Meth Come Down

I've been on methadone for 15 years for severe pain (after 25 years in recovery, and fighting with v.a. for 3 + years not to take pain meds). The head of the local v.a. treatment program recommended it to me; The only way I would take it was if I was guaranteed for life. A recent v.a. dr. took me from 120 mg to 90, last year (with no notice) then this year to 60, with no notice "again". Now he says the max they can write is equivalent to 100mg morphine. (Anyone know what that is?) Asked last year to try and come off slowly and see how I can tolerate (I was suicidal 15 years ago when I finally went to them.) My husband and I were addicted to opiates for several years. We started on Methadone maintenance about a year ago and it has worked wonderfully. We are now ready to move on with our lives. We knew from the beginning that we were not going to be on Methadone for the rest of our lives. We are ready for traveling, babies, and life without methadone. My husband turned down an awesome job out of state to taper down correctly instead of quitting cold turkey, as the state the job was in had no methadone clinics. We both spoke to our counselors to discuss tapering off methadone. PLEASE, I NEED TO KNOW IF LIQUID METHADONE COMES IN PINK OR IS IT WATERED DOWN because i have always got cherry red and never saw pink methadone until i got to this clinic and i take 150 mil. and with in 15 hours i need another dose. I have started loweing my dose to come off Methadone. I am on 58 mgs I got on Methodone to quit talking pain meds .The clinic I go to did not want me to go down they told me I am supposed to stay on it a least 9 months I told the it's a tool to help me stop taking pills not a life time use .Well they where upset I believe it's because if the money my counselor will not speak to me and has bit talked about takes out .I'm glad I don't live far from the clinic . I'm on 75 mg methadone and I want to stop on my own because it seems my counselor wants me on forever. Can I do it myself being on an anxiety med? ## T Chang, it is very difficult 4 a lot of people 2 taper off of methadone on their own. It should b done slowly and under supervision. I was on (110) of methadone and got down to (24). I was in such bad withdrawals, I thought I was going 2 die. I ended up at my Doctors in tears. I was on 110 then tapered down to 24. At that point, I couldn't take the withdrawals. I ended up going on suboxone. Thank God I felt better. As far as your situation, it takes awhile to stop withdrawing from methadone. It has a half life and lasts longer. U r probably still feeling some withdrawals. Sounds like it 2 me. Have been on methadone for 15yrs down to 40mg a day live in huntsville,AL area can't find a dr mine left I suffer with chronic pain from different health problems would like to come on off of it but very scared I just need to know how to taper on off as easy as possible I also have and rarely ever take opana,klonopin,neurotin will these help? I took Methadone 120 mg 2 years ago. Now I'm down to 28 mg. You have to be strong and willing to come clean. It hurts, but you`ll get used to it. Every week I take at least 2 mg off, sometimes more. When it gets too painful I help myself with, vitamins A, D and C, magnesium, liver vitamins and some Benzodiazepines, but not long, just a week. Then my body gets used to it and I keep taking the dose. When I feel okay again, I take less again, until it is gone. The finish is harder and you need all the help you can get, vitamins, immune system protection, magnesium, lots of fluids and sometimes a salt solution in veins, for the night. I am down to 25 mgs of methadone from 120. If I go down 5 mgs a month, at what point could I convert to something else that would not be as hard to withdraw from and what should it be? I understand subutex is just as difficult to come off of. I've been taking methadone for 10 months now. I'm a 200lb Male. I normally take between 50 - 150 ml per day. But the past 2 months the liquid I get has been putting me to sleep. Like I used to come home from work and relax, eat, watch tv, and chill. Well now I come home, eat, and wind up going to sleep for hours on end. Then I wake up at around 2 am, lay back down, and I fall asleep again till 6 when I get up for work. This is getting old quick. Has anyone else gone through this? By the way I dose at 7 am every day. ## I was just prescribed this med. and am afraid to take it. ## Why are you afraid to take it? It is generic prednisone which is a steroiod. You dont want to take it all the time, but it really works for imflammation in the lungs, in the joints, etc. Side effects include massive hunger, dizziness, thirst, among others. ## Methylprednisolone Info Click Here ## How long is Methylprednisol good on the shelf. I have been clean for 8 years now on Methadone. I have been at my clinic for almost 9 years and have NEVER failed a drug test. I had two weeks take homes and a drug test came back diluted (low creatinine 14). Recently found out I am pregnant and the drug tests started coming back as diluted from the first test they gave me while pregnant. I am not doing anything to try and pass the tests because I am CLEAN. Also just found out my iron is very low (hemoglobin & blood cell count is low). In the end I believe it really just comes down to the discretion of the physician or psychiatrist who prescribes/recommends the clonazepam. From my experience, a psychiatrist can write up a report after an in-person evaluation, to help determine your son's true needs for this medication. I took 165mg of morphine sulfate over a 7 day period and a very small dose of methadone last night. I'm scared they are going to test my hair and UA soon and my levels will be high... So I've been taking methadone for 8 months now. My peak dose was 70mg, but I've been weaning off of it for several weeks with the goal of getting off of it entirely. This past week, I dropped down to 5mg and my body went into full withdrawal. I honestly think that the dose is so low that it's pretty much just waste that my body doesn't absorb. I called my clinic and asked if I could come in and switch to subutex. They told me that even though I'm only on 5mg, they won't take the risk of putting me on it until I've stopped taking it for three days even though I'm only on 5mg. I heard there is a bead method, to come off Cymbalta 60 mg. How? ## any one know bead method coming off Cymbalta 60 mg? ## I think I have actually heard of what you're describing, where you take out a specific number of beads from the capsule and gradually titrate the dosage down over time. Though the concept itself sounds easy and harmless, I don't have any personal experience in doing this and am generally not one to tamper with pills unless instructed by a doctor. So if you have a choice I would probably encourage you to follow a tapering schedule per a doctor's recommendation. He/she might be able to prescribe a lower dose as well to help bridge the gap between lower milligrams.
