How many 100 mg Gabapentin capsules equal 600 mg capsules of Lyrica? I'm in the process of changing Primary Care Physicians and will not have enough Lyrica to last until my new patient appointment. However I do have a number of Gabapentin capsules left over from when I was using them. So can I substitute my Gabapentin for my Lyrica..... ## 1 more thing...I was taking 2700 mg per day of gabapentin....but when I was prescribe lyrica it was 600 mg a day.... ## I've been taking 600 mg gabapentin 2 tabs 3 xs a day. Now I have 200 mg lyrica because I an out of gabs. I'm wondering if anyone knows the equivalence of each other so I don't over take the lyrica. Any advice??? ## Based on my own investigations these two medications are not created equally and therefore the only reli...

I've been taking 600mg of Lyrica for ten years, I have had no problems with it. It helps with the burning. ## Hi Sue, With all the diverse opinions surrounding the safety of Lyrica, it's great to hear that you're still doing well on it after 10 years. If you don't mind me asking, what exactly are you taking it for that has to do with burning? From what I've read, the maximum "recommended" dose is listed at 100mgs three times daily (or 300mgs). It doesn't say you can't take a higher dose (they just don't recommend it unless your doctor draws that conclusion based on your individual response and how well you tolerate it). Apparently though, 600mgs was studied in clinical trials and had ended up showing no significant benefits from the dosage increas...

I took Lyrica for about 6 weeks & noticed it caused incontinence or urine leakage. I stopped it & the sx subsided. I now restarted it as the pain was unbearable. It works wonders for the pain if you can endure the side effects. I am going to see if I can somehow control the urine leakage if it starts again. ## I am on 300mg of Lyrica, and just today I am having the same problem! Has the problem come back, and if so, have you found any solutions? ## i began lyrica and was able to sleep without nerve tingling waking me every 15 minutes forthe first time in 4 years. the problem is that the first night i also wet my bed and have done so several more times since taking it. when i dont take it the problem stops. any advice would be welcome. ## I took a lyrica last nite at work because...

I used to take high doses of narcotics for severe neuropathy pain. That crap almost killed me and destroyed my life, leaving me destitute and homeless. I had to move in with my sister, and then some friends to stay off the street. I have been taking lyrica for several years and it helped, even while on the narcotics. Since going off the narcotics, I have relied entirely on Lyrica to deal with the pain. My doctor changed my dosage about a month or so ago to 300mg twice a day and soon to 300mg three times a day. The difference has been amazing and the neuropathy pain is almost completely gone while the Lyrica is in effect. I do have some side effects though, like headaches, dizziness, sleepiness but I don't care. Anything is preferable to the pain, except for narcotics. ## Lyrica has ...

Does anyone have experience using Klonopin (clonazepam) to wean off of Lyrica? I know Neurontin (gabapentin) and Lyrica (pregabalin) are used to wean off of benzos. But I'm actually trying to wean off of 150mgs. Lyrica twice a day (300mgs. daily) using clonazepam. If anyone that has found using this method beneficial please let me know. And if anyone has done it successfully as well please share with me their technique. Thanks in advance. ## I'm nearly off of Lyrica now after 5 years of 300mg a day. I had one prescription for 10mg and another for 5mg. I started taking 10mg at bedtime and 5mg when I woke up, then 5mg more if needed before bed. It was living Hell the 1st month, I was sweating profusely. Now I'm down to 5mg in the morning and 5mg at night. Soon I'll just us...

I want to know a little about Lyrica medicine, all about its reaction, how to withdraw, etc ## Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, which is an anticonvulsant that's also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain. It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, weight changes and drowsiness. You can also discover more Lyrica details here. As to withdrawing, it should be done in a slow taper, after you've been on it for awhile, since a sudden withdrawal may cause rebound symptoms, as well as cause the risk of seizures. Are there any other questions? ## I was on 300mg a day for years. With my doctors help he wrote a prescription for 50mg and 25mg tabs. 1st I stepped down to 200mg/day, for a month or so, then I got to 100mg then 50 and now I'm on 25...

I tried gabapentin 300mg. (instead of Lyrica 50mg.) the first time I used it, it made my heart pound so bad I could not use it, could I use a smaller mgs. of gabapentin. I have spinal stenosis, I have diabetes, my legs jumps all over, can't sleep because of it. ## Hello, Betty! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems you experienced. No, they are not the same. Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, it is in the same class of medications, but different. Thus, it may work better for you. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain and dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Your dose isn't high enough for neuropathy. I have taken it for 11yrs and I'm on 800mg 3 times a day. Racing heart ha...

