I'm so tired... have been taking it for 1 month and getting more tired each day. Is this a side effect? ## Have you consulted your doctor? These can be normal side effects, but they should start to taper off after about 4 to 6 weeks of use. Have you been checking your blood pressure? How have the readings been? ## I have been on metoprolol for about 8 yrs if not more. I did not realize that I've been skipping taking the pill regularly due to my mother passing away and also started taking viibryd a month and half ago. Out of nowhere I started to feel racing heart beats, labored breathing, stiff & swollen fingers, blurred vision, very angry, very very sleepy and more depressed. I thought it was the viibryd which I spoke to my doctor about who wants me to wean off the viibryd n...

I was prescribed this medicine back in december. I have been taking it faithfully. I am a 46 yr old woman with no prior heart problems. I was placed on this medication for hypertension. I take 1 pill daily at night only. I have alot of the common side effects ie: fatigue, diaharrea, chills, night sweats, yellowing eyes, hair loss and mental and mood changes. But, I now have an added problem, menopause... I am wondering what if anything I can take that won't cause more problems than I already have? Herbal ? ## Hi Jaclyn, Although I'm not a doctor, I would probably suggest leaning towards a more natural approach if you don't want to worry about having quite as many side effects. Have you considered looking into Essential Oils for menopause symptoms? One that comes to mind is C...

Metoprolol is used to treat several types of cardiovascular diseases, including high blood pressure. Some of the most common side effects include: dizziness, headache, diarrhea and vision problems. ## I have been on Toprol xl 25 for 5 years. When it came out in the generic form, I took that. It was manufactured by Par. I recently moved and had to refill my prescription and I got it at CVS which only has Ethex generic Metoprolol XL 25. My doctor just put on Metoprolol ER Succinate 25 mg is this part of the recent recall? ## Metoprolol is a beta blocker that is used to treat hypertension and some cardiac problems. As to whether or not it was part of the recall, I can't tell you anything, without knowing the manufacturer of the particular pills you have receive, since this a generic that is made by several different companies and not all were involved in the recall. However, it is doubtful that they are, since your pharmacy would have already removed anything that met the criteria of the recall from their shelves and returned them, so they are not dispensed to the public. This medication may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and headache. Learn more: Are there any other questions?

I've been on 25mg, Extended Release, of Metroprolol Succinate for a while, about four or five years I think - never on a higher dosage. It was prescribed for hypertension, along with Diltiazem and Hydrochlorothiazide. The doctor took me off of the Diltiazem about a year ago, so now it's just been the Hydro and Metoprolol. I've lost 60 pounds in the last year, and my heart rate was very low when I saw the doctor on Friday, so he said to discontinue the Metoprolol. I asked him if I should wean off of them, and he said no, it was perfectly OK to stop them cold turkey. I told him that when I had run out of pills a few months back for about three days, my heart started racing and beating erratically. He still said it was OK to just stop them. I've been Googling this, and can ...

I used to take 25mg of metoprolol er succinate for 2 yrs. Dr. Moved up dosage to 50 mg a month ago and I am sooo tired. I take it with dinner around 6 each evening. Would it be ok to take at bed time......afraid if I take it in the morning I'll sleep all day! ## Hello, Emily! How are you? It can be taken at night, as long as your doctor approves. The reason they usually tell someone to take it in the morning is so that it can help control blood pressure and heart rate during the times of a day a person will usually experience the most fluctuations. However, this is the time released formulation, so there should not be a problem. The FDA patient advisory leaflet lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is ...

Recently I have been having trouble with my vision, especially after reading or being on the computer for awhile. It's like a film over my eye. I went to an optometrist, and his diagnosis was that my tear ducks were not working properly, mostly in one eye but a little also in the other. He said that this could be a side affect of metoprolol, which I have been taking for several weeks -- (Metoprolol ER succinate 25mg. twice a day. Is it ok to take cialis 20mg with lisinopril 20mg and metoprolol er succinate 25mg or could it lower my heartbeat to a dangerous level? I have a fibulator implant. ## Yes, there is a risk that it could lower your blood pressure or heart rate to dangerous levels, according to FDA warnings. These ED medications tend to work similarly to blood pressure medications by thin your blood, or improving the blood flow throughout your body, so they can cause some problematic issues, if combined. Has your doctor prescribed them all for you? Are these the only medications you are currently taking?

Metoprolol succinate 25mg made by Mtg. Lannett Company - What fillers are used? I've been having stomach pains and can take up to 6 daily. ## What are the markings on the tablets in question? Can you please post back with this information? The reason I am asking is because sometimes the manufacturer listed on a bottle from your pharmacy is just a licensed distributor, not the actual manufacturer, so I need more information to find the correct details for you. The FDA does warn that Metoprolol may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. What are you taking it to treat? It is very unusual for this medication to be prescribed for anyone to take up to 6 daily, since it is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure, and certain ...

Recall of metoprolol ## There has been much talk about this lately, and it does appear that it is being recalled from certain manufacturers, and certain doses. Original Discussion Thread: Another related discussion thread: "Sandoz is voluntarily extending the September 17, 2008, recall of Metoprolol Succinate Extended Release Tablets 25mg and 50mg, to include all strengths of distributed lots with expiration dates through August 2010. This voluntary action by Sandoz is due to deficiencies in documentation practices and in-process controls for this product. This voluntary recall is being conducted down to the retail level with the knowledge of the FDA. The affected lots were shipped approximately between November 2006 and October 2008.
