Can you tell me if I can drive while I am taking 2 x 20mgs morphine sulphate per day? ## Have you discussed this with your doctor or pharmacist? It really depends on how it affects you and your ability to drive. Morphine is a potent narcotic, so it can cause drowsiness, dizziness and euphoria, in some people, which could impair their ability to be safe behind the wheel. There are several posts on our site from people that thought they were fine, but got pulled over and fined, for being under the influence of certain medications, so you do need to be very cautious. You may also want to look into your DUI and DWI laws.

ETHEX Brand Oval E one side 60 other side - is this M.S. contin 60mg? ## Yes, this is a 60 mg Morphine Sulfate controlled release manufactured by Ethex. ## Is Morphine Sulphate ER and Morphine Sulphate CR the same medication? If not, what is the difference? ## ER is extended release. CR is controlled release ## I have been taking morphine sulfate 30 mg ER for 2 years and it just is not working for me anymore. My Dr prescribed me Hydrocodone 10 mg/650 every 6 hrs for break through pain. But it seems to make me ache and feel worse.. is there a stronger morphine dose I could take instead of taking the Hydrocodone. ## there are a numbers of solutions for you to choose in this situation . i would need to know the severitys of your pain level and your injury before making a exact recommendati...

i want to reduce dependence on pain meds (6 yrs. so my Doc ordered me morphine sulphate 10 mg capsules instead of the MS 15 mg ER. Insurance won't approve the change due to cost & now while the Doc & insurance are arguing about it I'm running out of MS tonite. Doc hasn't called back. I do have some 5/325 hydrocodone but not sure how much to take in lieu of the MS 15 ER. ## Have you had any luck, yet? I know how frustrating it is, when your insurance is controlling your treatment, rather than your doctor. The FDA warns that Morphine carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Ref: Morphine Information

I've been on OxyContin for ten years. My insurance company decided I had to go on morphine sulphate er. I have a bad headache. Can I take fioricet? ## Hello, Joy! How are you? It would be best to check with your doctor first, mixing them can increase sedation, which could be too much for some people, depending on overall health. The FDA warns that Morphine carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. i have been taking morphine sulphate 90mg a day tablets.i want to start on subutex instead of the morphine sulphate tabs.i have subutex but i am worried if i take it first thing when i wake and i still have the morphine sulphate in my system i will go straight into withdrawals.is this right please help ## The Subutex only contains Buprenorphine, which is a narcotic, it does not contain the Naloxone that would throw you into withdrawals. Suboxone is the medication that contains both Buprenorphine and Naloxone. Learn more Subutex details here. What instructions has your doctor given for the transition? ## Doctors dont like to hear that the medication simply does not work anymore. However hydrocodone, out of the family of opiodes is literally the worst one for your liver and kidneys. and o...

I WAS ON THE 30mg ETHEX, THEN THE FDA ( SAW THE OFFICIAL LETTER) CLOSED THE WHOLE FACTORY DOWN, SO IF YA'LL ARE STILL GETTING THEM BE PREPARED THEY WILL CHANGE YOUR BRAND...ANYHOW MY QUESTION IS WHAT BRAND IS THE 30mg IMM RELSEA-FOAM GREEN ONES? I WOULD GIVE YOU THE #'S BUT HAVE IN ETHEX BOTTLE & THEY GOT DAMP!!! ## Unfortunately, without the marking, I cannot tell you who the manufacturer is, because the colors do not mean anything, that is entirely up to the whit and whim of the manufacturer and the MS IR generics are made by several different companies. Morphine is a very potent narcotic analgesic. Some common side effects that users may experience can include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. i have been taking 60mg.morphine sulfate with little relief i just started on methadone hcl 10mg. & found them to be stronger & more effective my wife just believes that it is the change but i am convinced the methadone is stronger who is right? ## It would take 15mgs of Methadone to equal each 60mgs dose of the Morphine, so I'd have to give the win to your wife. However, there is a caveat, it may not be just because of the change to a different medication, it could be due to the fact that the Methadone may just work better for you. Learn more Methadone details here. Sometimes the equivalency or one being stronger doesn't matter, if one just works better with your body. Everyone is different and this happens quite frequently. Are there any other questions I can help with...

My friend isnt happy right now, having bad problems wants to overdose. she thinks twenty morphine sulphate tablets would kill her. Tried telling her they probably wouldnt they'd make her ill. Would they kill her? ## It really depends on how tolerant she is to the Morphine and how high of a dosage she is used to taking. There are some people, who have not used it frequently, for whom much less than that amount could be a fatal dosage. But, if someone is quite used to high doses of the medication, they might tolerate that amount or just get sick. If she is really contemplating suicide, then she needs help. Have you tried contacting her doctor or a hotline to get advice?

