Dr gave me Nystatin vaginal cream to treat yeast...he told me to applay that cream into vagina for 7 days.I am pregnant six weaks...Is there any risk for baby?I told him that I am pregnant, and he know that... ## Hi Nickol, Based on my research, Nystatin is listed as a Pregnancy category C drug. This means that animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus but there are not any adequate nor well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks. Since your doctor allowed you to use this medication, and he knows you are pregnant, I wouldn't worry. If you notice any side effects such as vaginal discharge, speak with your doctor. It's recommended that the medication is stored at room tem...

I have a yeast infection in my esophgus and my former Dr. did not give me this. Is this product correct ## Hi Bob, I was unable to locate specific details on the combination of these three medications, but I did look up each one individually to get an idea of what their used for: Nystatin is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, mouth, vagina, and intestinal tract. Hydrocortisone is used to relieve the itching, redness, dryness, crusting, scaling, inflammation, and discomfort of various skin conditions. Diphenhydramine is used to relieve red, irritated, itchy, watery eyes; sneezing; and runny nose caused by hay fever, allergies, or the common cold. My husband was prescribed this med after telling his oncologist that he felt like he had something in his throat that was making it hard to swallow. For the last 3 days now he has had constant hiccups. I mean constant(even while sleeping). He's about at the end of his rope. I suggested that he take a dose of the "magic mouthwash". The hiccups stopped for about 15 minutes and then came back. That 15 minutes has been his only relief for 3 days. He had chemo this week as well. I don't know if any of this is related but we HAVE to get these hiccups to stop. ## Hello, Vicki! How is your husband doing? What all medications does he take? The hiccups could be related to one of them. Are Hydrocortisone and Nystatin the only ingredients listed for the magic mouthwash? Its typical ...

My doctor prescribed nystatin and triamcinolone acetonide to be used for yeast infection in my nose. Is it safe to use the cream inside the nostrils. ## Hello, Red! How are you? You should follow your doctor's instructions. Placing a thin later of it inside the nose should allow it to work topically and not result in your actually ingesting it, unless you use far too much. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including skin irritation, rash, redness and dryness. Is there anything else I can help with?

Will nystatin help with my acne? I don't get it very bad. Just a couple pimples, but my chest and back are worse than my face. They get tiny white heads. Will this help or make it worse? I've been on some pills where they make it worse. Any insight you can give is awesome. Thanks. ## Hello, Kas! How are you? No, Nystatin only treats fungal infections, so it will not help with acne. Have you consulted your doctor? They should be able to find something that will help you. Another tip is to always wash those areas of your body last, when showering, that way any lingering oils from your shampoo or other products you use don't stay on the skin to worsen the breakouts.

Is this the right thing to put on it? ## It is really best not to use anything, without your doctor's approval. Using the wrong treatment could actually worsen some problems. I have been taking Oral Nystatin Tablets for a few weeks for high levels of Candida found in an Organization. Acids Test. I noticed that about an hour after taking the medicine I start itching everywhere for abut an hour, maybe less then I am fine. Is this a possible allergic reaction or could it be the "yeasties" in my body reacting to the medicine? Thanks for any perspective on the situation. ## Hello, Jana! How are you doing? Are you still experiencing the itching? It would be best to consult your doctor, that could be the sign of an allergic reaction and such a reaction may continue to get worse, with repeated exposure to the allergen. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain.

Is there an over the counter topical nystatin ## Hi, Carolyn! How are you? No, Nystatin in either topical or oral formulation is only available via prescription. Can nystatin ointment be used on insect bites such as ant or mosquito bites to help the itching relief??? ## Hello, Kay Kay! How are you? No, this is an antifungal medication, so it won't do anything to help with such issues. It would be best to use something specifically made to treat those irritations. I was prescribed nystatin vaginal tablets for a resistant vaginal yeast infection but the pharmacy said it is discontinued. I was given oral tablets instead, will these be effective for vaginal yeast treatment? ## Hi, Mary! How are you? Yes, they should work, but it may take a little bit longer than the vaginal tablets would, since it does have to be processed through your body to do its work, rather than be directly absorbed into the vaginal mucosa. Learn more Nystatin details here. The side effects may also be different, because the oral ones may cause some nausea and dizziness. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am taking a combination of lidocaine, diphenhydramine and nystatin for thrush that I get often from chemo, but this one seems different from the medicine I usually take and I am not liking it too much. Is this the magic mouthwash or did they give me something different? It costs less so that made wonder why. ## Hello, Ginny! How are you? There is no specific mix for magic mouthwash, it really depends on what your doctor orders, and what your pharmacy has in stock, when they create it for you, since it is not an actual manufactured product. The ingredients, and the amounts of them can vary from area to area, and from doctor to doctor. What about it seems different? The FDA lists the typical side effects of this ingredient as including mouth/throat numbness, funny taste, and nausea.

Can this cream be used to treat plantars warts on the bottom of the foot? ## Hi Kim, Information on the packaging label indicates that Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream is indicated for the treatment of cutaneous candidiasis. It doesn't specify whether or not it can be used to treat anything else outside of that, but who knows, it may be worth a shot if it's the only thing you have at your disposal. The dosage and administration guidelines note the following: "Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream is usually applied to the affected areas twice daily in the morning and evening by gently and thoroughly massaging the preparation into the skin. The cream should be discontinued if symptoms persist after 25 days of therapy." You can view the manufacturer's la...
