I had my aortic valve replaced with a mechanical valve in 2014. Post surgery I was put on bisoporal and losartan (25mg). following really bad side effects with the bisoporal my cardiologist told me to stop immediately. He said i was put on these following surgery as this is normal pracrtice for 3 months following surgery. However I forgot to ask about the Losartan and so have continued with this for another year. I have been on losartan 100mg od, lisinopril 20mg od, bystolic 10mg plus triamt/HCTZ tab 37/5/25 od for a few years to bring my blood pressure down which it did to between 130/88-140/90 but now it is back up to 190/90-200/100. I was on Losartan for 5 years and for the last 5 years on Benicar 20 OD. About 10 days back my blood pressure showed increased values of 180/100 and fluctuated between 180/110 to 140/90. I also continued having a dull headache. I have since enhanced the dosage to Benicar 40 OD. Now the blood pressure is keeping itself at values below 110/70. Can I revert back to Benicar 20 after some time?
