I have been taking Inderal LA 80 for about 25 years and it has really controlled my tachycardia and palpitations. But insurance is getting less and less on coverage and I am thinking of switching to the generic Propranolol ER 80. I just don't want to take the chance that it will not to the exact same as the Inderal. Has anyone switched and seen a difference? Is this extened released like inderal LA? My Dr switched me to this. I have had great results with controlling migranes with inderal,can I expect same result with propranolol ER? ## Yes, the ER stands for extended release and Propranolol is just the generic for Inderal, or what would be its active ingredient. As to whether or not you will get the same results, there is really no way to say with any certainty. Theoretically, you should, but there can be some minor differences in generic medications, from the name brands and some people are very sensitive to those differences and find that some of the generics don't work as well.
