I just saw on t.v. that certain medications shouldn't be taken with acidic drinks. Is metoprolol Tarta 50mg one of these drugs? I am a 2-cups-a-morning coffee drinker. ## Hello, Gary! How are you? I'm not sure what you saw on TV, but I have never heard anything like that. If a medication shouldn't be taken with something due to possible interactions, such as those that may occur with grapefruit juice, there will be a warning on your prescription bottle. Do you have any other details on what you saw? Were they talking about some specific issue? ## Grapefruit juice, also wine with cheese with some medicines. You're right, I suppose I shouldn't worry if a medicine doesn't have a specific warning noted. Thanks for your response!

I wanted to double check prior to taking the medication. My METOPROLOL ER 50 MG tablets also are an oblong tablet, G282 imprint on back, scored on front to break in half. Although the G was hard to read because of the triangular shape of the letter G. I just refilled the same perscription again. The new pills are more like Toprol XL. They are round with the co...

Oval pill, scored in the center, marked 358 on the unscored side. Was allegedly supposed to be a generic for Toprol 200 mg. However pharmacist dispensed twice as many as the perscription stated, with no change in directions. Manufacturer does not show this pill on its info. page. ## I should be taking 50 mg tablets however a refill from Walmart has pills marked 831. I am scared to use them. Can I use them?

I have been taking metoprolol tartrate 50 mg 2x a day for a while now, my doctor just told me to now start taking 2 tablets in the morning and 1 in the evening. I am concerned that 150 mg per day is too much. Can u tell me if this is not a safe dosage or if its ok to take that much? my blood pressure usually runs around 140/85 to 158/92 ## Hello, Rhonda! How are you? I understand your concern, that does seem to be a high amount…but it actually isn't for this medication. Metoprolol can be taken in amounts up to 450mgs a day and it is usually started at the 50mg twice daily dosing, then adjusted until the desired effect is reached, which in your case would be lower blood pressure. Normal levels are considered 120/80 and generally anything over 130/85 requires treatment. The high...

I have been on Metoprolol ER TAB SUC 50 mg (75 mg in morning and 75 mg in evening) for a long time. These were round white pills with"M50" on one side and a score line on the other side. I understand the "ER" stands for Extended Release. When my prescription ran out, I contacted the pharmacy for a refill. Instead of sending me the same medication, they sent me a 3-month supply of Metoprolol TAB TAR 50 mg. These are round pink pills, a little smaller than the white pills. On one side they have a score line with "93" above the score line and "733" below the score line. The other side is plain, with no markings at all. Are these smaller pink TAB TAR pills the same as the ER TAB SUC pills? And are the TAB TAR pills Extended Release? I wanted to stay on the Ex...
