, so if one didn't work for you, then it makes sense that the other wouldn't, either. Opana contains Oxymorphone and from the title of your post, are you saying that the new Oxycontin doesn't work, either? If that is the case, what other options have you discussed with your doctor? On possibility is Morphine, it is available in 3 formulation, instant release, time release and regular release: There is also a time released patch on the market that contains the active ingredien...

i have been taking oxy oc 60mg 2aday as prescribed never abused them last month it was swiched to 60mg of the new oxy op not nearly as effective and double the cost ## Switching to the new one has nothing to do with abuse, everyone has to switch, because they are no longer making the original. Once the pharmacies run out of their current supply, they will all have the new product and can only fill prescriptions with it. There have been many complaints that it is not as effective in the new formulation and some people have mentioned having weird side effects. I suggest reporting the problem to Purdue and the FDA. Purdue Pharma number for drug safety/medication issues: 888.726.7535 FDA MedWatch number: 800-332-1088 Are there any questions or comments?

Please help me. Nancy I am 57 yrears old. ## If the doctor put you on a lower dosage and you went down from 40mg to 30mg, then the shaking and other symptoms you had could have been from the adjustment. Even if you do not abuse a medication, your body still gets used to having that substance in your body in a certain amount and will react to any change. This is what cause...

is there a way to take out the filler ## No, the new Oxycontin OP has been specifically designed to prevent people from doing just that. They are trying to curtail abuse of the medication. It is, however, still supposed to work the same and can cause the same side effects: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Do you have any other questions? ## the new reformulated drug oxycontin op does not have the same effects and pain relief that the oxycontin oc brand has.what should i do?I am on oxycontin 80 oc mg. ## Its not reformulated . And its the same molecular structure as the o.c. you were probably abusing the o.c. which made them into instant release. ## Verwon, the questioner specified OC, NOT OP. The answer is that if you want a SOLUTION which will be instantly available to t...

this is in reply to all who are complaining to the new oxycontin 80 OP. I have been takeing them for 2 years now. My last scrip is still the OC. I pray they are pulled before we get them here. There are other meds we all can go to such as the fent. Patch which comes in a lolly pop too. I bet they will be pulled & back to the old ones before the year is out ## Pharmacies are allowed to continue to dispense the original product, until their stocks runs out, then all will only be able to get the new Oxycontin OP. There have, however, been many complaints that they do not work as well and cause odd side effects, even though they are supposed to work the same and have the same side effects. Anyone that has problems should report them to both the FDA and Purdue at the following numbers: P...

Got my script filled a few days and didn't notice til today that they're OPs. I've also been sick for the past few days - Do OPs make anyone else sick? Lightheaded, dizzy, sleepy, nauseous, flu-like, can't function. Have taken OCs for years and never had these problems. ## Yes, there have been many complaints that they are not as effective and that they cause odd side effects. I am sorry to read that you are having a problem. I suggest reporting the issue to both Purdue and the FDA at the following numbers: Purdue Pharma number for drug safety/medication issues: 888.726.7535 FDA MedWatch number: 800-332-1088 Are there any comments or questions? ## Thanks Verwon: Spoke with my Doc yesterday and she said it sounds like I'm going through some withdrawal because folks ar...

I just got my monthly fill of Oxy 60 oc. But this fill I noticed the pills say 60 and on the other side it is stamped op. Is this the same meds as I have been taking? Thank you. Tom P. ## Yes, it is the same medication, this is just the new Oxycontin OP, it has been specially formulated to help prevent abuse. Otherwise, it still contains Oxycodone, is supposed to work the same and has the same side effects: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Read more: Do you have any other questions?

I've been taking oxycontin 30mg with oc on them - this time i got oxycontin 30 with op on them and they seem to make me sick. What is the difference? ## Oxycontin OP is brand new to the market and is replacing the regular Oxycontin. The only difference is that the Oxycontin OP has been specially formulated to help prevent abuse. Even if someone tries to crush or chew it, it will retain its time released properties. Otherwise, it works the same and has the same side effects: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. I am not certain why it would be making you sick, as compared to the other ones, have you tried contacting your doctor or pharmacist about it? ## the new pill u are now getting is a new formula of the old oc and is supposed to be tamper proof so people cant abuse th...

OMG I felt like I was being posioned. I have taken OC for 3 years now, it has made my life managable. I suffer from severe chronic pain. I started taking the new OP 20mg on Friday 3X daily. After the 2nd dose I felt sick to stomach I did not relate it to pill, After 2nd day I felt like I was going to die. Could not eat or drink or sleep. Had chills like withdrawal symptoms. Day 3 throwing up, stopped taking the pills. Two days have past I now take the Opana, as soon as I started taking the Opana my symptoms were subsiding. I never in my 54 yrs of life felt the sickness I felt those 3 days. I am not an abuser of them. I do take them everyday 3x a day. I normally take the 30mg OC 3x daily and dropped down to 20mg. I call them Oxy Poision OP I will never take another one in my life, even i...

Anyway I have been on 40 mg x two a day of oxycontin for 3 years well it was working fine and controlling my pain. Now I am taking the same meds but on the pill it says op not oc. It is almost like I am not on any pain meds at all. I don't think my dr. Has a clue about the change in the formula. He wants to give me more op. but I must have become immune to the meds and I want to know if any one has had any success with a drug called daliade I know that is not the proper spilling but I was hoping some one out there has experience with this type of pain relief med. I hope everyone will reply to my post. I 'am like thousand of good people who live in pain every minute of the day. And now since Purdue the makers of Oxycontin has reformulated the OC to OP we all suffer. I like all has called Purdue with my concerns not only a complaint on how this new Oxycontin does not work and its side effects. What I will do if I have enough people to respond is to set up a FACEBOOK page were people can add his or her story about how the OP do not work, what side affects he or she is having. Also where everyone can boycott any medication that Purdue sells. When at the Pharmacy ask the Pharmacist to give you another brand of medication not one made by Purdue. Trust me there are many other drug companies who make the same day to day medication we take. From bloo...

Need info what pharmacy sells oc? ## Unless you post your general location, it is going to be difficult for anyone to let you know if any pharmacies in your area still have a supply of them. The chances of anyone still having them in stock, however, is pretty low. The original formula of Oxycontin with the OC marking has been discontinued by Purdue and have been replaced with the new product that has the OP marking. While pharmacies were still allowed to dispense whatever supply they had on hand, once they run out, they have no choice but to switch to the new formulation.
