I took Estra-noreth for 3 1/2 weeks and stopped taking it. I started spotting and vaginal bleeding. I have not had a period in 7 years and started this drug for hot flashes. Is it normal to bleed upon stopping the drug? ## Hi T Smith, Based on my research, vaginal spotting or breakthrough bleeding is a side effect of Estra-noreth (Estradiol + Norethindrone). It's possible that it is still in your system and is trying to work its way out. If this problem worsens I would definitely contact your doctor, just to be safe. I hope this helps!

I had to change hormone treatments as Estratest was taken off the market. I have been taking estradiol for a year now and was not happy with it. Last week I had to see my doctor for yearly visit and guess what?...Estratest IS back on the market. The same dark green pills as before and I am ecstatic. I have my prescription filled at our local CVS instead of Wal Mart, where I always seemed to get partial script. Hopefully now I will get my libido back and the relationship I used to have with my husband. Just wanted to let other women out there know that Estratest is truly back!! ## Hi Paulette, Thank you for sharing that information! Here's some additional information regarding Estratest: Estratest is a hormone replacement therapy medication that combines esterified estrogens with met...

Ethinyl Estradiol Drug Index

Ethinylestradiol (EE) is an estrogen medication which is used widely in birth control pills in combination with progestins.[7][8] In the past, EE was widely used for various indications such as the treatment of menopausal symptoms, gynecological disorders, and certain hormone-sensitive cancers. It is usually taken by mouth but is also used as a patch and vaginal ring.[7][12] The general side effects of EE include breast tendernes...

I too have taken estratest in its original formulation for 6 yrs with great results post hysterectomy, in conjunction with a Femring .05. The original medication is no longer available. The generic in half dose or double strength did not work for me, especially in regards to libido. I am now using the Femring in conjunction with a compounded testosterone cream from Koshland in SF at .5 per pump, one pump per day. It has only been a few weeks, but this regime works and I feel as I did using the original estratest. I hope this helps other women who have been affected by this arbitrary pharmaceutical decision with no advance warning to us, other than to pick up your prescription which is no longer the same, be told it's the same, and then have to deal with the agonizing fallout of a ho...

My 65 pound ate one. 5mg estradiol will it hurt het ## Dear cheese, I would call the Vet, right away. ## @Cheese, Sorry to hear about your dog getting ahold of birth control. I'd imagine that must've been an awkward experience wondering how the dog might react in that moment lol. Although I see you posted this back in May, earlier this year. Do you have any feedback on the status of your dog now? To summarize my own investigation/research on the topic, the levels of toxicity for estrogen are not often reached via the ingestion of contraceptive pills, and is reported to be at dosages greater than 1 mg/kg of body weight. And please correct me if I'm wrong, but this means that a 25lb dog would need to consume quite a few of these pills for a toxic effect. So if I understand tha...

I was told today to contact my dr to get my hormone meds change because they were no longer making estratest. Can you comfirm this? ## Yes it has been discontinued. Today i got a refill because the pharmacy still has some left. My problem is the color of the tablets is not the same. I am confused as to the strength. These are light green with IP 78. The others were dark green with 1409 on them. I was on Estratest HS (half srength?). These new light green ones say DS (double strength?) My original light green ones say HS. Not sure what to do. Doctor isn't much help. He just says we need to put me on estrdial which has no testosterone and maybe use a cream, but I want to stay on these as long as I can, they work so well! I actually have an orgasm with these!! (I'm 61) ## Yea I was...

I have been taking estra/noreth 0.5 for a little over a month for menapausal symptoms. I havent had a period for 5 years and started bleeding. I know that breakthrough bleeding is a side effect but was wondering if this is temporary or will happen every month? ## Hello, Kitty! How are you? Sorry about the bleeding, I know that's something we certainly don't want back, once it stops! Since you are post-menopausal, any bleeding should be checked by your doctor just to be safe and make sure that it's only being caused by the HRT. However, it most likely is nothing to worry about, it happens to most women when they take HRT and it usually only happens once. Even though you are menopausal, your body still produces estrogen, which does cause buildup of the endometrial lining...

Is Estradiol made by Barr gluten free? ## Hello, Pam! How are you? What are the markings on it? I'm sorry, but without this information, I can't check the inactive ingredients for you. Sometimes what's listed by the pharmacy is just a licensed distributor, not the actual manufacturer. Can you please post back with this additional information? Thanks! The FDA classifies this as a hormonal supplement and lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS like symptoms. ## I have the same medication question. Light purple oval shaped with B on front and 886 1 on back. ## I have been feeling like I was "glutened" after only taking 2 doses
