I had ibelex many times before this time and after my first cephalexin tablet I felt quite ill: Sweating, scratching, very red all over. Why would this be given at hospital as an antihistamine? ## This is an antibiotic that is used to treat or prevent bacterial infections, it is not an antihistamine. However the exact dosage and duration of treatment is best determined by a licensed vet who can evaluate the dog in person. Upon doing so, the vet can also decide if Cephalexin is appropriate over other potential antibiotics/treatment options (that may be safer in so far as possible side effects). Cephalexin itself is a very powerful drug (even for humans), so I just think it's wise to play it safe and seek additional feedback from a vet before following through with treatment on your own accord.
