Can You Just Take Linzess As Needed

I just took my first dose of Linzess 145 and like the others posted...within 2 hrs of taking it (I took it on an empty stomach 30 minutes before breakfast) I had noticeable bloating and gas within an hr and it was working full on within 2 hrs. The entire experience seemed to work itself out within 3.5 hrs. Very unpleasant 3.5 hrs but now everything seems to have calmed down. Not ideal..but can Linzess just be taken every few days? 2-3 times per week? If it always has this effect it seems I would be able to manage calendar to allow for the time it needs and still be able to fully function the rest of the time. ## I was told by my gastro to take it when I need it. Yep. It was prescribed for me to take as needed. It works well for me taken on an empty stomach; within 2 hours my bowels start churning. ## Ditto, I also was told as needed by my Dr. It works within 2 hours very efficiently. ## I have constipation due to everyday meds for blood pressure. Nothing helped until I started taking Linzess. I like the idea of as needed. I think I'll try that. Otherwise. I become housebound.

Can linzess be taken as needed. My antidepressant causes constipation? ## Hello, Jill! How are you? Some people do take it that way, depending on how it works best for them. There is no harm in trying it that way, if your doctor approves of your doing so. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, bloating, stomach pain and diarrhea. However, have you tried just using fiber supplements?

I have tried taking Linzess as needed and everyday. My experience was more often used less lt will works. Taking a break from your Linzess just for one day can make it work better. But need to use fiber drink or stool softener in place of . Do not eat bananas or any food that will cause constipation. Drink 100% pure apple juice and orange juice high pulp and fresh oranges . Also eat activia yogurts with fiber one everyday will help . ## I would think that the fiber in fruit like bananas would promote regular bowel movements (as they have in my experience), but I know we are all different. Dried prunes or dates also reportedly aid in GI tract motility; and probiotics are another thing that may be worth implementing. I suppose there is no one right way to make things flow more easily, but...

How much time is needed between dosages of levothyroxine and linzess? I also take metformin. ## Hi Lynn, According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), there are no interactions or contraindications listed between Levothyroxine, Linzess or Metformin. While this doesn't necessarily mean that no interactions exist, it is my own personal opinion that a time gap between dosing isn't required. Nevertheless, I still feel that you should contact your prescribing doctor if you have any concerns about what he/she has recommended for you. Hope this helps!

Just prescribed linzess by my pcp , took it for 2 days with no results . My doctor directed me to take only when needed! Which contradicted the prescribing info! I have had problems for over 20 years , have tried everything and still no luck! Any suggestions would be appreciated! ## Hi Jill, I was diagnosed with Colonic Inertia and I am unable to have a bowel movement on my own. I started with the low dose of Linzess and it did nothing. Then my Gastroenterologist ordered the higher dose and I could not stay off the commode as the diarrhea was terrible. I am now back on the low dose and it seems to be causing severe diarrhea. I would give it more time and see what happens. If I do not take it I become so bloated and have a lot of flatus and nausea. You can also try Phillips MOM at night....

Is it okay to take linzess every other day or when needed dose linzess cause weight gain ## Hello, Bailey! How are you? This medication will work best if you take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Side effects may include heartburn, loss of appetite, weakness and diarrhea, so no, it doesn't usually cause weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with?
