Hello, a few days ago I went to the ER because my BP was extremely high, 208/110. I believe this because I have gained about 30 lbs and have not been eating very healthy lately. I am 39 years old and I was not currently on any blood pressure medication but I have been in the past. I was off about a year. The ER was able to get my BP down and the Dr. gave me a prescription for Lisinopril HCTz 20/12.5 I have been on this in the past but a lower dosage. I have only been on this meds for 2 days and it does lower my BP but it is too low. This morning it was 108/77. I feel very weak with no energy, sleepy, and somewhat depressed. I am worried it is lowering my blood pressure too much and I'm scared I will have hypotension. Can I stop taking this med since it's only been a couple of da...

I enjoy a drink nightly. Will this prevent the pill from doing its job with my blood pressure? (mixed drinks or amaretto). ## Generally, you are warned not to take most medications with alcohol due to the possibility of it aggravating the side effects, such as the nausea and dizziness, because that can result in one drink actually affecting you like you had 2 and so on. Learn more Prinzide details here. With this combination, however, there are some additional concerns, if you are limiting yourself to just one or two drinks, it can actually cause some lowering of your blood pressure, as well, so you have to be careful to watch for signs of that, such as feeling severely dizzy, especially when moving or standing up. The Hydrochlorothiazide is also a diuretic that removes excess fluid fro...

Hope this helps! ## I have been taking 20 mg lisinopril, 1 daily for several years. Recently (one month) Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg has been added 1 daily. For unknown reason my Dr. has combined both medicines into one pill a day however when I picked up the Rx at the pharmacy the lisinopril has been reduced to 10mg plus Hctz 12.5 Hydrochlorothiazide. Is lisinopril 20-12.5 much different than the 20 mg? If not, I can get the 20 mg for free at the drug store, but I have to pay for the 20-12.5. ## Yes, the active ingredients are different. One contains Lisinopril with Hydrochlorothiazide, while the other just contains Lisinopril and you should take the one your doctor feels is best for you. The FDA lists the typical side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, dehydration, and hypotension. Which one has been prescribed for you?

I had been taking 2 tablets of Lisinopril 20 + 12.5 mg HCTZ for almost 20 years. I'm now 60 years old and since my BP is under control, I asked my doctor to take me off the HCTZ. It's been only a week now and I have noticed swelling in my feet and ankles along with a reddish rash. I previously had no side effects from the HCTZ other than dry mouth and skin and frequent urination. Does anyone know if gradually decreasing the amount of HCTZ rather than just stopping abruptly would be a better alternative or if I'm just destined to take HCTZ for the rest of my life? ## Your doctor just had you stop this medication abruptly? If so, then yes, that's likely what's causing the problem, because it has been known to cause rebound effects, especially if you were taking it for ...

Can some one tell me what to expect when weaning off of 20 mg Lisinopril...am down to 15 mg now no effects but now trying to go to 12.5 and today is first day and seem to be having some effects of being hot and feeling like i want to panic. I have been on it for 14 months for blood pressure . can any one advise how to wean off I just plan on 2.5 mg cuts every 10 days or so unless I get better advice ? ## Why are you stopping it? Has your doctor approved your doing so? If you were taking it for high blood pressure, you shouldn't stop without a physician's approval, because if it's the only thing controlling your blood pressure, it will become elevated, again, even if you taper off of it slowly. Are you monitoring your blood pressure and heart rate?

Question? My doctor prescribed Bisopr/hctz tab 10/6.25 and Lisinopril 20 mg. The directions are to take 1 tablet twice a day. Does this mean take one pill in the a.m. and one in p.m? ## it generally mean that yes. usually 12 hours apart or around a bout. ## Basically, if the prescription does not specifically say to take it every 12 hours, then you should take it when you wake up, or with breakfast and then take the next dose at dinner time.

Yes i noticed the same thing my 20mg pills were half the size I used to take. My BP spikes to 180 over 120 when normaly it was 125 over 75. I think they changed the pill, my Dr switched me to another BP med & everything is back 2 normal. Everybody taking Lisinopril should monitor there BP, dont trust it anymore. ## my BP has been running higher since the size of pill changed. I was before in the normal range and now it is reading much higher. Why is that. ## Pharmacist said no worries - same drug, but I don't believe it. Signs of ED which I never had before. I've been taking 20 mg lisinopril a day at 12 noon. I took it today at 12 noon, then my dr. changed it to 50 mg Metoprolol when I saw him this afternoon. Question is, can I start the 50 mg Metoprolol at 12 tonight when I go to bed, even tho I took my last Lisinopril a 12 today? I get bad increase heart beat/pulse at night. He thinks the change in Rx might help. ## Hello, Cheryl! How are you? Did your doctor specify? Are you supposed to take the Metoprolol twice a day? If so, then most likely yes, they meant for you to start at bedtime, but if you're unsure, please call their office to check. Metoprolol is classified by the FDA as a beta blocker that is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Typical side effects are listed as possibly incl...

I took 20 mg Lisinopril a second time instead of 50 mg Atenolol. Supposed to take the Lisinopril once daily and the Atenolol twice. Am I okay? ## If you are concerned then you should call poison control at (800) 222-1222. From what I was reading, the biggest risk would be your blood pressure dropping too low (hypotension). However, taking only one additional dose may not cause that for you. Here is a pdf with more information: ACE Inhibitor Overdoses I hope this helps and please report back with your outcome.

I have been on Lesinopril 20mg for a little over a year now. I just stopped taking it 4 days ago, trying to go natural on keeping my BP down. the first day I just did yoga each day, ate low calorie food as roasted veggies, and drank smoothies. My daily drinks consisted of Pomegranate juice and a spoon apple cider vinegar diluted with a cup of water. My average BP for the last 3 days was 121/78. Today I started having a severe headache, blurry vision and body ache in general. Is this common when you stop Lisinopril? While I do believe that I can keep my BP down naturally I am suspicious of the side effect of getting rid of this pill.. ## Hello, Rich! How are you? Yes, that can happen, if you suddenly stop such a medication, rather than tapering off of it, as reported by the FDA. You may ...

I'm calling the FDA on Lupin Pharmaceuticals. I have been on lisinopril for many years. Once I started with the newer version that they put out in May, I have had awful symptoms of my blood pressure being out of control. I just started on their newer version a week or so ago. On Saturday, September 23, 2017, I was rushed to the ER with blood pressure 201/103. Since this incident, I have been monitoring my pressure more and it's been jumping around from 123/88 to 179/90 at random times. I am exercising-elliptical 30 minutes per day, drinking water and without abnormal stress. My blood pressure has been undependable since this company changed their pills. I therefore pray that these new pills do not cause harm to anyone. After reading on here that other people were having similar ...

Can I take Rumoquin-N.F. & Lisinop/HCTZ Tab 20-12.5 together at the same time? ## My findings state that there are potentially unsafe interactions that apply to Rumoquin N.F. (dexamethasone + methocarbamol + phenylbutazone) & Lisinopril. Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of: "Dexamethasone may reduce the effects of lisinopril in lowering blood pressure. The interaction is most likely to occur when dexamethasone is used for more than a week, since prolonged use can cause sodium and water retention. Let your doctor know if you experience sudden, unexplained weight gain or swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications." "Lisinopril and methocarbamol may ...
