Clonazepam Withdrawal

Klonopin, or clonazepam is one of the hardest drugs to get off of. I have seen this in hospital settings as a nurse myself and as a patient of this horrible drug. Benzodiazepines should never have been invented. I have been on this med for 3 years now, and cannot handle the withdrawal affects no longer than one month. I wish the doctor would have warned me of how dependent your brain and the central nervous system relies on this med only after even 2 months of taking this. I have been advised by doctors to slowly shave the pill down over a period of a year if needed, and then I have had some doctors tell me that may never be able to get off of this drug ever!! Withdrawal symptoms include for myself a feeling of anxiety and panic constantly, never-ending, shaking, hot and cold, no appeti...

I stopped taking 1 mg clonazepam one/day maybe five-six days ago because I have a back injury which has flared up and I had to take hydrocodone.... I also take zolpidem and lisinopril and levothyroxine regularly and was taking benedryl for allergies.... I quit taking the benedry and clonazempam because a nurse friend of my friend said they should not all be taken together. Originally I was also on prozac 20mg. I started most of these when my husband died suddenly a few years ago. The last few days I thought I had the flu really bad because I had terrible joint and muscle aches, then horrendous headaches and a continuous slight nausea. Starting yesterday, I have had repeated panic attacks and I am scared.... I called the clonazepam hotline for help and they really just have volunteers an...

is anyone still having symptoms from a sudden clonazepam withdrawal. could you get any help? ## Pretty much everyone who stops this drug abruptly without weaning off, is bound to experience some sort of withdrawal symptoms. A sudden withdrawal also carries the risk of seizures. In my opinion, the best way to avoid this situation would be to talk to your doctor about setting up a tapering schedule and following that for however long it takes to safely stop using it without any repercussions. So to answer your question, yes, you can seek help from your doctor in so far as having him or her write a new script for you at a lesser dosage. Withdrawal symptoms can last weeks or even months for some people, so I think the sooner you're able to take action with your doctor the better. I hope...

I have been on klonopin 1mg for 4 months after an acute mixed manic episode. When I asked my psychiatrist if I could taper at 10% (.125mg) every 2 weeks her answer was: No .25mg at a time because if you're not stable to begin with it doesn't matter how you taper ! She's added large of gabapentin on top of this. I intend to milk titrate over the next 4 months. What do I do? Please advise. ## It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause withdrawal effects that could include seizures, rebound depression, rebound anxiety, diarrhea, and nervousness. What dosage are you taking of the Gabapentin? ## Adamo, So that may be the best comment that a skilled prescriber has ever uttered...

I have been prescribed Clonazepam (Klonopin) for 7 years, first for Restless Leg, then for ALS. The ALS was diagnosed at Columbia Presbyterian 3 months ago. My symptoms are clear but not completely incapacitating yet. In 7 years I have either lost or taken too many pills 3 times and each time nobody would help me, so I would go to the hospital, where I was always admitted (of course). This time I took too many pills and I just don't want to go to the Emergency Room again. It's ridiculous. They'lll keep me 2 weeks when prescribing the drug would do it... Is there another way? ## Hi Sarah, Usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pie...

Let us all join in PRAYER for people suffering from all these horrible prescription drugs. Jesus help us. We are not drug addict just innocent victims. Post your prayers. Thank you. God Bless us all ## My Doctor tried to present Klonopin as a different class of medicine than Xanax in the same family, going as far to say there is less withdrawal concerns. Truth is most Doctors know very little about withdrawal ## Hello, Sandra! How are you doing? I'm sorry about what you're going through. What types of issue have you had while taking? What color is a 1 mg clonazepam made by Mylan? ## Mylan's Clonazepam (1mg) is a round green tablet; with an "M" on one side and "C" over "14" on the other. Manufacturer: Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc. The other brands I ended up in the ER or they have really altered the quality of life. I just took it to sleep and now I have tried all the rest and were all too drugging and when it runs out, withdrawal type side effects begin. See my name: Mylan Bestie. How long does it take to withdrawal from clonazepam 1/2 of 0.5 for over 10 years? I'm getting withdrawal symptoms and was put on lorazepam. ## Most will say your minimal clonazepam dose shouldn't cause a substantial withdrawal syndrome period. They would be wrong.the best and only advice one should give is to be medically tapered or detoxified. In a proper medical setting benzodiazepine withdrawal can be life threatening. Best of luck and God bless ## My major problem is that I'm taking it for chronic neck pain. What do I do about the reason I'm taking it for? I never had side effects not even when I went from the 0.5 to the .25. But the because I came across bad batches I realized I had a problem. I always had used the same brand because I am extra sensitive to medicati...

What happens when someone suddenly stops taking Lonazep 0.25 mg? Are there any withdrawal symptoms? ## If you've been on it for a long period of time, then it isn't safe to just stop taking it abruptly as doing so creates the risk of seizures. Lonazep contains the active ingredient Clonazepam, which is a benzodiazepine and since these medications can be habit forming you may also experience withdrawal effects, such as irritability, nervousness, headaches and diarrhea.

