I'm on hydrocodone 7.5 and my doctor also gave me MS Contin 60mg CR.. If I completely stop my hydrocodone will I have any withdrawals while taking the MS Contin CR as prescribed? 1 a day.. Or can I take 2 MS Contin per day?? ## Hello, Heather! How are you? You should only take it as prescribed, so if your doctor has noted once daily, then you shouldn't exceed that, without their approval. Hydrocodone and Morphine are equivalent on a one to one ratio, so no, you shouldn't experience any withdrawals on the 60mg dose. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

These dont seem to work can you take every 8hrs instead of 12hrs ## Hi Mike, It sounds to me like the dosage may not be strong enough for you; but to answer your question, the usual adult dose for pain is 5 to 30 mg every 3 to 4 hours as needed (when taking it Orally, Sublingual, or Buccal). The dosing indications for MS Contin (Morphine Oral) also state that "extended-release" tablet dosages range from 10 mg to 600 mg daily, given in equally divided doses every 8 to 12 hours or given as one dose every 24 hours. So depending on whether or not your tablets are extended-release, you should have some flexibility with the hours. I hope this helps! ## They are extend release ## If anyone is looking for a "buzz" with MS Contin, you are very unlikely to get it. These pills are ...

So I just got switched from oxymorphone 30mg ER to the MS CONTIN 30 30MG AND 30 60MG ER'S a month. I tried to get my doc to just write me 40 100mg MS CONTIN but he did not do that. Everybody knows that different mg's act differently like when I took 56 of the 20mg oxymorphone era. They sucked so bad not even 3 20's equaled one 30mg oxymorphone. So knowing from past experience I tried the 100mg MS CONTIN about 5yrs ago from a friend and they worked GREAT exactly the perfect mg I needed but knew I would never be able to get my doc to write that high of a mg. And I was right 5yrs later I still can't get it. I tried explaining it to him but he wasn't having it. So my question is what manufacturer is the best for the 60's and 30's? N yes I know EVERYONE is differe...

Can you safely take ambien CR while on MS Contin ER 60 mgs? The ms contin makes me sleepy but I still can't fall asleep. I've been taking ambien cr for over a year. My pain Dr. just switched hydrocodone for MS Contin.. any information on this combination will be appreciated. Thanks ## Hello, Heather! How are you doing? It would be best to double check with your doctor, before combining these medications. They both cause depression of the central nervous system, which may be problematic for some people. This might cause dangerously lowered heart rate, blood pressure and breath rate, which could lead to coma or be fatal. The FDA classifies MS Contin as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsines...

I got a serious question to ask .I just had lower back surgery, a fusion with a cage.My dr.have me the fentanal 50MCG PATCHES,WITH 60 MG OF MS CONTIN EVERY 12 HRS. AM I GONNA BE OK IM MORE AFRAID OF OVER DOING IT .IM ALSO SUPPOSE TO BE ON 15 MG of roxy every 4 hrs as well but i haven't gotten them filled yet. My main question is am i takin to much 60 ms cotin with 50MCG OF FENTAYL?? I hope i could get some simple feedback on this.thank you. ## Whether or not such dosages are too much is entirely relative to the person taking them. It may be too much for some people, but not for others. If you are really concerned about overdose, you could speak to your doctor about starting small, then working up to taking more, if you need to do so. The FDA warns that these medications carry the ri...

I've been on Lortab for 21 years after back surgery. I also had a morphine pump implant, 3 of them to be exact. But after the last one failed I decided that after 13 years of being stuck in the stomach with needles every 2 months to refill the pump, I wanted it removed permanently. So in addition to the Lortab for pain I was put on Ms Contin(morphine sulfate) 30 mg..But I've found myself going through a vicious cycle with these 2 pain meds and have become very addicted to both drugs. My doctor recently increased the dosage of the ms contin to 60 mg. 3 x a day. Does anyone else take these pain meds? If so what kind of long term effect have they had or do they have on you? I'm up in age now and truly hate taking all these pain medications but don't see a way out. I have se...

I have been on two 60mg Ms contin, with 15 mg morphine ir 4x a day. It's not working as well since my surgery. Now I have changed to two 60mg Ms contin with 10 mg oxycodone 3x a day. Will this combination work better and last longer? ## Have you tried taking the new combination, yet? The only way to discover if it will work better for you is by actually trying it. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

what store has the cheapest price ## I really cannot tell you. It depends on you area, whether you are getting the name brand or the generic and what the store has available. There is no universal price from one pharmacy to the next and it can vary greatly from area to area. Have you tried calling different pharmacies in your area to ask?

I am having trouble with the switch, not sleeping, eating, feel anxious, like I have taken 8000mg caffeine. It does help the pain but the side effects are so unpleasant. I had the same reaction with demerol, opana, & fentanyl. Does anyone have experience or suggestions. I have 5 degenerated discs from breaking my back 40 yrs, ago. ## You're going from taking Methadone to trying something different? If so, then that's probably why right there. Methadone is very well known to be highly addictive and to cause severe withdrawal symptoms. The only thing that's going to help improve that is time, as your body slowly adjusts to no longer taking it. Learn more MS Contin details here. That is actually why most people that take it for addiction treatment end up requiring a lifetime ma...

