I am talking on behalf of my wife.Her Doctor put her on this drug.She was on it for two or three days.She has been nothing but sick. I've been on Cymbalta for 5 years now. I went from 30mg to 90 mg. Back down to 60mg. The reason is I felt it no longer helped & the side effects out weighed the good, but then again its been awhile. Cymbalta is the only medication that has totally worked for my panic attacks & social phobias. But for about the last 2-3 years now I've gained at least 30lbs, my ears ring so loud, pain in my joints & insomnia. Oh and yes my scalp itches like crazy & horrible dreams. I started at 30 mg and it helped my fibromyalgia pain but wore off by evening so I tried upping to 60mg & I couldn't keep my eyes open was so sleepy so went back to 30. My doc said side effects will go away in time. Am wonder how long before the sleepiness will go away ## Hello, Crista! How are you? At the time, if they aren't improving, you should speak to your doctor. Just prescribed Cymbalta again. Mine just expired 02-2016. Is it still safe for me to take it? It's not opened and it was stored in a dark dry cupboard. ## Hello, Janet! How are you? I am currently taking 600mg Lyrica and 60 mg Cymbalta. 10 mg Tramadol as needed. How long does someone have to stay on Lyrica for FM, DDD, Stenosis, Pain Management (from MVA 30 year old Cervical & Back Injuries). ## There is really no set time that anyone has to stay on it, per se, it's really dependent on how well it works for you and what you and your doctor decide is right and safest for you. Has it been helping your pain? Are you experiencing any problematic side effects? ## Its seems to be working. They got me up to 600mg per day. Weight gain is scaring me as I have always been thin. I do get the electric buzz'es up my neck if you know what I mean. (Like Gabapentin). Will I have to take this for life?

I began taking cymbalta because the co pay for my Lyrica with my new insurance was too expensive. I began taking 30 mg once a day. After about 3days my husband and friends starting noticing a change in me. I was tired all the time and acting distant. By about the 9th day the real problems began. It started when I didn't remember how to use my cell phone. When I tried to ask my son for help I wasn't able to make any sense. My husband took me to the ER where the doctors thought that I had a stroke. I couldn't even remember who the president was, the year it was or the year that I was born. Side effects will go away after a week or so. I take this medication for joint pain and it made me sick in the begining. I started out with 30mg then went to 60mg and now have no side effects at all. ## I was given a RX for 60 mg of cymbalta, but I'm not depressed/ect. I have lupus. Does this seem right? ## Yes, Cymbalta has been shown to be effective in alleviating certain types of nerve pain as well as being an antidepressant. It does not work for everyone though, but you should try it for about 2 weeks or so, then you will see if it helps you at all.

First day I took 30 mg and I had a headache, disorientation, very high pulse rate felt like my heart would beat out of my chest. ## Did you mean you are taking it and you are also diabetic? Can you please post back and clarify? Cymbalta is an antidepressant that is also used to treat anxiety, and nervous disorders. I have chronic lower back pain from two surgeries and also arthritis. Over a year ago I was taking opiates and had epidural injections. The doctor suggested Cymbalta. After two weeks at 60 mg my pain was nearly gone and I haven't had any opiates since. I also feel the Cymbalta help my mood because I may have been depressed living with pain day in and out. Here's the dilemma. I've read so many horror stories about Cymbalta withdrawal it scares me and I'm thinking maybe I should get off of it now. I did have a few side effects (dry mouth, sweating) but these have long gone. I've been taking Cymbalta for 9 months. I'm experienciencing muscle pain in my arms a lot of sweating. Is this normal? Please advise. Thank You. ## Sweating can be a side effect of .Cymbalta. Try going down from 60 mg to 30 . Then, after about a month, if the sweating is worse than the benefits, taper off cymbalta, and try something else. ## I have had the sweating problem, but it's been when I missed or took it late. Hi! Started on 5 mg of Valium about 3 days ago. Also, due to some strange side effects, my doctor has taken me off of Wellbutrin, which I only took for a week. Prior to that, I had taken Cymbalta 30 mg for about 3 years. Doc stopped it as it was no longer effective and a higher dose made me very ill. 50 mg in the a.m. and 50 mg. in the p.m. (along with 30 mg cymbalta once a day) and - for the first time in 50 yrs. have a serious decline in my chronic pain. It's been two months. Let's hope it lasts and we do finally have some significant control. Remember FM'ers, get sun/daylight. ## I am very glad to hear you are finally experiencing some pain relief. Savella contains the active ingredient Milnaciprin, it is an SNRI antidepressant that is successful at treating some nerve pain. My doc just prescribed Cymbalta to me yesterday. I took my first pill yesterday. I didnt read up on it till after my son told me "MOM< NO dont take that". I heard it has really bad side effects. I had testosterone pellets inserted in my hip last April, 2012. My tes shot up from 355 to 850 in a couple of weeks. Everything was OK, then about 10 weeks into the program I started having anxiety. I got to the point where it was panic. I have never felt panic to this degree. I went back to my doc and he checked my estrogen and found out it was 3 times higher than when I started the program. He gave me some anastrasole to block the production of estrogen. Once that door was open my anxiety would not go away. I started taking 30 mg of Cymbalta to control my anxiety.
