Can You Take Etodolac After It Has Expired

2 Topics Found

I have a prescription of etodolac that says it expired on June 11, 2016, it's now August 1, 2016. Can I still take it? ## Hello, Becky! How are you? This medication doesn't become dangerous, or toxic, once expired, but it does start to lose effectiveness and may not work as well as it did, when new. Thus, it would be best to see your doctor for a new supply. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

This medication does not become dangerous, once expired, but they do lost effectiveness over time and, even if still sealed in the originally factory sealed container, the maximum shelf life is only about 5 years, thus it would be best to dispose of them and see your doctor for a new supply, if you still require such a medication.
