How much time it will take to recover as my mother is suffering from sodium deficiency since one month.She is 66 years old having bone problem along with BP & sugar.Level of serum sodium is 102.5 mg.is there any other medicine to be started or Natrise is sufficient. Please advise me.

My mother, age 80, has been advised to have Natrise once a day everyday. She has been having it regularly for the past few months except once after every 35 to 45 days the doc stops the medication for 10-15 days. But without Natrise my mother's sodium level dips to 122 within 5 to 7 days. She has mild diabeties too. What are the ill effects of Natrise if consumed on a daily basis? ## My mother also has the same condition and uses home-made recipes to increase her sodium levels.

NATRISE TAB CONSIST OF SALT TOLVAPTAN ,is given to my father aged 78 yrs, for sodium difficiency , Is there any side effect of the same and how long he has to take this medicine , being too costly. Do they know what caused the hyponatremia? Does he suffer from CHF? As to alternative medications, I really don't know what's available there. Have you tried asking the pharmacist/chemist? They should be able to help. The side effects may include: nausea, problems with muscle control, mood changes and dizziness.
