Hi just started my final dose today of 72mg of concerta been in them for 4 weeks now and I have to stick at 72 mg but its making me feel spaced and slightly dizzy I did experience this when I took 18mg when I first took them but never the second day is this normal will it pass thanx. ## Hello, Stephen! How are you feeling? Yes, that is normal and it should pass, as your body gets used to the medication. If it doesn't, then you should consult your doctor. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, nervousness, anxiety and insomnia. Is there anything else I can help with?

I would like to know 18 mg of Concerta is like, compared to other ADHD medication. I used to take Adderall 20mg xr, but that was about 6 years ago. I have struggled through out these past years not realizing it was because I stopped treatment. I've heard some things about Concerta, but I'm not sure if it will benefit me the same as the Adderall did for me in the past. Any advice would be appriciated! ## Chalet , the only way to know if a particular drug will benefit you is to try it. Talk to your doctor. If your doctor will prescribe Concerta and it does not work well. Hopefully he will prescribe Adderall. ## BL is correct, we are all different and no one can possibly know how any medication will affect any given person that tries it. We can tell you that it could cause side eff...

Hi there. My son is 9, just started 18 mg of Concerta 3 days ago. Already he has had trouble sleeping. Didn't fall of til close to midnight and lost at least 3 hrs. of his usual sleep. I'm worried this is going to be counterproductive for him. Any advice? Thank you! ## It is a stimulant medication, so it can cause insomnia, especially when someone first starts taking it. This is a side effect that should wear off in a few weeks, after his body adjusts to the medication. I do, however, understand your concern, as this can be disruptive in many ways, especially to his education, so you might wish to speak to his doctor if it continues, he may need a low dosage or a different medication. What time of day is he taking it? It is usually best that it be taken in the morning, so the wo...

my wife is allergic to propylene glycol and it is in many products - oral otc's,foods, creams, ointments, lotions, soaps shaving cream etc. We have eliminated most of the over the counters but am looking for a list of prescription items that would have propylene glycol in them. Does anyone have the site for such a list? ## I found it difficult to locate a complete list, but according to Google, listed below are the "Top Medications Containing Propylene Glycol": *Acetaminophen and Oxycodone Hydrochloride 500 mg / 5 mg (Teva Pharmaceuticals USA) *Amoxicillin 500 mg (Teva Pharmaceuticals USA) *Cephalexin Monohydrate 500 mg (Teva Pharmaceuticals USA) *Concerta 36 mg (ALZA Corporation) *Concerta 54 mg (ALZA Corporation) *Concerta 18 mg (ALZA Corporation) *Fluoxetine Hydrochloride...

My son has been taking 18 mg of Concerta for a month, he is 6 years old. Since his mood is much more stable, he is less emotional and seems to focus more. He is also less obsessive about things he was before. He seems more able to play alone and doesn't always look for a friend. He has a little less appetite but he sleeps well and doesn't have other side effects. Overall Concerta is helping him.

I work in the medical field. I have had random drug tests and have always tested negative on urine 9 panel. I have been in school for ultrasound. My doctor prescribed methylphenidate 54 MG ER in the A.M, focalin 5mg and 18 mg ER methyphenidate in the afternoon. I recently took a random drug test and tested positive for amphetamines. Can this be a false positive test due to the medication?

I have just taken a drug test but also took concerta two hours ago. will I pass? ## Hi Heather - are you talking about the drug Concerta? If so, it can take up to 96 hours or so for it to be fully metabolized (the half life is around 3.5 hours). With that said, it also depends on what the drug test was looking for specifically. Was it a urine test? Blood test? How did it go? Good luck and best wishes! ## No u will fail. I have failed on concerta every month even though I stop it 3 days prior. ## I guess this would be the reason my Dr. is not going to prescribe my hydro morph contin 18 mg as he found Concerta in my urine. I even phoned his secretary to let her know I was recently prescribed this drug by a psychiatrist. I'm just about to loose my mind, due to getting this call late Fr...
