I am going to the beach at the end of the month.how long can I be in the sun ## Hello, Chipmunk! How are you? I'm sorry, but there is no definitive answer that I can give you for this question. Most medications can make you more sensitive to the effects of the sun and heat, so you may burn, dehydrate and overheat faster than usual, but there's no specific time frame that can be applied to everyone. For instance, some people can be out in the son for hours, without having any problems or becoming sunburnt, but for others, it may be just 10 or 15 minutes, until they start to experience issues…. and that time frame may be lessened by a medication, such as this. Thus, it tends to be a highly individualized thing. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include n...

I am on 600mg Lyrica per day and believe I am totally addicted to them. I have tried taking more than the prescribed dose to get a "high" - god it is such a great high but I am getting more and more addicted. I feel terrible when I run out or get low on pills. They speed me up so when I have them in abundance I feel great but when I don't, well, it's like hell on earth. Has anyone else on here found they are addicted to Lyrica? Surely the manufacturers know they are on to a good thing here! Oh well, it won't be the first time in my life the big pharma companies have got a hold over me. I think perhaps I should be posting in an addiction forum for help but just thought I would ask on here out of curiosity. ## I've TAKEN lyrica as prescribed for 8 years - I weaned ...

I used to take high doses of narcotics for severe neuropathy pain. That crap almost killed me and destroyed my life, leaving me destitute and homeless. I had to move in with my sister, and then some friends to stay off the street. I have been taking lyrica for several years and it helped, even while on the narcotics. Since going off the narcotics, I have relied entirely on Lyrica to deal with the pain. My doctor changed my dosage about a month or so ago to 300mg twice a day and soon to 300mg three times a day. The difference has been amazing and the neuropathy pain is almost completely gone while the Lyrica is in effect. I do have some side effects though, like headaches, dizziness, sleepiness but I don't care. Anything is preferable to the pain, except for narcotics. ## Lyrica has ...

I have a high tolerance to hydrocodone but have a 5mg norco and a 300mg lyrica. If I take them both will I feel the hydrocodone? ## Neither one blocks the other, but you should not take this combination, unless your doctor approves. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Norco as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. It also carries the risk of being habit forming. Have they both been prescribed for you?

I've been taking 600mg of Lyrica for ten years, I have had no problems with it. It helps with the burning. ## Hi Sue, With all the diverse opinions surrounding the safety of Lyrica, it's great to hear that you're still doing well on it after 10 years. If you don't mind me asking, what exactly are you taking it for that has to do with burning? From what I've read, the maximum "recommended" dose is listed at 100mgs three times daily (or 300mgs). It doesn't say you can't take a higher dose (they just don't recommend it unless your doctor draws that conclusion based on your individual response and how well you tolerate it). Apparently though, 600mgs was studied in clinical trials and had ended up showing no significant benefits from the dosage increas...

My pain dr recently started me on 50 mg of Lyrica. If the 50mg doesn't help what mg should I take? I have deep sore stiff pain and it only hurts worse when im walking or standing to wash dishes. They say I have osteoarthritis in my back and knees and they are rubbing bone to bone. What should I tell my pain dr.? Please help me. ## Hello, Verna! How are you? Well, the best thing to do is to give the Lyrica a chance and see if it will help you, or not. How long have you been taking it? Is it ok to take lyrica 6hrs after taking 10 mg of methadone. ## Hi, Tony! How are you? Contrary to what many people think, Lyrica is not a narcotic or analgesic of any type. It actually contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, which is an anticonvulsant that can help with some types of nerve pain, due to its action on brain chemicals. Learn more Lyrica details here. And I didn't find any interactions listed between the two, but you should double check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Unless I'm mistaken Lyrica IS a schedule 4 drug. So while it's not an opiate it can definitely make you goofy, especially at high doses, especially if you are just starting it. ## Yes at first the doses are very strong. I have taken Meth...

I took a 150 mg lyrica for the first time. at first I thought it wasn't working until an hour later. I started getting a little jittery and then I had a burst of energy!!! I felt like I was on speed all day long. I cleaned my whole house did all my laundry etc... now it just seems like I can't calm down. is this normal? ## Hi Sheila, From what I could gather, the following are side effects of Lyrica (Pregabalin) that could be contributing to what you're describing: anxiety lack of coordination loss of balance or unsteadiness uncontrollable shaking or jerking of a part of the body muscle twitching increased appetite ''high'' or elevated mood Ref: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a605045.html#side-effects Based on that list of side effects you're burst...

