I am taking losartan 100 mg tablet every morning before breakfast. I also take Plavix 75 mg and Levothyroxine 100 mcg in a.m. By lunch time I feel very tired and don't have much energy the rest of the day. After dinner I take Narvasc 5 mg, Zetia 10 mg, aspirin 325 mg, and cephalexine 250 mg. My doctor doesn't seem to be very concerned about the fatigue but I feel it is interfering with my life. Such as gardening, exercising, shopping, etc. Any suggestions? ## How long have you been taking these medications? Fatigue, drowsiness, headache, increased urination, and joint pain can be side effects of these medications. How long will you be taking the antibiotic? Has there been any change?

Losartan LU/P23 white same as E/47 green ? ## Hello, Marc! How are you? Yes, the one with the LU P23 marking is manufactured by Lupin Pharmaceuticals and the one with the E 47 marking is manufactured by Aurobindo Pharmaceuticals, both list them as containing 100mgs of Losartan, so they've just been manufactured by different companies. The FDA classifies this medication as being an ARB, which is used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions, that may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was taking Benicar tab 40mg my pharmacist sent me Losartan tab 100mg. Is that the equivalent or could this be a mistake? ## No, it is not the same medication. Benicar contains Olmesartan, so the Losartan is in the same class, but it is a different drug. Have you contacted them about it? Since they are in the same class, they work the same way, but such a switch shouldn't be made, without your doctors approval.

Please help identify this pill. It is solid white oval/elliptical no scoring or inscription other than 13 on one side only. It is supposed to be losartan 100mg. However I can find no verification that this is so. Thanks G ## Hello, Gee Gee! How are you? Where did you get it? I can't find a listing in the prescription drug databases for any tablet with just a 13 on it. Losartan is an ARB that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Typical side effects are listed by the FDA as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, hypotension and stomach pain. I'll keep looking and post back, when I have information for you. Does anyone else recognize this tablet? ## I got it from my pharmacy and was affraid a mistake had b...

My grandmother'so Dr. told her to double up on her blood pressure medication. She is already taking Losartan 100mg...this would mean that she would take 200mg at one time. Is that safe? ## Hi Jess19, My opinion is that if her doctor instructed her to do so then odds are it probably is safe, since he/she has likely made this decision based off your grandma's medical records and an in-person evaluation of the condition (I would hope). Furthermore, 200mgs a day is reportedly the maximum recommended dose of Losartan Potassium - So your grandma's dosage still falls within FDA guidelines. As to how she might respond or react to such a dosage, only time will tell, as everyone is affected differently by these medications. However, it may be a good idea to closely monitor her blood p...

My grandma is taking losartan 100mg OD. She accidentally took the medication twice a day. Which stressed us. What is the effect of this medication to my grandma's hypertension/condition? She doesn't feel anything unusual though. ## Hello, Val! How are you and how is your grandmother doing? Have you checked her blood pressure? It could cause it to drop too low and to develop a low heart rate, though if she's not feeling sick or dizzy, then she's likely fine. However, you should check with her doctor to be safe. ## Am taking Losarton 100 mg twice a day as per my Neph doctor. But my primary doctor wants me to only take one 100 mg per day. Won't changing the dose also affect my blood pressure? ## I am 42 and my doctor switched me from norvasc 5mg to cozarr 100mg due to l...

My blood pressure is up to 135/102 this evening. Can I take another losartan? ## No, Losartan is not a medication that will work to rapidly lower your blood pressure in such situations. It is a drug that must be taken regularly for several weeks, in order for it to reach its effectiveness level in your body. Learn more Losartan details here. Have you been exercising or doing a lot of activity just before taking your blood pressure reading? Had you been drinking anything with caffeine in it? How much sodium was in your meals for the day and the past few days? All of these things I asked about could possibly cause the type of elevation your seeing. Can i use the losartan potassium instead of avalide 300/12.5? ## Hello, Emily! How are you? Hi I’ve been taking 50mg losartan for almost a year and BP was avg 128/89 then it went up to 140/100. My Dr upped it to 100mg and after a week it went up a little more. How long does it take for the medicine to start working and should it start working sooner since I’ve been taking losartan previously? ## @SW, You mentioned that you've been taking 50mg losartan for almost a year before it stopped working as effectively... I'm just under the unique impression that perhaps your body built a tolerance to it over time and that's why your blood pressure was gradually going back up? I've never heard of any medication taking a year to start working, so this is the only plausible explanation I can think of. Have you already discussed this with your prescribing doctor...

What if my daughter 23 yrs old took 2 -100 MG Losartan tablets thinking it was Tylenol? ## Hello, Donna! How is she doing? Did she suffer any adverse effects? It may cause some nausea, dizziness, headaches, and drowsiness, according to the FDA, but generally, in a healthy person, they don't cause severe issues... however, only a doctor can say for sure. How did this mix-up occur?

Doctor prescribed this pill for high blood pressure 100mg. On the back of the pill is a #13 and the pill is round medium sized. Anyway I ran out of medicine and I went to the pharmacy but the pill is now oval 100mg #13 and now is twice as big as the round pill that I was taking before. I am so scared that they made a mistake on the medicine. It looks bigger than the one that I was taking. I went to the drug store and the lady that works there told me that is the same thing. It's just that they change manufac. (please help) I did not start that second oval pill yet. ## Hello, Maria! How are you? It's the first time I've done this. The doctor's office said to just watch for side effects. Should I be concerned? ## Generally, taking a double dose just once isn't considered harmful, but you may experience more side effects than usual, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, and shallow breathing. If any of them become severe, you should seek emergency medical attention. How are you feeling? Did you experience any problems?

Losartan 100 mg / 574 imprint / white / oval ## I am taking white oblong pill wiith p23 on one side and LU on the other what is it and who makes it? ## If the tablet with the 574 on it also has a logo, then it does contain 100mgs of Losartan, an ARB, that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and headache. Read more: The pill marked LU P23 contains the same medication, in the same dosage. I have been taking 20 mg lisinopril with the diuretic and my blood pressure has been anywhere from 140?/90? To 150?/98 or so. Today my doctor switched me to losartan hctz100-25 mg. I'm worried the mg in losartan is so much higher than the lisinopril. Is this safe? Will this make my blood pressure drop to an unsafe level? I took the lisinopril this morning and he told me to start the losartan tomorrow morning. Is this okay? ## Hello, Melissa! How are you? That is a normal starting dose for Losartan, it may seem a lot higher than the dosage you were taking of Lisinopril, however, since it is in a different class of medications, it is actually only a little higher, which I'm guessing is due to the fact that your blood pressure readings were still high and need further lowering. I took 100mg Losartan Potassium at 3pm but I think I may have taken one at 3 am also. I work shift work and I don't remember taking the 3 am dose. Will I have a problem taking a dose 12 hours apart? ## Hi Craig, From what I've researched, standard adult dosing for Losartan is considered to be anywhere from 25mg-100mg taken daily in one or two divided doses. However, the prescribing packet doesn't go on to mention any specific time intervals. Having said that, it seems to me like you're supposed to wait a full 24 hours after your last 100mg dose before taking anymore... So if you aren't sure about the time frame in which you took your last dose then I can't say there's a right or wrong answer... You may just have to be your own best judge through self monitori...
