I was taking medrol 32 mg 2 times per day for 2 weeks now and reduced to 1 pill per day for the last 2 days. The weakness and high heart beat rate is becoming unbearable and I stopped it today. Is it ok to do so? or I need to reduce more like half pill or so.. I was only taking it for a little sinus infection that was caused by a root filled tooth 2 years ago and the tooth is extracted but the inflammation continued.

I have been told i have a mild irregular heart beat and leakage. I have been give this medicine for the treatment of a bone spur in my neck. I am a little concern about the side affects to the heart. ## Hello, Tracy! How are you? I would suggest checking with your cardiologist, before taking it, to be safe. It doesn't usually cause as many cardiac related side effects as other steroids, but much of it really depends on your overall health, average heart rate and etc. Are you on any other medications?

I was prescribed: medrol dose pak VICODIN 5/500 and Motrin 800 mg tablets recently for a kidney stone by an emergency Dr in SFCA. Fifteen days later I rushed to the same emergency room feeling svere pain in my stomach. Upon arrival my blood pressure checked at 85/62. I was immediately admitted to the IC unit where a stomach specialist and a staff doctor found that I was bleeding internally. Neither of these two doctors could locate the source of the bleeding. Before I was released approx. 32 hours later I reviewed my patient discharge instructions from the first kidney stone visit-to my surprise the instructions clearly state:WARNING: Do not take IBUPROFEN with prenisone since this increases the risk of getting a bleeding ulcer. I asked the staff doctor why the hospital would prescribe ...

I was prescribed Medrol by a pulmonologist today. Instead of a dose pack I was prescribed 20 loose 4 mg tablets. The instructions say to take 4 tablets daily for 5 days. Can this be right?? In the past I've always been prescribed dose packs that decrease the dosage daily? Please advise. ## Hello, Kenzen! How are you? I went to the ER on Christmas due to an unknown allergic reaction to some sort of food I ate. After all was said and done, I was given a prescription for a 4mg Medrol dose pack, one for benadryl and one for zantac (explained to me as a catalyst for the other two medications). The entire time on the medrol, I had EXTREME (6 bottles of water in 2 hours) thirst, woke up several times a night to urinate, elevated bp and heart rate. I was anxious, wired, my chest was tight, my face was burning red, I was sweating significantly more than normal, and my personality was gone. I just took my last two pills of day one of this medrol pack. My doctor prescribed it for the inflammation in my throat. I felt good all day but after taking these last two this evening, I'm feeling some chest tightness. Is this normal? Also, how long for these pills to wear off so I can sleep? ## This is a normal side effect of this medication, according to NIH studies, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, acne, and fluid retention. How severe is the tightness? Such side effects usually linger for a week, or so, after you finish the course of treatment.
