Kepra

I have been taking Keppra (3000MG per day) for over 20 years and am beginning to think some of my mental problems may be associated with the drug. I experience depression and a dryness of my mouth very often. Plus I am often confused (trouble focusing) and tired and cannot sleep. ## Hello, Noemi! How are you? What are the side effects of a combination of all three medicines for a seizure disorder? Have been on the Depakote and Topamax for years with the Kepra only recently added for partial seizures. I noticed that my hair is now thinning dramatically and I'm now suffering from insomnia! I'm thinking it may have something to do with the addition of the Kepra. Am I correct? Is there a solution for this problem? Has anyone else ever come across this problem or complaint? I will, of course, consult my neurologist before doing anything. was diagnosed with epilespy in my 60th year (2007) precribed Kepra which has been gradually increased but I continue to have attacks.What has caused epilepsy at my age? I'd be eternally grateful for advise on how I might get relief from the attacks which is making life more than miserable for me.Brian ## Sorry, this site does not have any medical professionals here and without knowing your complete medical history, no one can hazard a guess. my son just switched from levetraceta/Kepra to Vimpat. he uses 7.5 ml 2x daily once in the morning and one dose early evening . he has completed one week of this full dosage and i fill like it is causing more frequent little seizures . so i cut back his dose to one dose of 7.5 1st day his 2nd day to 5ml . he seems to be doing ok . he is 11yrs old. its the weekend so i cant get info from the doctor . has anyone out there gone through this ???? ## It would be best not to change his dosage, without his doctor's approval. If he stopped the Keppra abruptly to switch, that could cause some withdrawal effects, which may include seizures.