I have had a couple of blackouts when the dosage was too high. It sure is scary ## i had the same thing when i had the doctor advise me to go up to 150 mg, three times a day i had weird blackout type memory problems so i had cut back, and only took the 150 mg two times which the problems went away after the higher dose was out of my system, ## i have ended up in my recliner by the wood stove twice, middle of the night. i woke up and didn't remember going out there. if i lower the dose the pain is unbearable. this drug is the worst i have ever experienced, horrible drug, don't start! ## My husband had been taking 600 mg of Lyrica and cut back a little because he was not sure it was helping. A friend of mine has been using Lyrica in order to get a 'high'. Normally, he takes doses of 600-1000mg in one go, about once a week on weekends. He has no history of fibromyalgia or nerve damage or backpain: he is perfectly healthy. What are the dangers associated with non-prescribed consumption of Lyrica? What are the long-term side effects on health? What are the risks involved? He is a 29 yr old male. ## Lyrica is not a regular pain medication, so it will not get him high, though he may experience some dizziness, drowsiness and sedation as side effects, especially at such a high dosage, which may make him think he's getting high. Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, it is an anticonvulsant that is also proven effective at treating certain types of nerve pain...

Help! I was given Lyrica by my pain management doctor. I have severe neurogenic pain from multiple sclerosis. I am also taking Wellbutrin and Cymbalta, the idea of being on 3 different-acting anti-depressants worries me. I am on heavy opiates for the pain and can live alright with the level of pain I have without the Lyrica, I am not sure if the pain doc is attempting to get me off opiates, or just wanted me to try Lyrica. The first dose of 100 mg (yesterday) made me high as a kite, I didn't feel like myself, could not stay on task, jittery, problems with balance, unable to concentrate, hard to sleep AND it seemed like my pain was actually worse.....I have hesitated to take my dose today, and the doc wants me to increase to 150 mg/day in 3 days, I cannot imagine taking more at this ...

I have been in Stage 3 colon cancer remission for 5 years. Side effects from chemo have done a lot of nerve damage. My Doc put me on Lyrica the day before yesterday, 3/19/12 and after 2 tablets I have extreme vomiting, called my doc and he told me not to take anymore; yet even today I have extreme vomiting and can not keep anything down, my stomach is killing me. Hopefully after today I will be better. Again just 2 doses of this stuff, wow. Good luck to those taking it, because I have been on many of strong meds, and this one is out of the park. I too was bouncing into the walls after my 2nd dose. Very strong stuff is all I have to say. ## Actually, it's not a very strong medication, which is why the dosages for people can be taken relatively high on it. It usually works at very low...

I just got on Lyrica 50mg twice a day and my pain has pretty much dissapeared. I have been reading alot of really bad stories about it, but everyone seems to be taking much higher doses than i am, i was wondering if anyone knows if i stay on a low dose if i will have these horrible side effects i have read about ## Actually, the worse of the side effects should be experienced during the first month of us, they start to taper off and get less severe after that, except for in some rare cases. If you haven't had any really bad ones, so far, then you are probably doing okay with it and might only experience them if you have to increase your dosage. Also remember that medications affect different people in different ways, so you may never experience some of the problems that other people...

I have been on Lyrica for about 3 weeks now for neuropathic pain. I am an MS patient and the Lyrica is helping. I have had side effects of weight gain and sleepiness. I may have to increase my dosage because I am still having a little pain. Can anyone tell me how long the side effects last and does increased dosages ease your pain more. ## It is hard to say how long the side effects will last, it can vary from person to person, it can also vary according to your dosage and your drug tolerance, for most people it ranges anywhere from 2 weeks to a month. Whether or not a higher dosage will relieve your pain more is another thing that no one can say for sure. Some people get great results from these types of meds and some don't. You will just have to try it and see what happens, and fo...

I take 75mg Lyrica for nerve pain in my legs and feet. This is keeping me up for hours at night. I cannot go to sleep for 2-3 hours after going to bed. Does anyone else have this problem? ## Have you informed your doctor? You may need a higher dose of the Lyrica. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Lyrica as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, and mood changes. However, it can also cause insomnia, so that is something to be aware of, in case it happens to you.
