For what purpose is this medicine taken? Is it safe to take or is it harmful? ## What is the primary use of Lanol ER? I'm currently taking Lanol ER along with Evion 400 every morning for my knee pain. ## As far as I know, Lanol is basically Paracetamol and is given for bringing down fever and mild pain. ## Lanol contains the active ingredient Paracetamol, it is available over the counter in most countries and is a mild pain reliever that can also treat a fever. Side effects may include nausea, headache, dizziness and stomach irritation. Single doses should not exceed 1,000mgs and no more than 4,000mgs in a day.

I am taking LANOL ER and GATILOX 400 daily as i ahve sinus and having throat infecftion.Is this the correct medicine ## Lanol Er contains a time released formulation of Paracetamol/Acetaminophen, this is to help with aches and fever. Side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and stomach irritation. Gatilox contains the active ingredient Gatifloxacin, it is an antibiotic used to treat infections. Side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, skin rash and diarrhea. It is commonly used to treat such illnesses, but only you and your doctor can decide if it is the right medication for you to use, since your medical history must be taken under consideration for any treatment. Where can I buy it ## Hi Michelle, The original Borofax ointment (boric acid 5% + lanolin) was actually discontinued in 1993 due to some toxic effects attributed to boric acid. Apparently though, the manufacturer of Borofax reformulated the product and began selling it again. The active ingredients in the new formulation are Zinc Oxide 15% and white petrolatum 68.6%. The newer product does not contain boric acid. The new formulation of Borofax (with Zinc oxide) is available, but may not be routinely stocked by pharmacies on shelves. So a pharmacist may have to special order it for you. Most popular diaper rash products available today contain the similar ingredients. I know that the Betadine ointment is available with Moisturizer OR with a pain reliever and these 2 products contain Aquaphor which contains Lanolin Alcohol and I'm highly allergic to Lanolin in any form. BUT does the maximum strength ointment also contain Aquaphor? If it does, I wouldn't be able to use it. Betadine ointment was taken off the market several years ago and now it's back - but the formula has been changed. This product is used for cows but in Mexico humans use it for anything. Cada 100 g. contents: Aceite de eucalipto 2.2 g. Esencia de trementina 6.0 g. Fenol 3.5 g. Lanolina anhidra 10.0 g. topical ointment ## I don't know if there is anything specific you would like to know regarding Vitamin A & D topical ointment? Below is some basic info about it for those seeking a brief overview. Vitamin A & D is a petroleum and lanolin-based ointment that has vitamin A and vitamin D in it. The ointment protects the skin and the vitamins promote healing in minor burns. I personally used it a number of times to help heal a couple tattoos and it worked great! I'm sure it has a few other uses as well, but certainly wound care is a top priority for this ointment. I have a tube of Borofax Skin Protection from the makers or neosporin. It prevents and treats diaper rash. Do you know where I can buy a new tube of this? ## The tube says active ingredients are zinc oxide 15% and white petrolatum 68%. Also contains: lanolin, mineral oil and fragrance. Dist: Warner Wellcome Consumer Health Products, Morris Plains, NJ 07950 USA. ## From what I can find, it is no longer manufactured. These are common ingredients for this type of product, though, so you should be able to find them in other over the counter items. Have you tried asking a pharmacist what product is comparable? I am extremely allergic to any sulfate product. I have some Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream USP, 0.025%. I am not seeing anything saying that it has any. I am looking for the ingredients of BGO made by Calotabs Co of Greenville, SC years ago. My jar has long been worn smooth and can't read it. ## This product is no longer available, but from another user on our site that was asking about it, the ingredients listed on the packaging were as follows: Salicylic Acid, Sulphur, Zinc Oxid, Phenol Calamine, Menthol, Petrolatum, Lanolin and mineral oil. BGO ointment last distributed by Calotabs Co. in Greenville, SC. Company has apparently closed...not further info. Ointment is an antiseptic, antifungal cream for relief of th athlete's foot, ringworm, hemorrhoids, externally caused blemishes, cracked lips, minor cuts, burn and bruises, corns, itching from burning skin due to sunburn and non venomous insect bites. I use to buy Borofax as a diaper rash cream and I can no longer find it. I am 60 yrs old & used BGO since I was a child. I too, cannot find this miracle drug. If this is no longer made, I would like to know if anyone knows of something in stores that works as well.
