What do the contents of focalin xr look like inside the capsule? I'm asking because I feel my son's medication was tampered with. I think that someone emptied the contents of the capsules because for a couple of weekends that I got my son they were empty and then I mentioned it to his father that they were empty. I picked up a prescription for 5 mg Focalin and the capsules were almost empty they were not even a quarter of the way filled (you could almost count how many little beads were in there and every single one was like that I know that only the bottom half of the capsules are full when you open them usually I'm not talking about both sides being only reason that I open them is because I take them with apple sauce) ) I brought them back to the pharmacist and he wouldn't open one because he said it would be tampering with the medicine all he did is Shake the 1 capsule?? but I said why wouldn't they just use a smaller capsule? My son recently started taking Focalin. He is 7 and is having a hard time swallowing the pill (not capsule). Is it still effective when crushed and put in applesause? ## Yes. It works crushed and mixed in pudding, too! ## Does 'Foculin' come in a long-acting form? Like Concerta ## Focalin XR works well for my son, and lasts about 9 hours. If he needs to do homework or do serious sports in the evening or has a playdate in the evening, I use focalin in the mid to late afternoon. ## You can also try Focalin in Oatmel or grits..... Is there a liquid form of Focalin, or can the tablet be compounded into a liquid? My son has autism and we cannot get him to take the pills or capsules. He his very orally sensitive and will not eat pudding, applesauce, etc. ## If your doctor orders it for you, a compounding pharmacy should be able to put the active ingredient into a liquid for you, you just need to ask his doctor to order it this way, then take it to your nearest compounding pharmacy. My son's focalin xr prescription was just increased from 5mg to 10. Could I give him two 5mg capsules safely, or should I just get rid of the remaining 5mg capsules? ## Hello, Angelle! I opened and crunched 24 focal xr 15mg capsules in about 14-16 hrs. I have a very high tolerance to any drug, and I'm a small female. I feel shaky but ok. Is that too much? Just a waste probably- the buzz didn't get better.... ## From what I could gather, Doses above 30 mg/day in pediatrics and 40 mg/day in adults have not been studied and are not recommended. There is also no body of evidence available from controlled trials to indicate how long the patient with ADHD should be treated with Focalin XR. So if you're using Focalin XR (Dexmethylphenidate Hydrochloride) in a recreational manner, I would still play it safe and definitely steer clear from taking so many capsules. Ive been on Vyvanse for almost 2 years w/no success, I was on Adderall XR & imm. Release before. It worked better, do I need to wean off the Vyvanse? All I have is 70 mg Vyvsnse capsules?
