I was recently diagnosed with Adult ADD and have been prescribed Amphetamine Salts (Generic for Adderall) for a few months now. The initial dosage was one 10mg tablet/ three times a day and recently my Doctor upped the dosage to one 30mg tablet/ twice a day. I know that overall this has been very beneficial for me but I cant help but wonder if the generic brand (IR Amphetamine Salts) has less of the active ingredient, and more unnecessary side effects(irritability, fatigue). I know that while the active ingredients are likely to be the same, the "fillers" usually are not and even the active ingredients can vary up to 10%. I also know that everybody reacts differently depending on their bodies' make-up as well as the drugs and I have always reacted sensitively to any kind of ...

Hi, Can someone please educate me on the differences between Adderall ER as opposed to Adderall XR? I had no idea there was an ER as well as an XR until yesterday. ## There is no difference. XR stands for extended release, and so does ER. The terms are used interchangeably. ## Ok, but they are in fact two separate medications. Please let me know my understanding is Dextroamphet is generic for Adderall and Dextroamphetmine is generic for Dexedrine what is it really ## Hi yappie, Based on my research, Dextroamphet is simply an abbreviation for Dextroamphetamine; so they are considered to be the same exact medication in that regard. To help clear up any additional confusion, Adderall is a brand name for the following active ingredients: Amphetamine + Dextroamphetamine. Dexedrine on the other hand, is a brand name for Dextroamphetamine only. Adderall just happens to contain the two different mixed salts for increased efficacy. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Adderall Details I hope this helps!

I've been taking 5mg twice a day for 3 days now, not really noticing much ## I know that Adderall contains the salt combo (Amphetamine + Dextroamphetamine), but I too, wasn't aware of the differences between the two. I have been taking adderall for about 3 years and now the drugest gives me thisso what is this pill and it gives me bad side effects ## This tablet is a generic for Adderall that contains 30mgs of mixed Amphetamine salts, however, since there can be differences between name brands and generics, that may explain why you are getting bad side effects from it. (NDC 0555-0974) Inactive Ingredients: - Silicon Dioxide - Starch, Corn - Magnesium Stearate - Cellulose, Microcrystalline - Saccharin Sodium - Fd&c Yellow No. 6 - Aluminum Oxide The FDA does allow generics to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% in the active ingredient, so that gives 2 possibilities to explain your problem and since you didn't describe what you are experiencing, I cannot guess which one...