I have been taking 60mg ms contin extended release 3 times a day + 30mg oxycodone immediate release 4 times a day. Recently my doctor changed the oxycodone to morphine 30mg immediate release. He also added lyrica 75 mg and I also take baclofen 10mg & amitriptyline 50mg in which i take 2. I'm still in constant pain. I was shot 8 yrs ago and I still hardly feel relief. What will help me? ## Hello, Shy! How are you? Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so the dosages are not equivalent, which likely explains why you are in pain. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. As to the Lyrica, that may take 4 to 5 weeks, before it reaches ...

Has anyone had as much trouble getting a steady suppy of M.S.Contin 60Mg.? After taking Oxycontin 80 Mg for several years For my skrewed up neck my pharmacy stopped carrying it and had to have it delivered from my lonetime health ins. co.The 8 months(?) they shipped it to me it was a couple of days, first two,three,5-7,7-10,now its 10-14 days so was out all the time. Those Oxy withdrawls are horrible, then got reformulated stuff that turned into hard "epoxy" overnight. Then I was told I tampered with it no exchange and wouldn't analyze. Started on M.S. I cant see that morphine 15 mg does anything for me. I was taking 40 mg oxcontin twice a day and something else for breakthrough pain. Since going on medicare supplement insurance I can't get the oxycontin through the company. I was taking dilaudid for the breakthrough pain but living, in Florida, I can't find it at all here. Does Oxcodone do as good as the morphine? I don't know that I can even get that here though. They have cracked down so much on what is dispensed in Florida that any meds is hard to get. Thanks for answering. ## Hello, Jeanne! How are you? I think the problem may be with the dosage of the MS Contin that you're on. Oxycodone is stronger, so for each 40mgs of it that you were taking, you'd need 60mgs of the MS Contin to be equivalent in analgesic e...

WHAT HAPPENS IF I SPLIT THE PILL IN HALF ## My doctor prescribed 60 MG tablets and told me to cut them in half if I need 90 mg. I din't think much about it, but after reading the information on MS Contin, I am worried that it may be dangerous to cut them in half. I've been doing it for about 5 days and have not noticed any problems with cutting them in half but I will call the pharmacy tomorrow and ask him. ## Is it in order to break GP1 glimepride into two to reduce the dosage to 0.50mg.Will it cause any problem and whether any reduction in effectivenes of the tablet will be possible. ## I have done it for a while to cut down, and a pharmacist said I could. No problems. But my dr got furious when I told him, and I have read on Internet now not to. But the pills I take are solid...

My Doctor just switched my Lortab to MS Contin 60 mg, 12 hr. time release. I had been taking Lortab for 13 yrs and it was no longer effective. I am achieving pain relief with MS Contin but my entire body itches. Will this symptom go away with time? I do recall that I had itching when first using Lortab which eventually went away. Has anyone had the same experience and does the itching go away? Thanks so much!! ## itching is common side effect of many pain medications with oxycontin or oxycodone being the worse, consult with your Dr. in regards of using bendryl, this can cause drowsiness so be careful ## MS Contin contains the active ingredient Morphine CR, which is a very potent narcotic analgesic. The itching is not a very common side effects, however, some people do experience it. You...

What is The Difference in a Big round peach color MS Contin 60 mg extended release and a Small round orange MS Contin 60 mg extended release are they same pills ## does MS Contin have an antagonist drug encapsulated in it to prevent misuse? I suffer from chronic pain from a severe back injury and My Generic MS Contin seems like it isn't working nearly at all! I had heard that the drug Nazis (D.E.A.) was making the manufacturers of Time Release narcotics put this in extended release drugs to save people from themselves. IF THIS IS TRUE IT IS A MORONIC IDEA as everyone has different PH levels that can open the antagonist drug prematurely. I can't take much more from those who know how much more I hurt than myself! I have never crushed up any pill but a chewable antiacid. Is the D....

I have tried every where to find out how many milligrams are released and how often in a controlled release 60 mg MS Contin pill... If I take a 60 mg controlled release MS Contin, is 5mg released every hour or is 15mg released every 2 hours? That was just an example so I am understood. Thank you. ## Are you taking the name brand, or a generic? The answer can vary depending on who has manufactured the tablets in question. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Generally, there is a steady release rate, but it can also depend on how much fluids you are taking in, your stomach acid, and etc.

My ex was being malicious and called my doctors office telling them I was an addict and questioning how much medication I should be taking (2 or 3) I take MS Contin 60 mg. Two days later, I get a letter from my doctor stating that I was an addict and he was dropping me. I wrote the dr and told him I will bring my pills in so he can count them and give me a drug test however, now the dr won't even call me back. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? I have MS, disc problems and neuropathy pain plus, a metal plate in my neck. ## Unfortunately, the only thing I can really suggest is that you find a new doctor. Under U.S. law, if you are not currently in life threatening danger, no doctor is obligated to keep you as a patient or to continue to treat you, so you really have no rec...

I found a pill which i think to be either morphine, or mscontin. It is round shaped. Lite lavender in color. On one side it has a big M imprint, while on the other it has a "ms" on top of "30". I really need some advice here. I am a cancer patient with a rare tumor. I have taken OxyContin 60MG and OxyCodone 5MG for breakthrough for over 10 years. My DR and I agree it is time to try other medications as I need more pain relief. I do not yet know how many MG he will prescribe for any of these medications. I realize that it would be easier to help answer my questions but any input in general I appreciate. He has given me 3 different meds to choose from: Ms Contin , Morphine & Methadone. Hoping to get others opinions on these. Whether it's regarding pain relief, side effects, etc. Whether it's just about the medication or about in comparison to my current pain meds. I think he will keep me on the 5mg Oxycodone for breakthroughs ( although not positive. ) ANY and ALL th...