Hi all. I've been taking 300mg of lyrica for 7 mo. which has been a miracle for my spine nerve damage however I have become completely stupid (no memory) and have developed neurovascular eye disease. Anyone else have this? Sorry for the post not being very clear lol as I said I'm brain dead! I almost forgot to mention the rash. I've developed a rash on my right calf only. I've been to a lot of drs an all my blood work has been normal. I KNOW it's the Lyrica. I can't stop though. When I stopped taking it I was literally bedridden. The Lyrica helps so much with the pain that I've decided the side effects are worth it, at least I can function, even if I do go around in circles most of the time. Other drug companies are coming out with similar drugs soon hopefull...

I have a high tolerance to hydrocodone but have a 5mg norco and a 300mg lyrica. If I take them both will I feel the hydrocodone? ## Neither one blocks the other, but you should not take this combination, unless your doctor approves. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Norco as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. It also carries the risk of being habit forming. Have they both been prescribed for you?

I was on a combination of Trileptal and Neurontin for my Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia pain. I was not having any side effects from the Neurontin, but having problems with the Trileptal (blurred vision and unsteady gate). The doctor wanted to decrease the Trileptal, but having done so in the past, she knew I would have increased pain. I was already taking 2700 mg of Neurontrin and I guess that is the max, so she took me off the Neurontin and put me on 150mg of Lyrica a day, then increased to 300mg/day. I am still having alot of pain, but it has only been 5 days and I am rather impatient. Has anyone heard of Lyrica use for Trigeminal Neuralgia pain? Thanks ## I have been on 900mg Neurontin a day, lots of pain. I had balloon compression. Did not help one bit. Dr now upped my neurontin to ...

My Dr diagnosed me with Fibro almost 2 years ago. I took a drug last year playing the insurance game. It was an anti-depressent and I swear to you it made my crazy! I am sensitive to drugs that alter my mind and that was the worst. But the insurance insisted I needed to take it before they would give me a Fibro med. It was so bad I refused to take anything till this year. I live in Western PA and to say our weather is bi-polar, well thats an understatment. So I have been in a rather painful flair for about 4 months now. I decided to start lyica. Here is where it is fun. My Dr knows nothing about the drug. The pharmisist knows nothing about the drug and appearently no one thought that starting me out at 300mg a day was a bad thing. After 2 pills I was a MESS. I couldn't drive because...

Since taking this drug for a week I have a mouth full of many lesions or canker sores can this be connected with this drug. It is quite severe the cancers or ulcers are the size of a Nicole each one and there must be over 10. Extremely sore. Salt water rinse every two hours and medicated numbing liquid like a mouth wash so I can eat once a day. Hello of a diet. Went off the meds for now. My mouth is just too sore ## Hi, Sherril! Sorry about how miserable you are, that's quite awful. From what I can find, it has been reported that Gabapentin can do this, though it is a very rare side effect. Have you consulted your doctor? There are other medications you can try that may not cause this problem, such as Lyrica. Learn more Lyrica details here. Sometimes one medication just doesn't ...

I've been taking Lyrica for nerve pain and also for opiate withdrawal. But I don't like Lyrica so I'm thinking of going back to Gabapentin. I just want to know whether 300mg of Gabapentin could possibly work for me? ## Hello, Amy! How are you? No, Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin. They are both anticonvulsants that have been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders, but they are different substances. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. Only your doctor can decide if it may help you and what the appropriate dosage would be. I am taking 150mg to 300mg of Lyrica daily. The problem here is that I do not have a prescription. I take them from my boyfriends' bottle which he is prescribed. I am on other medication that are prescribed to me such as; Methadone, Prozac, Lorazepam, Seroquel (just to name a few). I started taking Lyrica because I was curious. Now I am addicted to the stuff and I'm too afraid to tell my doctor or my boyfriend. I am more depressed, anxious, think about death all the time and cry constantly. I have difficulties communicating to my therapist because when I open my mouth to speak, I begin crying uncontrollably. I am a mess, and I am afraid that I will eventually exit stage left. ## Hi, Ashley! Sorry about the issues you're having. Lyrica is actually not an opiate pain reliever,...

i try to stop methadone use.i begin lyrica 300mg and slov methadone 5mg for a weak(40mg now).is it right? ## this site is not medical professionals and cannot possibly say what tapering schedule is right for you. Your doctor must decide this based on how long you've been using the Methadone and how high of a dosage you were taking. Methadone is a very potent narcotic and even with tapering, you may still experience some withdrawal effects such as: nausea, dizziness, chills and diarrhea. The best thing I can advise you to do is follow your doctor's advice. Have you tried speaking to them about any concerns you may have?

Can I stop taking epileptin at once. I drink 300mg a day for nerve pain but it is not working that well. I use it now for 3 months but do not have a pain free day as the doctor predict, so I want to stop taking it. I will carry on with the Celebrax. I do not have epilepsy and the epileptim is making me very moody. ## Do not stop abruptly as this could cause unwanted side effects. Ask your doctor to wean u off & put you on something else like Lyrica. Most meds should not be stopped abruptly, and doing so with an anti seizure drug could actually produce a seizure. I'm not familiar with your med but nonetheless, don't stop....wean.
