From what you've listed, the second one with the SA would be a time released formulation. The sa stands for sustained action, it's used similarly to ER, SR, XR and others. Are there any generic versions of this tablet either er or direct version which contain different coloring ingredients than the original sinmet product? ## @Dr. Perry, From what I could gather, Sinemet (Carbidopa + Levodopa) by Merck Pharma reportedly contains the following inactive ingredients: hydroxypropyl cellulose + pregelatinized starch + crospovidone + microcrystalline cellulose + magnesium stearate. NOTE: FD&C Blue #2 are also present in the 10mg/100mg and 25mg/250mg dosage forms; whereas D&C Yellow #10 Lake is used in the 25mg/100mg dosage form. As far as an alternative goes, I did notice that Sandoz makes a generic Carbidopa + Levodopa (w/ the addition of Entacapone) marketed for treating similar conditions, but does have a different list of inactive ingredients: corn ...
