I want to know the combined therapeutic advantages of taking gabapentin with methylcobalamin (i.e., synergistic effects and also whether there's any drug to drug interaction between these two substances)? ## Hello, Nagarjuna! How are you? Methylcobalamin is actually not a drug. It is just a form of vitamin B12 often used in these combination medications, because it is believed to support nerve health. However, since it is just a nutritional supplement, there are no synergistic effects and no known interactions. The only actual drug involved here is the Gabapentin, which is an anticonvulsant that's been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes.

Is this medication ever administered in intravenous dosage forms? ## From what I've read, Gabapentin appears to be available in the following dosage forms: a capsule, a tablet, an extended-release (long-acting) tablet, and an oral solution (liquid) to take by mouth. IV methods are usually pertaining to those who recreationally abuse the medication. So I wouldn't necessarily recommend doing anything other than what your doctor or health-care provider suggests, in that regard. The dosing instructions also state that you should swallow the extended-release tablets whole; and not cut, chew, or crush them. I ran out of my tramadol was wondering if could be take the gabapentin in its place with my methacarbam muscle relaxants ? ## Hello, Slo! How are you? Gabapentin is not an actual analgesic, so it won't work like the Tramadol. As classified by the FDA, it's actually an anticonvulsant that can also help with some types of nerve pain and some mood disorders, but it must be taken for 4 to 6 weeks, before it will reach its full level of efficacy in the body and alleviate pain. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. Tramadol, however, is an opioid analgesic that carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. I haven't taken gabapentin, it made me ridiculously tired when I was prescribed it back in December so I stopped it. Recently I tested positive for gabapentin and can't figure out why...i take lexapro, lamictal, imitrex, maxalt, suboxone, melatonin, benadryl as needed, ibuprofen as needed and I've had a sinus infection so I was taking otc cold and sinus medicines, one was a daytime formula, a nighttime and decongestant. ..Please tell me what's causing this ## I am on methadone and tested positive for the gabapentin and I know I did not take it. So I feel that I am almost in the same situation as you. Have you found anything out about your results or why it would happen??

It's hard to swallow liquids as it seems my esophagus is swollen. What could be causing it? Any of my medications? ## Does it just seem like it's swollen, or has it been confirmed by a medical professional? Many medications can cause it, according to FDA reports, but it is hard to say just from this vague post. Have you ever been diagnosed with acid reflux? That is also a possible cause. If it comes down to a medication, I think Methocarbamol would be the primary suspect, since it is a muscle relaxant and muscles help us swallow... however, there is also the possibility of an allergy.

Is there any way to get Gabapentin in less than 100 mg pills? The first phase took 10 days for Gabapentin to equalize in my body. A week afterwards I had 2 days of Hot night sweats but was done with withdrawals after that. (At least until I lower my dose). Please respond so this can stay active and can let you know my method of weaning off safely. ## Hi Grayman, You may have success inquiring about different dosages with a local compounding pharmacy who could formulate something more suitable for your needs... The cream colored capsule with D 03 on it is a 300mg gabapentin. It is mostly used for the treatment of nerve pain as well as a mood stabilizer. I also have found when you are trying to come off of opiates, the gabapentin helps with the withdrawal. It is not a solution, however, taking the gabapentin for a couple days vrs relapsing or getting on suboxone or methadone, is better on your body in the end. Since it is a mood stabilizer as well it helps with sleep, the anxiety, and pains that come with withdrawal. I have used this in my own personal experience and it was a life saver. I believe that if you work the program suboxone can work too, it just is expensive and not everyone has the cash to do it. I don't like to rely on any medicines but I take this over pain pills or barbiturat...