Besides painful scary withdrawal say goodbye to your hair when trying to taper clonazepam or any other benzodiazapine. After taking this a few years it actually added anxiety and problems. People think it works well for them, but just you wait, it turns on you when you least expect it and it is the most painful and fearful thing to go through. Doctors do not knwo how to handle the taper and end up adding more drugs that actually make things worse. Suddenly you find yourself living to avoid all the pain and the physical problems like nerve pain while trying to taper. ## Hello Kate! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about what you're going through. It is normal for your body to get used to any medication that you've been taking for a long period of time and for it to stop work...

I've been on clonazepam .5 mg a day for about 10 years for panic attacks. My dr will not refill my rx because I take marijuana. So I was forced to stop cold turkey and am worried about withdrawal. I am having a little trouble sleeping, restless legs, my vision is blurry, weird headaches and sudden feeling of falling/dizziness. Is this all related? Could it be something else? And how can they make me stop cold turkey? What else can I experience/expect? Please help. ## Hello, Sassy! How are you? I'm sorry about the way you're feeling. Yes, those all sound like they may be from withdrawal. As listed by the FDA, stopping a benzodiazepine cold turkey also creates the risk of seizures, so please be careful. As to making you stop cold turkey, yes, they certainly can. No doctor is o...

There are all these conspiracy theories about clonazepam generics, the FDA heavily regulates these and cannot have > +/- 20% of active ingredient. I too favor the tevas, but those are the old school generics and I think we just have an emotional attachment/ placebo effect to with regard to them. These placebo/mental effects can cause REAL withdrawal symptoms (my psychiatrist is one of the top pain/anxiety management docs in Texas). Also certain message boards dont even allow generic brand comparisons because there can be no noticeable difference between generic brands in terms of the effectiveness, but there may be placebo effects on addiction/withdrawal. Does anyone have any non-anecdotal evidence to support certain generics being worse than others? ## If you really want to read up...

I'm trying to kick suboxone, a friend gave me some clonazapam, will this work. I want to kick, not get another habit though. ## Hello, Tyree! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. Getting help from a medical professional would be best. The FDA classifies Clonazepam as a benzodiazepine, it is most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. It does carry the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. That said, it may help with some withdrawal symptoms, but its doubtful that it will alleviate them all and yes, you could just be trading one addiction for another. Suboxone is a narcotic analgesic that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential ...

Solco is horrible! I was forced to try it after Accord for migraine relief and I felt like I was swimming through jello in a fog. I took it for almost a month until it occurred to me that my problems started with Solco. I have chronic pain and fatigue, so i thought at first I was in a flare-up from something, then I considered a virus or infection, as it got worse by the day and I realized as I lay in bed whimpering in pain and thought I was dying, I thought, it HAS to be this Solco. I had some Mylan left (which has been discontinued), so yesterday I switched back and today I am a different person! The marked difference is incredible. I actually think I was going through a withdrawal syndrome. I have never had a benzo do that to me, ever and I've been on Mylan and Caraco for years! ...

If you don't feel this is an option or have other health concerns, go to your dose every other night for one week, then try every three days, see how you do. It's called winging yourself. It's the safest way and exactly how a doctor would do it. Good luck. ## Hello, Mustafa! How are you? I do want to warn everyone that is taking Benzodiazepines. Xanax, Clonazepam, Klonipin, Ativan, Valium, etc.. THIS IS A PSYCHOTIC DRUG! ONLY TO BE USED FOR 2-4 WEEKS. I was put on them for yrs. I had terrible anxiety... the more anxiety I had, the more the doctor was upping my dose! It was the Clonazepam causing it. I went to a detox, they cold turkey'd me ~ TAPER SLOWLY. You will have the worst withdrawals and they are not like an opioid withdrawal! it takes weeks to over a year to go through the withdrawals. Trust Me I was a victim of such. READ UP ON THEM. See sites like benzo.org.uk then join a benzo group. They should be treated like an opioid. They can be worse than them. ## They are treated like an opioid these days. My father has been taking Clonazepam for years. He takes 4mg a night to sleep and he also takes Amitriptyline along with it. About 6 months ago he lost his bottle of Clonazepam and could not get it refilled for another 2 weeks (controlled substance law would not allow it until 30 days from the last refill). After about 5-6 days of cold turkey, he being having high blood pressure, vertigo, clammy skin, numbness in left arm, etc. We thought he was having a stroke. We went to an Urgent Care Clinic and the MD there said he believed it was the withdrawal from the Clonazepam. He prescribed a different Benzodiazepine that he believed would keep him from complete withdrawal and so we all assumed these symptoms would go away. Most of them did ease up, but not 100%. When he restarted the Clonazep...

Does anyone else get pain relief from clonazepam? It doesn't make me relaxed or sleepy; it just relieves pain better than any NSAID. I was prescribed it for chronic daily headache several years ago. Now I still have lower back achiness from a herniated disc surgery last Dec. If I don't take the clonazepam, my back achiness worsens, as well as my headache. I don't feel relaxed, sleepy, high or anything else. Just pain relief. Does anybody have any idea why I seem to get a different reaction than everybody else? ## There are a few possible reasons that you may be experiencing this. One could be due your not taking it sometimes, doing that may cause a rebound effect, which would make your headache and pain worse, it's kind of a mild withdrawal symptom. Another could be due ...
