i have been taking metformin. the label said metformin 500mg HCL. for a better price i had my prescription transferred to another drugstore for i still had several refills left. the label at the new drugstore says metformin 500mg. her. is metformin 500mg hcl the same as metformin 500mg her? ## Yes, it's the same medication, just a different abbreviation that the new pharmacy is using. My metformin is a new pill with mf1 on one side and on the other is a big G. Is this a metformin pill? The drug store is closed so I need to know. I've been diabetic for years but here lately my hormones, hot flashes has been bad , I'm turning 52 now it seem as if I can't get my daily testing especially in the AM under control I'm on 5mg of Glibizide and 500mg 2x a day of metformin. Are you trying to order it online? ## Similar to your other question, once again, I have to advise you that it's best to just ask for the generic. I have noticed the poor fasting test numbers that I am experiencing with the Glibizide 5mg extended release and the metformin 500 extended release. a1c numbers now at 7.5 from 6.4.. Sorry about the confusion, pharmacies should really be a bit more precise, but I'm happy to clear this up for you. :-) The only difference is the manufacturer, the original one was manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals, which is what the wats stands for and the new one is manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals, as designated by the amne. Rather than saying it's a substitute, they should really have just put a notice on it that it is the same medication, but may look different than that which you'd received before.
