can u take this for the flu ## Hi angeletta, Antibiotics in general will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu. However you can learn more about the uses of this medication here: Clindamycin Details The flu treatment you should take largely depends on your symptoms. For example, if you have nasal or sinus congestion, then a decongestant may be most helpful, as opposed to an antibiotic. There are also numerous cough medicines with various combinations of decongestants, antihistamines, analgesics/antipyretics, cough suppressants, and expectorants, all depending on what symptoms you have. I hope this advice helps!

My daughter has just been prescribed 8ml of clindamycin palmitate 3 times a day for 7 days. She has been fighting ear infections, sinus infections and upper respiratory infections for the past 4 months. She has been on amoxicillin, Augmentin, septra and cefdinir and neither of these have worked. I took her to an ENT last week and recommended we remove her tonsils and adenoids and have ear tubes put in. She is scheduled for 3/11 however she is still running a fever off and on and has a slight cough so that is why he gave her clindamycin. I'm just worried because of the side effects of this antibiotic. I know it's a broad spectrum med so it has a higher possibility of c. Diff.... Wondering if anyone has dealt with this with a young child? I know she needs to be clear of fever and ...

I have a history of sinus infections, i have this medication left from previous infection its expired on 3/15/2012 is it still usable. can not go to the dr. no insurance. ## Hello, Hazeleyes! How are you? No, it isn't a good idea to use an expired antibiotic. They lose efficacy over time and that creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, that problem may also be increased if you don't have enough to complete a full course of treatment. Are there any low-income clinics in your area? They are usually much cheaper than going to a private physician.

Was sick with sinus infection and a doc gave me a script for 3 (150) mg clindmycin caps 3 X a day. I am feeling better now and looking at the amount of pills I have left, it seems an extreme amount of pills. ## Even if you are feeling better, you should finish the antibiotic, as prescribed, to make sure that the infection is completely cleared up. Normally, they are given at the 3 a day dosage for between 10 to 14 days, depending on the dosage and just because you may be feeling better, there could still be remnants of the infection lingering in your body. Not finishing the prescribed amount could result in your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria and the infection returning and being more difficult to treat. Are there any other comments or questions? ## My friend gave me like 10 b...

I have been to the dentist got sent home with Clindamycin but I also have a sinus infection, asthma and panic attacks. Is this safe for me to take 300 mg 4times a day? And will it work for both infections? ## It is an antibiotic, so it may help with both infections, the best thing you can do is try it and see. However, it generally isn't recommended for people that suffer from asthma. Learn more Clindamycin details here. Thus, I'd suggest you contact your dentist or doctor about an alternative antibiotic. What do you use to treat your asthma? ## I have COPD and my dentist just put me on cindamyacin 300mg 4 times daily for 7 days for an infected wisdom tooth. He was unaware of my breathing problem. I have been on it for 3 days, should I discontinue and contact my primary care doc...

I've been taking Levaquin for about five days now for a sinus infection and it is not working at all. I took one at 1:00 today. How many hours do I have to wait to switch to a Clindamycin or an Amoxicillin? ## Hi Ann, Sorry to hear about your situation. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), there are no interactions listed between Levaquin, Clindamycin or Amoxicillin. That said, I'm of the theoretical opinion that you shouldn't have to wait at all... This finding does not necessarily mean that no interactions exist. However, if in doubt, your best bet would probably be to contact your prescribing doctor and/or local pharmacist just to be on the safe side. I hope this helps and that you get around to feeling better soon!

My nose continues to stuff up even after taking my prescribed drug, Clindamycin. I am taking three 150 mg doses every 8 hours, with some relief. ## Clindamycin is an antibiotic, as listed by MedlinePlus, it is used to treat bacterial infections, by itself,, it will not help alleviate nasal congestion. It may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, non-allergic skin rash, and headache. If your congestion is due to an issue, such as a sinus infection, it will take several days of taking this, in order for you to start seeing some improvement. How long have you been taking it? Are you on any other medications?

I took a week's prescription of Augmentum (28 doses) followed by 8 days of Clindamycin....the former was for an infection in my sphenoid sinus, the latter for an emergency dental issue requiring a root canal. My sinus condition is still unresolved. I have been warned that too much antibiotic can cause an intestinal condition that is very dangerous. How soon would I be safe to start another antibiotic for the sinus condition? ## You should follow your doctor's instructions on how, and when to take an antibiotic, and always finish each course of treatment, unless instructed otherwise.
