Do Have To Take All 5 Days Of Prednisone As Prescribed

Hi i today is my girdt day i habe ro take this medication , i have to take 1tab oral, two times a day . Yesturday i was given a steroid shot however today when i woke up my upper stomach hurts i feel very uncomtable it still hurts !!! Is this normal?, and am i going to keep having stomach pain when i take the medication ! Can i take tumms to take pain away , Also will i gain weight?? Please write back i need to know !

I accidentally took 4 prednisone 5mg each. I'm on dialysis and have high blood pressure. I took th a couple days ago. Feeling light headed. My Dr. prescribed 4 tablets of 10 mg for 5 days and then 1 tablet for 30 days. I do have premature heart beat and after my first dosage (yesterday at noon) my heart feels fluttery. I started predizone 20 mg yesterday. Took 3 tabs in the early a m . Directions say 3 tabs for 3 days, then 2 tabs for 4 days ,then 1 tab for 4 days. I have been prescribed to take 20 mg prednisone a day but haven't started taking it yet because of the scary side effects. The doctor prescribed methis medicine because of the lumps that has been on my leg. The prescription says to take 7 days 20mg , 7 days 10 mg and 3 days 5mg. I was put on prednisone to try and raise platlets for an epidural Started - 15 October to 23 October - 9 days 30mg Then went into labour had 2 days without taking any (bit preoccupied) and had an emergency cesarean which resulted in a major hemorrhage on the 25th October In hospital they gave me - 26 October to 29 October - 4 days 90mg Then when allowed home they knocked it down to 60mg - 30 October to 1 November - 3 days 60mg They want me to taper off but my blood doc was unavailable (am in Spain and things aren't always as efficient here) Plus they didn't work anyhow! I was in ER this morning and was diagnosed with acute bronchitis...I was prescribed 20mg of prednisone 1x daily...my question is, the ER doc said if I started them tomorrow (Weds) that I would be in great shape by Sunday....as I'm leaving for vacation....He said 5 days, and I'll be good....he prescribed me 15 pills, which makes me think he meant 3x daily for 5 days???....however, bottle says 1x daily???....do you think this could be a mistake? ...thank you in advance! ## You should take it as directed by the doctor. Hey, I just wanted to know what might happen if I stopped taking prednisone for few days and then continue taking it like I am suppose to. The thing is I found out that I have Sarcoidosis so I have to take Prednisone for 3 months and I started out with one and a half(25mg) tablets for a month and then to one tablet for the second month and half for the third month and then stop. Well i've been on it for a month and I just reduced it to one tablet but I stopped taking it for few days cause I wanted to drink. So I drank about two days and about 30 beers and started to take one tablet a day like nothing happened. What is the best time to take my 6 pills, i know i have to take it with food but should i take it first thing in the morning or wait till supper time. I see one side affect is trouble sleeping, so wondering if that can be avoided by when i take it. Also he has me taking it for 14 days at the same dose. I read you need to slowly go off this drug. I have been on/off Prednisone since 2003. Always been a taper of not more than 10 days. Usually starting with 60 mg. I'm careful to avoid caffeine and watch my sodium intake to avoid rapid heart beating and water retention. What bothers me is I seem to need it every two months like clock work, however usually clear during summer months Could my body be craving it so I always have to come back to it. I have taken the 48 pac of prednisone before and it was a graduated dosage by the cards they were on - the prescription I received today was in a bottle and did not have any instructions on how to take them like the ones in the pac. I took double dose of prednisone 60mg in one day 9 hours apart for sinus infection. Should I be worried? ## I was given a 24 hr prednisone shot yesterday to help with my tight chest and coughing. They prescribed 60 mg for 3 days as I had been taking 40mg 2 days prior. I would like to split the dosage so I don't cough at night. I have hives from taking prednisone. My mouth also feels torn up, and some minor throat irritation. I was on the meds for 6 days. When will the hives dissapear, and other symptoms? Anyone have this experience? ## If you developed hives from taking it, there is a good chance that you had an allergic reaction to this medication, as reported by the FDA, and if that is the case, you will have to avoid taking it in the future, because such allergic reactions tend to get worse, with repeated exposure. A couple years ago, I discovered the hard way that I was allergic to the antibiotic Bactrim and it took several weeks for all of the symptoms to finally clear up.
