I switched pharmacies and the pills look different - it didn't concern me, and research says they are the same thing. However, I FEEL different. My heart starts racing, then returns to normal, and I have tremendous pressure in my head. Pharmacy A uses round white pill w/ M 100 on one side, scored on othe. Pharmacy B is round white with M 3 on it, and a score between the characters, blank on other side. B is the one I am struggling with. Would there be a difference in how I feel? ## Hello, Susan! How are you? Yes, they are both 100mg Metoprolol tables, they're just manufactured by different companies. However, under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, there can be slight differences in the amount of the active ingredient in generics, so this new one may be a little stronger than the on...

I have. Pacemaker I had high blood pressure during my last visit, my doctor switched my mess from twice daily Metoprolol Succinate ER 50 mg twice daily to a 100mg Metoprolol Succinate SA. This has made me so tired I could sleep all day, no energy fatigue trouble balancing weakness. What is the difference and do these symptoms go away I've been on this for a week ## They should go away, with time, as your body gets used to the medication, but it may take about 4 to 5 weeks. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have white coat and anxiety. My doctor has had me on Metoprolol 100mg succinate once a day and just switched me to 100mg tartrate twice a day since my BP was high in his office. Is this dangerous or the dosage too high? Seems like a high dosage. ## Hello, Kera! How are you? What are your bp levels at other times? If it's really only high, when you're in the doctor's office, a medication isn't necessary. Even an ER won't treat for that, they will only do so if levels are dangerously elevated. As to the medication, it is actually safe in doses up to 450mgs a day. ## I take Lisinopril 10 mg a day and Metoprolol 100 mg at night. My blood pressure is still elevated around 150s/90s. My cardiologist has told me to double the Metoprolol to 100 mg a day. That seems like a l...

are these the same drug? I have both and want to be sure they are the same. ## Metoprolol Succinate is an extended-release medication and Metoprolol Tartrate is an immediate-release medication. Because Metoprolol Tartrate is an immediate release tab, it would most likely require the patient to take additional pills throughout the day in comparison to the extended release version. Additionally, generics may also have different levels of potency (as they are allowed to contain up to 20% more or less of the actual active ingredient). Furthermore, each tablet has its own composition of inactive ingredients (binders/fillers) that can also significantly effect the absorption rate of the drug itself, making it more or less effective overall. I hope this info helps to answer your question! ## T...

Can you tell me the difference between the above med. and Metoprolol TAB TAR 100 MG? Thank you ## Metoprolol Suc (Succinate) ER is an extended release (hence the ER in the name) tablet. Metoprolol Tar (Tartrate) is an immediate release medication. Would you happen to know if these two drugs are coming from different manufacturers? Also, I am guessing that with the TAR you have to take more doses throughout the day than with the SUC? Hope this helps! You can read more about this drug on the page for ...
