Cipro For Toothache

I have a painful toothache. The dentist office is closed on Sunday. I have 1 ciprofloxacin 500 mg and cephalexin 500 mg. I don't know if they are okay to take for my toothache. ## Those are both antibiotics, used to treat various types of infections, so they may help, but it will not be enough to completely get rid of the infection and they will not treat pain. It is very important that you see a dentist to get to the root of the problem and, if needed, get enough antibiotics to clear up an infection. Are there any other questions?

I am a heart patient, I woke up this morning with a tooth ache. I was wondering if Ciprofloxacin would help with the swelling and pain ## Hello, Stailiana! How are you doing? Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic, so it may help with swelling that is due to an infection, but it will not directly help with the pain. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