I took morphine sulphate 6 hours ago and am still in pain. I have oramorph as well. Can I still take it? ## Hello, Caz! How are you? What instructions have been provided with the medications? There are actually both forms of Morphine, so you could end up overdosing, if you take another one, too soon. The U.S. FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation.

i am on morphine sulphate and oxycodone the oxy helps the morphine doesnt is there an alternative to morpine ## There are many other narcotic pain medications on the market. The one most commonly used to replace Morphine, since it is more powerful and requires a much lower dosage is Opana, which contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone. You would have to consult your doctor, though, on what is safe to use with the Oxycodone. Have you consulted your doctor? You can learn more on the medication here: It is also available in a time released version, called Opana ER. ## an there be a reaction if I take 30 mg morphine sulfate and have a few drinks

The pill is dark purple in color. Does this correspond to Watson's Morphine Suilphate ER 30 mg. ## Two major back surgeries & recent neck injury.. ## I cannot give you a positive ID without the imprint from the tablet. Can you please post back with this information? Morphine ER is the generic for MS Contin, a 12 hour time released, narcotic pain reliever. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You can read more about it here:

I ran out of Opana ER 40mg. I take 7 tabs at a time. That is 280mgs. I have Morphine Sulphate ER 200mg each. How do I do a conversion so I know how many Morphine Sulphate to take until I can get my script for Opana refilled? ## Wow! That's a very high dosage to be taking and I'm very sorry that you ran out. How did you run out? Is your doctor aware that you take that many at once? I'm not trying to be rude or anything, I am just concerned, since that is such a large dosage and has the potential to be dangerous. Learn more Morphine details here. As to the conversion, Opana is stronger than Morphine, so you'd require 840mgs of the Morphine to be equal to the 280mgs of Opana, but it is a time released formulation, so you can't cut or split the tablets. And I also have t...

I think the 100 mg is a grayish color with 100 mg on one side and a TP inside a square on the other; I think the 10 mg morphine pill is a light blue color with pms on one side and scored on the other ## Since Morphine is available as a generic, the way it looks and the markings it has on the tablets is going to vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. That said, the one marked TP 100 is NOT a Morphine tablet, nor any type of narcotic. It contains 100mgs of Topirimate, an anticonvulsant medication. It is made by Apotex, they have a similar pill on the Canadian market that is yellow and includes their APO logo on one side of it. The tablet you have marked PMS is also NOT Morphine or any type of narcotic. It contains 40mgs of Propranolol, which is most commonly used to help lower blood pres...

I am in a confusing debate with my ex husband: Which is stronger, 30 mg of morphine sulfate E.R or 10 mg of methadone? ## Methadone is stronger than Morphine, just as an example, if you were taking the 30mgs of Morphine, the equivalent dosage of Methadone would only be 3mgs, so it's a roughly 1mg to 10mg ratio. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I was on Methadone tablets for 13 years with a NY pain mgmt doctor who worked alongside an Orthopedic surgeon who originally diagnosed my lumbar-sacral pain from DDD (L5/S1) and nerve damage in my legs, plus osteoarthritis in hips and spine. My Methadone dose began at 30mg/day, and at it's highest 10 yrs later, was on 150mg/day. I had gastric bypass surgery in 2009, and lost 130 lbs by 2010. My Methadone dosage was able to be bro...

for 3 years my dr. was prescribing me three 60mg morphine sulphate er and four 30mg ms ir daily. when it became impossible to get MS in Florida, he switched me to Fentanyl patch 12MCG/HR every 3 days and 7.5mg-200 hydrocordone , 1 every 8 hours. the pain was unbearable and I felt terrible. cold sweats, shakes, could'nt think straight. when I asked him to increase dosage, he increased the patch to 25 MCG, but said there was more MS in the 7.5-200 hydrocodone than the 30mg tabs of ms. do you agree? Also, how does the patch equate to the Three 60MG MS er I was taking daily? Prior to this Dr.,after I moved 200 miles away,, my orthopedic surgeon was prescribing me Oxycontin, or oxycodone. When I called him 3 years ago and told him The new pain management Dr. switched to MS, he said its l...

Morphine 30 sulfate er made by Mylan does not help relieve pain does anyone else have that problem ## I too am finding morphine sulphate ER manufactured by Mylan is not as effective. Almost like going through early withdrawal symptoms, for example, morphine usually paralyzes intestinal movement and causes constipation. I am having cramping and looser stools. I question the correct amount contained in the tablets. ## Sorry to hear about your recent experiences. Medications can and often do affect everyone differently, whereas some people get great results, but there are others that it inevitably just doesn't work for no matter how much they take. However in the case of this particular drug, it seems the majority of people posting on here don't like Mylan's version of it. Addi...

I'm on 1 extended release MS extended release every 12 hours and accidentally took it twice. Should I be concerned? Never had this happen before. ## Hello, Barbara! How are you? Did you experience any adverse effects? Doubling up like that may create a risk of overdose, so it could be dangerous. Anytime you are worried about such an issue, you should immediately contact your doctor or call emergency services, rather than post on a free website and wait for an answer. While there are always those of us online that are happy to help, we cannot administer life saving measures over the Internet, should they be required. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drow...

I have been prescribe 15mg. of morphine sulphate , one per day. due to lightheadedness is it safe to reduce to every other day. ## Hello, Sinclair! How are you doing? It should be okay to do so, as long as your doctor approves. Is this a time released formulation or a regular release tablet? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
