Hi, i have a bottle of apo pen vk 300mg and the date that they have to be thrown away is 2015/11/06. My question is are they still safe to take and are they still effective? Thank you. ## Hello, Sue! How are you? This medication does not become dangerous, once expired, but it can lose effectiveness and may not work as well as when it was new, which creates the risk of someone developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Thus, it would be best to dispose of it and see your physician for a new supply, if you think you have an infection. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

The infection is very painfull ## clairebell yes if the amoxicillin wasn't effective and you were written for the penicillin go ahead and stop the amoxicillin and start the pen. do plenty of warm salt water rinses/gargles this will help dry up the infection and make it feel better. also a cool compress to your face helps. hope this helps ## Thank you. I have a past history of syphilis (20 years ago) and was treated. My diagnosis had shown negative up until this year - rpr 1:1 as of 6/30/2017 and Ftb/Abs positive as of 2 weeks ago. As of 8/12/2017 I took doxycycline 100mg twice a day for 14 days. Ftb/abs positive after treatment & contagious. ## It could be that you were given the wrong antibiotic, it is usually recommended that it be treated with Penicillin, unless the person is allergic to it. Generally, it only requires one large dose, according to NIH reports. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Have you spoken to your doctor about it? Are you on any other medications?

I have the following antibiotics that I can take to help me until I can get to my dental appointment, but my dental appointment isn't until February 10th. I always keep my appointments because it's hard to get in with them, they stay booked for the time frame I can get there. I have an infection in the front of my gum area, front tooth stays sore a lot. It comes and goes all the time. I can taste it too. Which one would help me best until my appointment? Macrobid, Levofloxacin, or Bactrim? ## Hi Kym, I see you posted this on January 30th...and it's now March 2nd (after your appointment date). Were you ever able to determine which antibiotic to take for the tooth infection? I've been prescribed Penicillin/Amoxicillin for this in the recent past and that seemed to keep me ...

I just got switched from penicillin to clindamycin 300 mg 3 times a day. My face wasn't puffy and huge like it is now at first. I have started taking it on the 14th. Is this normal for the face to swell up like this and my gums before it kicks in & flu like chills and 100 degree fever? I called the ambulance twice and they said I should call my dentist as soon as possible and I am. I kinda want to wait and see if the antibiotics will kick in or just go back to the ER? HELP ME PLEASE. ## Hello, Rae! How are you doing? Has there been any change? How long have you been taking the Clindamycin? The general rule with antibiotics is that if they are working, you shouldn't see any worsening after taking it for a full 24 hours, and you should start to see improvement, after taking it...
